You have a winning record in Gold, so maybe nothing? Hard to tell without knowing what the other teams in your division are like. Just my thoughts, but the first thing that stands out to me is you seem to be sacrificing defense for offense. Improving your defense should make your pitching better, but it's a trade-off too.

I guess I am used to leading my division and the pitching has been atrocious this year. I looked at compareable team's and teams with better win records have horrid defense efficeny as well, I suppose it is a trade off not sure what to do to fix the pitching. |

I'm not sure you're doing anything wrong. You've got a .521 winning percentage, which is pretty good in a competitive league.
Your offense looks fine to me. The problem is your pitching and defense (which work together). A few thoughts: Carew and Altuve are a bad SS/2B combo defensively. I'd suggest moving Altuve back to 2B (he's lousy defensively there too, but at least playable), and look for an upgrade at SS. There are some good silver options with decent hitting + defense like Pesky and Vizquel. You could also look at some less expensive gold options like Boudreu, Cronin, or Bell. Ideally you'd platoon a couple of these guys to improve the offense. I'm not sure how good Betts is defensively at CF, but you may want to consider moving him to RF, dropping Ichiro to a backup/platoon role, and getting someone with 80+ def in CF. There are some good silver options if points are an issue, or try a gold like Agee or Blair. Agee was great for me -- 5+ WAR two consecutive seasons -- and he's usually available for around 1,500 points. Snell and Strasburg aren't great SP options. I'd sell both and use the proceeds to buy some combo of a good gold like Bonham, Corbin, Dierker, or Perry (89), a cheap live diamond like Severino or Kluber, an underrated silver like Barker or Soroka, or a better historical diamond like Beckett, Carpenter, or Syndergaard. I think your most effective improvements will come from upgrading your defense and improving your SP, both of which should be pretty easy to do. Last edited by Weaseltail; 12-21-2018 at 06:28 PM. |

In your position I would try to improve my rotation/bullpen with more balanced pitchers, try to find underrated silvers/golds. Barker is better than Snell for example. Everyone has Dierker for a reason, hes awesome and balanced. I dont like to give free bases so the bases on balls category would be a top priority to me.

Heh, a lot of us in gold are used to leading our divisions. It just gets getting used to that sometimes other teams might have better players than we do. Or we can curse the random number gods, like I do. |

The discussion regarding defensive improvement focused on Carew and Altuve (and rightfully so), but what was Eddie Collins doing over at 3rd in the first screenshot? Is he fully trained there? Even if he is, is he good enough at the hot corner with an arm as weak as his? Hopefully switching to Baker helps both offensively and defensively.

Given his players, I'd play Collins over Altuve, if only due to the fact he's a superior defensive player.
