A.C.K.! (a.k.a. Aaron, Clemente, or Kaline)

I think that I have solidified that my next upgrade is going to be in RF. Which would you take?

- Hank Aaron 100 PEAK: A beast at the plate, solid D in RF and some flexibility to play other positions, middling baserunning but will cost me about 150K.
- Roberto Clemente 99 PEAK: Great Contact and very strong Power but Eye is a concern, maybe the best D and arm out in RF, baserunning is lacking, and will cost about 110K
- Al Kaline 98 PEAK: Cheapest of the three at a little under 80K, solid batting stats with fair L/R balance, excellent D in RF (but not Clemente levels), so-so baserunning.

Note that I am a F2P player so getting up near 150K takes a while.

I'd take 92 Ichiro who you can probably get for about 20-22k.

I already have him in place in CF. What I am doing now is slowly upgrading away from the Live Mission lineup that so many of us have. Ichiro is likely to be in CF for quite a while as I work on other positions.

I am a sucker for the players with insane defense. I pulled the trigger on Clemente. I’ll have to turn my attention to improving my rotation next.

Always depends on the league you're in.

Al Kaline since you said Free to play takes a lot to build up PP. Hes great vs LHP and his defense is just a notch below Clemente and the Eye and Avoid K will pay off in the long run. Use Kaline in CF (2 points below Clemente) and Ichiro in RF. Ichiro has won at least 5 Gold Gloves in RF for me in Diamond.

oops too late It's splitting hairs. I like to look up the player in the search to see how they fair on my league level when making a decision as well. That's something else to keep in mind.

I almost splurged on Aaron but now I have a bit of coin in the bank as I look towards my rotation next. Having Ichiro in center and Roberto in right should be worth a few gold gloves.

You can't go wrong with Aaron.

Having said that Clemente holds a special (albeit relatively small) place in my heart...and was an incredible ballplayer. And Kaline is a bargain. (at least relative to the other 2.)

I don't see you being disappointed with a mint Aaron card.

Honestly they spend half the game out there...the 1st time I noticed a really great team it was because of superb defense. & the one thing wrong with a team I had that otherwise was 1st in batting WAR & 4th in batting WAR was relatively terrible defense...they played only 4 games over .500 for the season. Those plays that extend innings...very frustrating.

Used Ordonez on 2 of the 5 Flyers PL championship teams in late innings at SS. Funny thing too, he hit some GW singles despite the .208 average and no power. You get lucky sometimes. And merely good hitters don't do much better than that (getting lucky)...Tony Gwynn, Hank Aaron, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Darryl Strawberry, Pete Rose... Shoeless Joe, Ruth, Piazza, DiMaggio, guys who sort of conquered Major League pitching so to speak are pretty amazing to watch. (or read about in some cases.)

Neither, get the new SE Lynn instead. 150k is a lot to dump on one player for teams that accumulate PP slowly.

Gonna go with QuC here in suggesting none of the above. SE Lynn is so cheap and totally playable, you can put the extra points in other key spots.
