How is he exhausted
6 pitches in a week and is tired? How?

Even though he only threw 6 pitches, because he's a starter it deems that he had an extensive warm up to get ready to start (most likely even if he came on in relief).
If you change his position to a reliever it will probably show 100% availability, or something close to it. Last edited by The_Savage_1; 03-30-2019 at 03:07 AM. |

For whatever it may be worth, my relievers are also not recovering in the same manner they did in 19. Not being 100% after 3 days off from pitching seems irregular to me.
Is anybody else noticing similar irregularities?

I do notice the recovery rate seems a little slower for pitchers. Takes everyone a little longer to recover than previous experience. I wonder if this was done by the dev's to make the PT game play a little more balanced and not too overpowering on the pitching side. Perhaps also to curb the 4-man rotation craze and make it play to truer to modern day. Kind of makes sense to me. |

Yup. My relievers are tired, all the time, at all times, every inning and every pitch. If that was the base game, it would be torn labrums and rotator cuffs galore. That's a slight exaggeration, but yes, I did notice. It was particularly brutal in EL. It's still bad but at least I've got a rested reliever sometimes now. I was doing an opener/follower/stopper experiment during our initial entry pool league phase. Had a whole rotation of openers (mostly RPs), followers (mostly SPs), and stoppers. I quickly realized that even though my followers/SPs were only pitching 1-3 IP they were becoming exhausted just as quick as any other RP. I think the stamina degradation has changed from 19. I still think its beneficial to have one SP in the pen to soak up long relief but it definitely won't save your other RPs. An appearance alone seems to take away a huge amount of stamina after the game.

I believe OOTP considers the fact that the followers (SPs) prepare for their outing similar to regular starters and pitch warm ups, so they all experience a big initial drop.
I think it also depends on the quality of your pitchers. I noticed my bullpen was always tired during the beta stage because none of them was able to get out of innings and more of them ended up getting used compared to when I utilized a higher ranked gold/diamond combo as opener and follower. I initially thought there was a bug or pitchers got tired faster but I could not reproduce it once I utilized better pitchers.

The game is different. I keep 1 extra long reliever to compensate.

I like the change. in PT 19 you could get away with just a 6 man bullpen with one of those being a LH specialist even. now you pretty much need a "real" pitching staff

I am inclined to like it as well. It makes roster construction more complicated, forcing us to make more choices. Choice is a good thing.

Please do keep us to date on impressions. We likely won't be touching fatigue in the near term, but will likely come back to revisit things later. I'd agree with the case above with the 6 pitches shouldn't so drastically kill a SP, but we do always have to be careful about fatigue logic so we'll wait until all the first rounds of bug fixes are out the door and stable before we revisit and balance other changes.
