His ERA has been over 5.00 since April. It went down from 5.73 to 5.06 with that White Sox start. After today, it's back up to 5.74 and he looked pathetic out there.

You know, 5.74 here, 5.06 there... that is even worse when you add in that Stroman started the Mets game yesterday with a 2.41 ERA and he wasn't even in the top 10 in the (National? whole?) league.

The first time in all of Yankees history that they pulled off two triple plays in one season.
Yawn. ![]() What really strikes my fancy is this: Quote:

Speaking of foraging for food, the Yanks sent Ford to the Rays for a ham sandwich on Wonder Bread.

And the Rays will now make a .290/.390/.380 hitter out of him.

Not sure about that. He seems to be one of those guys whose being out of shape considerably affects his performance, unlike some chubbies who can hit anyway.

![]() Is there some factor that is slowing baserunners down? Manfred will adjust by either a) shortening basepaths to cut down on TPs or b) lengthening them for MORE TPs! Something obviously must be done! Can't leave the game in this state.

I have been swamped at work, and busy with school work, but I wanted to drop in and say that I am amazed that the Yankees are still competive with how the team has played. Their offense has not been savages in the box, more like jack in the box. Their pitching is too inconsitent to lead the team. They also cannot turn a triple play every game, so something has to change.
The strange thing is most of the help is already on the roster. Their lineup should be a strength with guys like DJ, Judge, Stanton, Voit, Torres. There are other guys that are at least productive. Sanchez at least looks like a major league hitter again, so many guys just struggling. On the pitching side Kluber needs to return healthy hopefully, Severino is a ways away. They need another starter as the Taillon experiment has not worked out. They need a high contact guy in the lineup, someone that can hit for average. Yankees are darn fortunate to only be 4 games behind in the lost column with the way they have played. |

So tell me, who the heck is THIS Gary Sanchez and what happened to the other one?
His B.A. is up to .240 but even more impressive are these stats: .338 in his past 23 games with eight homers and 18 RBI. How can somebody who has looked as bad as he has the past few years suddenly wake up and start hitting like this? It's not like a slump; this was years of futility. At the risk of being a downer — albeit justified by those years of futility — how long will this period of success last?

"They [the Angels] became the first team since at least 1900 to give up seven runs in the first inning and then score seven in the ninth to win, according to STATS."
I've been a Yankees fan for a long time but, whether this is typical of a true fan or not, there comes a point in every losing season where rooting for the team goes to the back burner. I will keep tabs on them but as far as following them from day to day, that is over for 2021. This team can find more ways to lose than any Yankees team in recent memory. With a four-run lead, all Chapman had to do was to put the ball in play. Instead, he gives up three walks and a grand slam to tie the game. The next loser gives up three more runs and that was that. I will notice if they become competitive again but for now, this is me:

Us good Mets fans apologize for the punk in Mets dress that reached over the fence and interfered with Peraza's fly. That is not up to Mets fan code. The guy will be drowned in the nearest river upon leaving the ballpark.
Maybe he knows Jeffrey Maier though.

I tell you, the Yankees may have two pitchers (at least) who have been "outed" by this crackdown on substances: Cole and Chapman. Right now, they both look like frauds. Yankees now at .500 and headed south, while Mets are heading north.

There you go! We dropped Oswalt, the bum, in there to leave the last W with you guys, so we're not considered bad guests (unlike the Mets mook that interfered with the Peraza fly) and will be invited to your den again at a future date (unlike the Mets mook that interfered with the Peraza fly).

The less-than-humorous joke is that these two guys were named to the AL All-Star team yesterday. Normally, I would not be a "what have you done lately" kind of guy; the beginnings of their seasons were spectacular. But given the timing of their demise in these circumstances and their now being under suspicion, "joke" is the kindest word that I can use.

Chapman's almost certainly not cheating(While there is a small decline in spinrate in June and July, that's come with a corresponding drop in velocity. Plus he throws a splitter, which is well known as a pitch which depends on a low spinrate to be effective), as for Cole... outed? Hasn't him being one of the worst abusers of sticky stuff been an open secret since 2017? |
