Please explain how fatigue is applied to RPs and SPs used as RPs
Recently I started using SPs in the bullpen and I do change their role to "reliever" so they appear as "RP" in the bullpen.
I had one of the SPs pitch 0.2 innings and his "status" went from 100% to 30%. I had another SPs pitch 1.1 innings and his "status" went from 100% to 15%. Meanwhile, the default RPs can ptch 1.0-3.0 innings and they go from 100% to 60-70%. This seems backwards to me. What is going on here? Are SPs not supposed to be used as RPs? Does the stamina of the SP get ignored or is "0" used? |

last year putting SP in the bullpen was a very strong strategy...almost a cheat code to save roster spots, since they could rack up 130+ innings in the stopper role. So in response, they nerfed SP stamina when used in the relief role this year. They can no longer pitch back to back, and so you can't get away with 5-man bullpens anymore. Seems like stoppers can only pitch about 100 innings now, i.e. the nerf was effective.

Make sure you adjust your individual pitching strategy settings for you pen guys as well. Plus your global strategies in general.

I guess starters are not accustomed to pitching 2 or 3 times in a 5 day span, they are used to 4 days rest between in game work. Also, even if they only pitch 0.2 innings, they still get loose and throw to get ready to come into the game, which they usually do much less than relievers.

Keep in mind, a player's status will show based on the position they are set to, but the in-game fatigue will depend on what actual role they are used in.
So, for example, if a guy is still listed as a SP, even pitching to a couple batters in one game will show him very tired for the next one, since he wouldn't be able to throw a full game as a starter the next day. But if you change his position to a RP, then he'll show his status as a reliever, which in that case will be more rested. But what's actually used is what role they enter at. So if he's listed as a SP, he might show at 15% status for the next day, but he might still pitch on that day anyways, because the game is treating him there like a reliever, where he might be 70% rested. |

Somewhat along these lines - my SPs that I've put in the bullpen aren't getting the stuff boost that would be expected... is there a certain way this happens? Or an amount of time that they need to be in the bullpen before their stuff increases? Or has that boost gone away?

Thanks - but for some reason, no increases are showing up, even for SP who (I'm told and I've seen) should be getting the boost... is this working for other people? I'm just wondering if I am doing something wrong or if it should show up immediately when they're moved to the bullpen.

Some people don't want that? We do sometimes - if you swap a SP and a RP in your pitching staff, I believe by default it sets their positions based on their roles. But maybe you want to manually change their positions around to check things out, so if you set a guy to a certain position, we respect that and show that to you.

Yes, when swapping someone from bullpen to starter, the starter automatically changes to RP but when promoting someone from reserves it does not.

I think that how many pitches they throw goes into the "fatigue." Native RPers throw 10 pitches, their stamina goes down 10...Native SPers turned RPs throw 10 pitches, their stamina goes down 20.
Perhaps Matt can confirm or add to this?
