Question About Foreigners May Win ROY Option
I am setting up a fictional league based in Canada and I like to have free agents from other countries come in every year, but I want the Rookie of the Year to be for Canadians only. I thought unchecking the "Foreigners May Win" box would do this, but in my second test season an American won. Am I misunderstanding the purpose of this option?

I think the "foreigners may win" option is for free agents from other leagues (like an established player from *** coming to MLB), but I haven't confirmed that.

Yeah, that's what I'm going for. In game they technically haven't been in any other leagues, but I don't see why they would be treated differently. |

What I'm saying is the "foreigners may win" only refers to the league, not the nationality. It's a misnomer that is doing the opposite of what you meant.

Do you have a region set for your league?
You said it's Canadian - is that Canadian Teams only or also apply to players? I'm curious as to how American players are entering? Do you have allow foreigners or FA's from other leagues checked? The setting you're asking about - basically any player that enters your league from other means than your draft can/cannot win. So that could be IAFA's, IFA's, Indy league players, scouting discoveries. Depends on your settings there, if you allow those players to enter your league or not. |

I see you're allowing IEFA's. Unchecking the foreigners can win box should disallow them from winning. I'm stuck as to why the American player won it. He wasn't part of the initial draft by any chance was he?
What does it say in his history for how he entered the league? Last edited by Bluenoser; 06-29-2022 at 06:08 PM. |

I'm out of options to try, got me stumped. Possibly a bug if it's not working, should post it in the Bug Forum.

I believe this setting is based on the league region, which you select on the league settings. It’s separate from league nation, you have to specifically change the region.
