Jim Unknown for the HOF!
Any way Jim Unknown could consistently perform at the level of a replacement player or worse?
Getting kinda tired of opposing AA affiliates with one SP in their rotation having Jim Unknown tossing 6 innings of 2 run ball in the other 4 rotation spots. Granted, he stinks sometimes but not nearly enough for a "ghost" player. Don't wanna have real players on your team - pay the price. Please and thank you. EDIT: As I typed this - Jim Unknown with another dandy beats me with 5IP, 3H 2ER, 1HR.

Tried - you then get the NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS notification and the game can't continue. About half of my AA affiliates have ghosts.

If your in challenge mode you can enter league setup of the minor league and fill team with random fictional players. They will be at least from that point on real players. Really depends on what you are after in your file and what your setup is. Personal preference I gather. |

you need more players per year. it takes ~7-10 years to see results of the changes you make on the mil system.
some basic math can help predict need too. # of most teams at any level? any restrictions due to age or service time? deduce how many players you need for that window of time and make sure there are enough rounds in the draft that add up to enough players to fill those teams during that window of time. attrition occurs. some players need to float through the system without hinderance (5-10 /year). usually the fattest part is rookie league, so attrition won't matter much as long as their are fewer AAA/AA teams than lower levels. what you are experiencing is exactly why a few extra is better than too few. if it's a real mlb league you will have some teams with more rookie teams than others. the teams with fewer inevitably have a gluttony of mil players in their farm system, since they are drafting the same # of rounds as the teams with more mil affiliates. you fill one, the other gets over-filled. it does not cause any serious problem. I had A-ball affiliates and did away with those this year, hoping that would take care of it. Looks like I still need another 50 or so guys to get rid of the ghosts. Then again, Jim also makes appearances for my team - just did in AAA ball. Pitched an inning of relief when I have a fully staffed and mostly rested pen. Wasn't a blowout either, not that that should matter.

Jim Unknown is not a replacement player. He is just a Player they are neither great nor terrible, but like any other guy he can have good days and bad. Ghost players are designed to allow you to play the game with incomplete rosters. If they all preformed like replacement players or below people would be complaining how unrealistic it is. There is a solution however. I personally just ignore them when they are in use!
