Check out my 25 yr old 3 time Cy Young Knuckleballer from LSU, needs a nickname

Ryan Canfield is only 25 years old but the knuckleball pitcher from LSU has won 3 Cy Young Awards and 2 World Series with the Tokyo Giants in my 48 team fictional World League. His filthy knuckler has led the league in K's 4 years in a row.

Canfield is an appropriate cpu generated last name as he also has won 3 gold gloves.

Originally from Brownsville, Texas. This young star phenom needs a fitting nickname with his career on a HoF trajectory. Any ideas?

Can Ryan field? Ryan Canfield.

Sorry, I have nothing else, and yes, my family is ashamed of me.

Papillon. It’s French for butterfly. There is a heavy French influence on Louisiana, and trying to hit a knuckleball has been described as like trying to hit a butterfly.

Well Nolan Ryan was the Ryan Express so maybe Ryan Canfield should be the Ryan Metro? (i.e. slower / more stops).

Ryan “Can-Can” Canfield. Cancan - a dance considered scandalous and repulsive. Like trying to hit a knuckle ball.

I love giving nicknames to players...even some that aren't in my organization. Anyway, if I had Mr. Ryan Canfield on my roster, I would probably give him the nickname of "Fastball". Maybe something else that refers to speed or being fast somehow.

I do too, but it has to be organic

Like my second baseman Tristao Seixas who became "Sexy" because my Portuguese pronunciation is terrible

Or his new double play partner Domingo "Diamond" Estreito

Funny Nickname

If you want to inject a little humor into it you could use "Floater", as the knuckle ball floats to the plate. Alternatively, for a bit of "toilet" humor, you could go off the rails of Floater with "Mr. Hanky".

Have a Great day everyone!

Yup. That's how I do it too. I approach it just like I would in real life. A homerun hitter doesn't have to get a nickname associated with power or HRs. His nickname might be "Toothpick" because he made fun of a teammates bat with a smaller barrel by calling it a toothpick one time.
