NIce to see Nuke Laloosh as the No. 1 pick!! I also hope that the name of the Boys' first round pick is a good indicator of how the kid will develop!

It's funny how many of the names are one letter off of some of the actual players at that time: McGriff, Justice, Nixon, Kruk, etc.

I'll get started on my draft breakdown (Top 10) and throw in the complete Nordhagen Beach and Fort Hagen breakdowns. No matter what, Mattingley had better have a winning mustache!

2299 - CBO Rookie Draft Analysis
Top 10
1-1 Roxbury - SP Nuke Laloosh Skills: Why did the Beerthirty Sippers win the 2299 championship in the Boston Youth Development League? This guy! Laloosh finished a whopping 12-0 in 16 starts with a 0.29 ERA, striking out 238 batters while walking only 15 in 125.0 innings pitched. He already has five decent pitches that will only get better as he progresses. While he still needs to work more on trying to control movement and placement rather than blowing pitches past players or outright following them, he has plus potential in both movement and control. He can top out at around 96 MPH on his fastball. He has all the skills to be a star player in the CBO. Personality: Laloosh is not only talented, but he is also cerebral and a hard-worker. He is never satisfied with his last game, working each day to do better than he did the game before. His coaches, including new Nordhagen Beach skipper and former Party Boys pitcher Matt Ballhawk Getman, have nothing but good words to say about him and where he can go with his baseball career. 1-2 County Crossing - CF Sharkey Lurkfodder Skills: The first surprise of the draft since he was projected to go lower, the Bloodbugs love two things about Lurkfodder: speed and defense. He is fast and covers a lot of ground in the outfield, while also showing the ability to progress fluidly from base to base. He was highly successful with his bat in the BYDL, but he will need to show considerable improvement against much better pitching before he is CBO ready. He projects to be a purely pull hitter who could rack up a few homers each year, but he will want his contact to improve and find good pitches to swing at. Personality: He is a focused player who puts his efforts into doing the right things on and off the field. He is intelligent and had a good grasp of learning new skills. New County Crossing GM Kyle Wolf mentioned him before in pre-draft talk that he could be a "diamond in the rough," which may not be the best choice for the Bloodbugs, but seems to fit into Wolf's GM philosophy of taking chances on players needing to develop their skills more. 1-3 Atom - 2B Rabbit Forest Skills: Possessing a lot of potential as a future starter in the Cats' lineup, Forest is a good batter when it comes to putting the bat on the ball. He punishes fastball pitchers, but sometimes struggles on off-speed pitches since he is aggressive at the plate. He could be a steady .333 hitter in time. On the base paths, he is a threat to run a nab a base or two in any given game. He has good range defensively, but a weaker arm will mean he is bound to be a two-bagger unless he switches to the outfield. Personality: He has a tendency to daydream on the field sometimes. He keeps his thoughts private, so he often does not tell what distracted him. Because he is soft-spoken, he will never be a team leader. However, he is highly loyal and will stand up for his teammates and offer encouragement to them. 1-4 Easy Town - SS Rick Rolled Skills: Easily one of the top potential guys in the draft, Rolled could be a star player hitting for .333 per year, or he could be a lifetime .200 hitter. He will not hit for home runs with his one in the BYDL coming on an inside-the-park home run that happened when two outfielders collided. He is not very fast, so he is not much of a base-stealing threat, but he covers space well on defense. His defense is solid, which could push him into the CBO as a defensive replacement early in his career, but the Assaultrons would be better served to let him develop naturally a few seasons at Taffington Boathouse. Personality: He is not considered to have a strong personality, but he will never give up his teammates. He will never let them down. He will never run around and desert them. He will never make them cry or say goodbye, will never tell a lie or hurt them. 1-5 Warwick - RF Delmarva Illeracula Skills: Talented ball player, should be an all-around good hitter: average, power, slugging. Once he develops fully, will be a middle-of-the-lineup hitter for his team. Needs to develop his defensive skills more. Will play because he can hit, but will not help much on defense from his corner outfield position. Could even become a 1B in time. Personality: There is not much to say about Illeracula. He lacks an edge that could hamper his development. Overall, he is neutral: not a leader nor follower, not overly enthusiastic or listless, not excited nor depressed by successes or failures. 1-6 Finch Farm - SS Pipe Wallcrawler Skills: Younger brother of FHE's Hose Wallcrawler, Pipe shows similar skills to his brother, which will serve him well in his CBO pursuits. He is a good defensive player and a talented baserunner today, which could already put him in the mix to play if his bat did not need much more development. He was a successful hitter in the BYDL, hitting for over .400, but that is not necessarily the same as the BMU or CBO. His best feature is that he has a good eye, which helps him wait for the right pitch and let the bad ones go. However, he does not always punish pitchers for bad pitches, tending to pop up a lot of balls. What he can do, especially from the left side of the plate when he faces righties, is to drop down a bunt and beat it out for a single. That may be his greatest value in being a top of the lineup hitter. Personality: Had a lot of coaching from his brother as a young player so tends to respond with "I know" a lot when being coached. That can be off-putting to a coach trying to break bad habits. He is graded low in adaptability, so he may not develop as rapidly as some of the other players in the Top 10. He is a health freak, though, and will do what it takes to be in top shape when it comes time to play ball. That should help him avoid injuries on the next level. 1-7 Concord - 1B Jackie Shepherd Skills: Concord may have drafted the steal of the Top 10 in Shepherd with the 7th pick. He is big and strong and can rip the cover off the ball, though he is sometimes not patient with off-speed pitches. He almost always puts a curveball over the fence . . . in foul territory. If he practices sitting on pitches more, he has the potential to be a 30-HR hitter in the CBO. He also can produce lots of doubles, but he is too slow to ever leg those out for triples. He also does not strike out very much, which makes him a middle-of-the-lineup gem from day one with the College Square Nerd Ragers. Personality: A captain in the making. He possesses strong leadership ability, the ability to adapt in any situation, and a strong work ethic. If he were stranded on an island with a bunch of survivors, he would become the island's leader on day one. He leads by example, but still works as hard as anyone else to improve. He just needs to watch out that success does not get to his head. 1-8 Sunshine Tidings - 1B Duncan MacCready Skills: Son of Diamond City mayor Robert MacCready, Duncan is slotted at 1B because he is raw defensively. However, he has a talented swing that could make him a future middle-of-the-lineup hitter. Even though he has good power, he is most impressive with his ability to hit anywhere around the plate, even finding ways to turn inside pitches into base hits. In situations where the wind is blowing out, look for him to have multiple HR games. Personality: Not exactly the same as his father, at least not yet. A childhood illness has made him more of a reserved person. Still, he possesses great mental fortitude and can handle any pressure situation. Does not fold when a game is on the line or if a deathclaw is roaring right in front of him. Actively recruited by the Brotherhood of Steel to be a foot soldier because of that personality. 1-9 FHE - SS Wolf McQuaid Skills: May not be the best overall hitter, but he is a power-hitting shortstop, which gives him good value. He waits for pitchers to make mistakes and then punishes them for those mistakes. He is all action, little rest, on the field. He exhibits great hand-eye coordination with both the glove and bat, making him a defensive gem that could eventually challenge star SS Hose Wallcrawler. Personality: Despite his good attributes, McQuaid is a gung-ho, balls out kind of personality on and off the field. While that can be positive on the field, his personality can get him in trouble off it. He is likely to wrestle a Yao Guai if that is what he needs to do, which is fitting with him being drafted by the Yao Guai. It's his style and he is not willing to change, which could stress out his coaches on off days and the off-season. 1-10 Egret - 1B Silvam Fourteen Skills: A powerful guy, Fourteen is swing for the fence or die trying when it comes to his plate discipline. He can show signs of having a good eye, but we will probably not hit high for average, while his Slugging Pct may be a plus for his team. That makes him similar to Nordhagen Beach's Dustin Mart in terms of his style. That could be good if he bats .250 in a year, but he may be closer to a .200/30/90 type hitter. His best value would be to improve his swinging style, something Somerville Place hitting coach Perky Perkins is not know for doing. May not be on the right franchise for his potential development needs. Personality: Extremely self-confident and unwavering once he takes a position. He is extremely loyal to friends and will defend them and fight for them regardless of the situation. Does not ask anything of others and will be content with whatever salary he draws in both the BMU and CBO. Nordhagen Beach Draft Grade: B- Analysis: Much-improved draft from a year ago, the Party Boys probably hit on their first three picks: Mattingley, Koontz, and Syzmanski. All three could be future contributors to the CBO club, making them good value at each pick. Their 3rd-round pick, Lindstrom, could also be a solid pick, but time will definitely tell for him. Their 4th-round pick is probably going nowhere, and they had no 5th-round pick, so they did not add a ton of depth in Greentop Nursery. Rd 1 (#21) - 3B Donn Mattingley Skills: Started at 1B in the BYDL but quickly showed that he had a strong arm. Tried at pitcher but ultimately settled at 3B where he will be a potential Corvega Top Defenders Award winner, which will be useful for the Party Boys if Dirty Dog Sapienza proves not to be the right replacement for 31-year-old Jon Hitman. He may never develop as a great hitting 3B overall, but he has plus-potential power and the ability to work the count. Like a lot of power hitters, he has the attitude that he should hit a home run every at bat rather than adjusting for the situation. Personality: Likes to play, hates to practice. If the arrival time is 2:00, he arrives at 2:00. Leaves the field right after. Coaches question his work ethic because he doesn't do the extras that could make him a star. Seems to be content to be good, not great, which contributed to a late-1st round pick. Not cerebral, but saved on the field by good natural reflexes. Rd 2 (#12) - SP Odd Thomas Koontz Skills: A finesse pitcher, Koontz does not have impressive speed but he does have an array of effective off-speed pitches: curveball, slider, and circle change. His fastball can hit the low-90s, but those 75-80 MPH pitches earn him a fair share of strikeouts. If he improves his command, he could be a 1 or 2 starter. Personality: Fits in with the crowd. Does not have high expectations of others, which makes him easy to work with. Not great at changing up motion or stride when coached to do so, so he will need to develop in some other way. Rd 2 (#22) - SS Bast Syzmanski Skills: Because of his speed and defense, he is rated highly. However, his bat is likely to be a nuisance for any coach who wants to play him. Not rated to be a great hitter, so hoping for him to be a .200 hitter and batting 8th, while helping to generate the occasional run and turning double plays is his best bet for success in the CBO. Personality: Enjoys his teammates and being part of a team. Not an outgoing personality, but not shy either. Will work with his second baseman and first baseman to refine double play chances. Coaches say he is all about baseball. Rd 3 (#22) - SP Cosen Lindstrom Skills: An intriguing pick at this spot, Lindstrom is probably bound for the bullpen where he could be effective. Really a two-pitch pitcher--fastball and curveball--but he worked on his slider more this season with the Yahoos in the BYDL, which made him more effective as a pitcher. Does not tend to go deep into games, so he needs to work on stamina or prepare himself for a 3 innings max session out of the bullpen. Like Koontz, a finesse pitcher, which seems to be the type of pitcher Nordhagen Beach is pursuing. His fastball tops out at around 89 MPH. If he converts to a reliever, could eventually become the leader of the middle relievers. Personality: Plans and leads with attention to detail. Wants to be counted on in any situation. Teammates love his enthusiasm and willingness to take on a leadership role. Comes out every day looking to work and improve. Rd 4 (#22) - SP Jose Corona Skills: Selected right around the place where any pick has to show tremendous improvement to ever make the CBO. Lefty who relies on batters making mistakes more than his ability to blow the ball past anyone. His fastball is his weakest of his three pitches, topping out at 87. He has decent control and would need to improve his curveball and slider movement a lot before he could hope to be a CBO-level pitcher. Likely a lifetime minor-leaguer. Personality: Not quick to form an opinion on anything, including what coaches think about his motion. Lacks some adaptability, which is likely to hold back his development. Could use some maturing. Fort Hagen Draft Grade: C Analysis: Only four picks, so depth is an issue. However, three of their four picks were good value: Pitt, Siwel, and Shotgunhoarder. Shotgunhoarder helped move this draft from a C- or D to a C/C+. Could have found better value with their 3rd-round pick--SP Cosen Lindstrom or SP Wylee C. Yotay. No 4th-round pick. Fort Hagen is a stacked team talent-wise, so all players are for the far rather than near future. Still, may want to hoard picks for the next couple of years to improve overall depth at C.I. T. Ruins. Rd 1 (#23) - 3B Beyemeff Pitt Skills: Could develop as an infielder or outfielder. Has decent range and instincts, even though he is not a fast runner. Has the range and arm strength to be a shortstop but makes too many errors, so more likely a corner infielder or right fielder. Shows good overall bat skills, able to hit to any field with power. Could be a .300/20/60 type of hitter if he hits on all cylinders. Will not strike out a lot. Personality: Not an assuming person. Will naturally trust his teammates to do their jobs, so he plays his positions by the book, expecting players to hit the proper cutoff man and make the proper adjustments. Loyal to his team and teammates, made him a well-like player by South Charles Bank. Doesn't care about caps or finances. Rd 2 (#21) - CF Lewis Siwel Skills: A good pick at this spot, Siwel sees the ball well and can drive the ball out of the park. Like Pitt, he shows power to all fields, which looks like a skill the Silver Shroud wants in its young players. If he can develop making good contact, he could be a middle-of-the-lineup centerfielder, which could mean he is a potential star player. Needs to learn to better anticipate balls in the outfield, especially line drives, which he tends to overrun when hit right at him. May have to settle in at RF because of his poor outfielder's eye, though he can get to the ball fast and throw out aggressive runners. Personality: Battles with comprehending game mechanics, like his tendency to make the same mistakes in the outfield. However, he completes his drills well and does great when a coach is standing next to him. He works hard to be a good player but some of his intelligence problems makes it hard for him to understand nuances of the game. BYDL coaches taught him to zip the ball to 2B when he had problems understanding the purpose of a cutoff man. Rd 3 (#21) - SP Hard Cohen Skills: Cohen has three pitches with his changeup being his most dominant when he can get batters in a two-strike count. Exhibits some control problems. If he can overcome those problems--walks and wild pitches--then he has the potential to develop into anywhere from a 4th starter to a closer in the pitching rotation. Will probably take some time to get to the CBO, if ever. Personality: Has good ideas and loves to share them. Teammates are drawn to his personality, which makes him a team leader. Could have a future as a coach if the CBO does not work out for him. Rd 5 (#9) - 2B Davis Shotgunhoarder Skills: A great value pick at this spot, Shotgunhoarder could be the type of player that develops into a solid career guy. Somewhat surprising he went this low. He is a jack of all trades, master of none type. He has decent potential to hit for average but he doesn't have a whole lot of pop on his bat. If he develops his bat, he could be a .250 hitter batting in the bottom of the lineup. He does have decent speed, but he is not confident on the bases. That is something he needs to work on. He does use his speed to get to balls in a hurry. He is an OK defender, but will never be in the top tier of defensive players. Because of range but average arm skills, likely to be a career two-bagger. Personality: Enthusiastic and well-prepared before and during games. He is a rare breed who likes to study pitcher and hitter tendencies, allowing him to be ready in different situations. Adapts well to the flow of the game. Has a tendency to ask for a lot of favors, which did lead to some tensions among his teammates. Always looking for someone else to pay for him even when he has caps on him.

November 2299 - News and Notes - November 9
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 9 November 2299 Goodneighbor Trades Burton for Concord's Rookie Pick Several Hancocks and Radstags players soon will have to start shopping for a new home. It was announced today that the two teams came to agreement on a trade. Goodneighbor will get 19-year-old 2nd-round draft pick LHP Muck Grimaldi (#31 overall) and 27-year-old minor league RF Rich Vendor and Concord will pick up 29-year-old RHP Aaron Burton in return. "I'm not surprised by the news," Grimaldi told reporters, "It's part of the business and I understand that. I am looking forward to playing for the Hancocks." In 12 appearances for the Hancocks in 2299, Burton was 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 16.0 innings pitched.

I'm liking the Boys' draft this time around - much better than last year, as you said. I like the look of Mattingley and Koontz, hoping that promise is fulfilled.

Looking at this breakdown now, I'm actually surprised only one pitcher in the top 10! (Unless I need to get that eye exam a little earlier than I had planned). That definitely doesn't seem to be how drafts usually go. Excited to see what Roxbury can do with a player of that quality, as Laloosh seems like a great pick, though of course a team can't be carried by one man alone.

He is a nice addition to the Atom Cats. They now have five players with green potential at Cabot House, which higher than most teams. Rabbit is one of them. Like I mentioned in your dynasty, a Rabbit Forest (sic) had to make his way to this dynasty!

Their picks in the first three rounds all look like they have the potential to move up, which is all a team can ask. They also have Maxx Murtagh almost ready for the CBO. I have no idea where they would play him with Ryan Combs already there. Perhaps they need to move him for even more depth. Upgrade SS or C? They have options and a solid squad all around.

Something I found interesting while taking a quick look again through the draft. According to the BNN ranking for overall potential, the top two players were starting pitchers: Nuke Laloosh and College Luckyman. Roxbury took both of those guys, 1-1 and 2-1, respectively. Wow. Roxbury may have had the biggest steal for Luckyman to fall that low. Let's take a look at him. Skills: Helped the North Charles Goonies win the BYDL in 2297 and 2298, though they fell short to Beerthirty in 2299. Went undefeated his last two seasons in the regular season (20-0 in 26 starts). Had a no decision in the 2299 championship game. Has three good pitches and a fourth pitch that needs development. Fastball tops out at 93 but his changeup is devastating and should only get better. Considered a future ace prospect. Personality: Has the "stubborn" tag to his name, not because he is not coachable but because he is rigid in his routines and likes to do things his own way. That makes the culture of a club off-putting to him. He has no particular loyalty, so he will do what is best for him over the team, including pulling himself out of games when he doesn't "feel it." He can learn new things well and will probably add a pitch or two to his repertoire in time.

Mysterious Stranger's Cache
I made a note to myself to return to GNR and monitor the Mysterious Stranger's terminal. He seems to get a message from the same person every 11th day of November about a baseball league somewhere else. There is never a four-number year, but since it comes on the correct year's date, I assume it is all new. Piper told me she told Nate about what I found. He was nonplussed.
So, I'm digging here, and I am starting to discover a history, a very interesting history. I'm looking to piece all of this together into some sort of baseball volume and add it to the Boston Public Library. Maybe the CBO HQ, too, if Nate approves. Anyway, sure enough, there was a new entry today. I transcribed it below at the best of my abilities due to all the symbol interference. I don't know if it is some code or just a glitch in the system. I also need to search the library for what some of these places are. Let's see . . . Goosesprings, Veg@s, Allotech. In another entry, there was a mention of a place. Something like Mo??ve. I want to find out. Date: 11.11.99 There was some hope this year. There was. A council was formed to hear people’s concerns. They had put out information about the growing violence against citizens here. There were concerns about once important people disappearing in the night. I was not a part of that council thankfully. Why? The entire council is gone, missing, no news, nothing. Oh, yeah. House automatons back online. Barking orders in the streets. Gunning down people who don’t listen. Baseball. Yes, of course. The Allotech Mutants won their first. They were the ^ops C#@&no before. Can’t believe it’s been almost 7 yrs since the ????? were shut down. Veg@s doesn’t feel like Veg@s.

November 2299 - News and Notes - November 13-21
Not a lot happening, so a few stories before a little creativity.
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 13 November 2299 Rookie, Meet Deathclaw Nothing says welcome to the CBO like a little thrashing from a Deathclaw on your way to the team facilities. That happened to Finch Farm Four Leafs 5th-round draft pick Stole Greeson as he left a stay in his hometown of Brockton on his way to Finch Farm for a uniform fitting and rookie camp. Greeson and the caravan he was with found a lone deathclaw in their path. The creature attacked, killing one crew member. Greeson was injured when the deathclaw swiped him with its tail while he was stabbing it from behind with a Chinese officer's sword. According to a statement from Four Leafs GM Nick "Gunner" Jones, "We received word that Stole was attacked by a deathclaw. We heard that he is in Quincy Hospital getting treatments for his injuries but that he can join our team by the end of the month. He does not have any severe injuries." Greeson was a 5th-round pick out of the Cape Cod Youth League where he played for the West Dennis Menaces and had a 7-2 record in 13 starts there with a 1.47 ERA. He has a great fastball that reaches 96 MPH, with a good cutter. He does have some control issues and relied on bad at bats to pick up many of his strikeouts. He will need to change that tendency to have a chance to make it to the CBO. The OSA also listed on his scouting report that he is "a legend in his own mind." 15 November 2299 Quincy Gunners Ship Derp to Roxbury It's all done except the paperwork. The Quincy Gunners and the Roxbury Knuckle Punchers have agreed to a trade that will send 27-year-old minor league 3B Dan Derp and 22-year-old RHP Walt Barbed to Roxbury, while 34-year-old RHP Plow Holdgun will be shipped to Quincy. GM Gunner Sprague of the Gunners described the trade talks as "quick and easy." "We're glad to get this deal done. We think it's something that helps our ball club and it didn't take too long at all to sort this one out," he said. Holdgun has no saves during his career with a 1-1 record and a 5.68 ERA. 20 November 2299 Kilgore Disappointed in Rejection Egret CF Kurt Kilgore has been trying his hand at a new hobby, poetry. Today he received bad news from the League of Extraordinary Poets that his entry into their club does not hold merit. Kilgore entered a three-lined poem that he titled, "Tupelo." It reads, "When the tupelo / Goes poop-a-lo / I'll come back to youp-a-lo." The letter from the League was a scathing review of his work. Kilgore allowed Publick Occurrences to provide an excerpt: "This has to be the worst poem to ever cross our review board. What is a 'tupelo'? Also, you cannot just make up words to make a rhyme. You are no Magnolia! . . . Please do us the honor of never submitting a poem to our League again. It would be too soon to read your works." According to Kilgore, he considered entering another poem, but thought it would go over the League's head because they may not know what high school is. He calls it, "16." It reads, "Roses are red, / And ready for plucking, / You're sixteen, / And ready for high school." Kilgore said that he will not let the League's rejection affect him. According to Kilgore, "It's back to the writing board, et cetera." 21 November 2299 Knuckle Punchers No More The Roxbury Knuckle Punchers have officially announced today in an unveiling ceremony that they will no longer be the Knuckle Punchers but have changed their team nickname to the Rad Sox. They uncovered banners around Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury today and modeled their new uniforms and stadium banner (shown below). According to team owner Arlen Glass, "We feel new and better things coming to our team. As a way to honor the Boston Commonwealth with a nod to the pre-War team and express our state of life today, we are now known as the Rad Sox. We feel this will boost our team to even more success than Toyland! Our future is now!" Glass also announced that the Mole Rats logo and name were for sale to any minor league team that would want it. They are also renaming their minor league affiliate, Forest Grove, to the Knuckle Punchers, or may even consider a similar name with the Knuckle Punchers logo. That final decision will be made by January 1 when the new league year begins.

Rad Sox.... I like it...
I have no special connection to the Red Sox or White Sox (though I'm an Illinois native), but I always like it when there's an abundance of Sox and alternative Sox. For example, I always like scenarios where there's an expansion to Reno named the Silver Sox (disregarding Reno not really being a viable expansion slot). It triggers my desire to collect one of each flavor, much like Nuka World does with all the flavors of Nuka Cola. |

2299 - NWL - Rookie Draft
Nuka News Update All the news you need about Bradberton and Nuka World by Evan Guy 21 November 2299 NWL Draft It was draft day! And Orange, Wild, Victory, Grape and Dark had the first five selections. As GMs prepared their final notes on the 2299 rookie class, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over Nuka World League. So many teams have their futures vested in today's proceedings. Some went all out for the hot pick, while others were content to take a mid-carder or dark horse. The picks were: Round 1 Round 1, Pick 1 - Orange Tourists: CF Man'oman Whurlizer Round 1, Pick 2 - Wild Gatorclaws: 2B Earthquake Saw Round 1, Pick 3 - Victory Cave Crickets: 2B Rowan Gardener Round 1, Pick 4 - Grape Painted Ghouls: CF Willy Mazehaze Round 1, Pick 5 - Dark Bloodworms: CF Boy Hobbles Round 1, Pick 6 - Quantum Nukalurks: RF Kell Leek Round 1, Pick 7 - Cherry Ghoulrillas: SS Mike Blackheart Round 1, Pick 8 - Quartz Star Force: SS Marmalot Hooch Round 2 Round 2, Pick 1 - Orange Tourists: SP Sooner Coen Round 2, Pick 2 - Wild Gatorclaws: RF Voodoo Cerrano Round 2, Pick 3 - Victory Cave Crickets: 1B Savoy Slurp Round 2, Pick 4 - Grape Painted Ghouls: SP Steven Nebraska Round 2, Pick 5 - Dark Bloodworms: 2B Aaron Kingcola Round 2, Pick 6 - Quantum Nukalurks: CF Tom Starcontrol Round 2, Pick 7 - Cherry Ghoulrillas: CF Tubby Cricket Round 2, Pick 8 - Quartz Star Force: RF Damani Burnman Round 3 Round 3, Pick 1 - Orange Tourists: 2B Stade Whack Round 3, Pick 2 - Wild Gatorclaws: SP Jackie Taylor Round 3, Pick 3 - Victory Cave Crickets: SS Quentin Antfarm Round 3, Pick 4 - Grape Painted Ghouls: SP Adam Atomicroller Round 3, Pick 5 - Dark Bloodworms: SP Brux Former Round 3, Pick 6 - Quantum Nukalurks: C Dobbie Bloodworm Round 3, Pick 7 - Cherry Ghoulrillas: CF Davis Pacman Round 3, Pick 8 - Quartz Star Force: CF Rowboat Kinsella Round 4 Round 4, Pick 1 - Orange Tourists: SP Jumpy Haystack Round 4, Pick 2 - Wild Gatorclaws: SP Bip Tram Round 4, Pick 3 - Victory Cave Crickets: SP Yolo Minigun Round 4, Pick 4 - Grape Painted Ghouls: SP Chemmy Good Round 4, Pick 5 - Dark Bloodworms: RF Ken Click Round 4, Pick 6 - Quantum Nukalurks: SP Grape Willis Round 4, Pick 7 - Cherry Ghoulrillas: SP Two Shoes Jackson Round 4, Pick 8 - Quartz Star Force: SP Couch Buttemaker Round 5 Round 5, Pick 1 - Orange Tourists: SP Bossy O'Malley Round 5, Pick 2 - Wild Gatorclaws: SP Little Dan Berton Round 5, Pick 3 - Victory Cave Crickets: SP Dummy Luck Round 5, Pick 4 - Grape Painted Ghouls: SP Buster Kingdom Round 5, Pick 5 - Dark Bloodworms: SP Max Safari Round 5, Pick 6 - Quantum Nukalurks: C Cade Nukacade Round 5, Pick 7 - Cherry Ghoulrillas: 2B Chris Cappy Round 5, Pick 8 - Quartz Star Force: 2B Stevie Six

I agree with OrangeP47! I think things have developed - are developing really well in a natural [unnatural!] way

![]() ![]() ![]() I believe I have arrived at my final destination for current CBO teams for what their team nickname will be. I don't want to change any of the rest, and some are just perfect from my POV: Salem Witch Hats, The Slog Ghouls, University Point Deathclaws (in-game association), Diamond City Swatters (of course), Vault 81 Dwellers, and Atom Cats. I guess the Hancocks could change if Hancock ever dies and then has a new owner, but probably not. I have the right amount of creatures/beings of the wastes: Ghouls, Assaultrons, Bloodbugs, Synths, Radstags, Deathclaws, Mirelurks, and Yao Guai. I considered Super Mutants in there, but then had two teams, one in the BMU and one in the upcoming Far Harbor league that are Behemoths. I may still change up that Far Harbor team, though their mascot is different. And of course, every logo that features the Fallout boy is an in-game perk: Party Boys, Four Leafs, Lady Killers, Chemists, and Ninjas. Those are some of my favorites for team nicknames. Some of the goofier perk names/logos were left out or designated for the BMU. There were certainly some teams that I was happy to change: East Boston Prep to Easy Town (my naming of the area based on Easy City Downs in-game); Jamaica Plain Treasures to Red Rockets because the Treasures logo was just terrible, even though it did have an in-game association; Egret Scrappers to Ninjas, again because of my dislike for the logo and the Fallout Boy perk did not convert well; and Fairline Hill Estates to FHE because I hated typing out Fairline Hill Estates and kept wanting to add an 's' to every word. I will definitely tweak the BMU more. There is a story coming up about the NWL and that, too, will change in the future once I have the time for graphical creativity. Also, the CBO is not finished for its number of teams (not expansion, exactly, but a future need for another level of minors to accommodate the sheer number of players and help develop young players better). For the BMU, current changes I have planned are: change the Mole Rats to the Knuckle Punchers, but maintain the color scheme for the BMU team; and relocate one team to Graygarden (maybe for 2301) because there just needs to be a team there and now Oberland has its own riverside stadium to play in. There are a few team nicknames I am reconsidering changing, but I have made no immediate decisions.

November 2299 - News and Notes - November 23
Supermax creature event!
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kawolski 23 November 2299 Glowing Sea Field Trip Disaster: What Were They Thinking? Finch Farm's farm team, the Galleria Robotics Experts, is hurting today after a team-bonding trip to the Glowing Sea turned disastrous on Wednesday. While in the Glowing Sea, a pod of glowing radscorpions suddenly emerged, injuring many, but thankfully killing none, though there are some casualties. Seriously injured were RP Mark Bartolotti, 2299 2nd-round pick SP Machine Man Fortune, SP Michael Hamman, RP John Irwin, 2298 2nd-round pick CF Jace Nightwatch, and Oberland 2298 1st-round pick 3B David Yellowsky. Only Fortune and Yellowsky's injuries are considered to be milder and they are not in threat of losing life or limb. Hamman and Nightwatch are considered in critical condition, while it is unclear the severity of Bartolotti and Irwin's injuries. The disaster in the Glowing Sea follows an already bad month for the Four Leafs organization. Earlier this month, reliever Bull Johnson took a leave of absence to accept an internship at Nuka-World. Also, 5th-round draft pick Stole Greeson was injured by a deathclaw to meet up with teammates for Rookie Camp. That makes Fortune the second 2299 pick injured by a wasteland creature. Catcher Blitzen Rosetta also took leave in September to find relatives in the North. The Robotics Experts designated players broke camp on November 18 to head to the Glowing Sea for a bonding adventure. Thankfully for the team, they were armed to the teeth while visiting the Glowing Sea, or there may not be a Robotics Experts team in 2300. "We're aware of the situation," Four Leafs GM Nick "Gunner" Jones said. "We want the public to know that we did not approve that trip, but we're still hoping for the best for all players involved." Several other players received minor injuries that did not require treatment. For those who were injured, they were taken out of the Glowing Sea and are currently being treated in a facility in Vault 95. "It's been a terrible offseason for our BMU squad so far," Jones said. "Hopefully Lady Luck's dice start rolling a different team." I want to take the time to question the intelligence (or lack thereof) of thinking it would be a good idea at all to risk death in the Glowing Sea. The wastelands are dangerous enough, and even news of a teammate being attacked on the way to the Boston area did not make a light bulb go off in these guys' heads. Yes, I know. Most of them are young and living for the day, but the Glowing Sea? Really? We here at Publick Occurrences are going to dive deeper into this story. We don't know if anyone with Finch Farm will talk, but if someone did give this the OK, we also hope that Abraham Finch, owner of the team, makes heads roll. Really, Finch Farm. Our favorite stories about the CBO include winning games, fighting to win a league title, individual struggles at the plate or on the mound. We certainly do not like writing about players getting their heads knocked off by deathclaws or their hearts pierced by radscorpions. Finch Farm franchise, rookies, veterans, leaders, what were you thinking?
