position locking

How do you lock a player to one position. I would like my ss to learn second base in the minors and he keeps getting moved around.

Thanks.

Right click on the player, select Set Game Strategy, Force Start at Second Base (on the bottom left somewhere).

You can get to the Player Strategy screen via the Strategy tab (between Lineups and Front Office) as well. In that case, you have to select the right minor league roster, then drag your shortstop into a box on the bottom left (clicking on the player just takes you to that player's profile). I always use the right click method.

That's what I do but I get the best of both worlds by asking the Bench Coach for his lineup ideas first. Then I edit to suit my own agenda.

And, if I do what Silfir recommends even before asking the Bench Coach, then what the coach comes up with for his lineup will already comply with my standing wishes. That saves me lineup editing time because I only have to look at and decide on what I have not already mandated.
