Question
Maybe somebody can tell me how this works in real life that way I can try to do my best to implemented in the game.
So when teams change minor league affiliates are they Basically trading affiliates with another team or where does that new affiliate come from? And do they take the players with them?

The easiest way to change affiliates in OOTP is to simply rename the teams.

Does any consideration need to be made for the team id?

The team id stays the same even if the name changes.

Just remember the renaming the teams means you are keeping the history of the old team with the new one.....so if you want to move your AAA affiliate from lets say El Paso to Indianapolis, renaming them will keep the El Paso history with the new Indianapolis and vice versa.....
I posted this a while back... It takes a little work: 1) Enable Commish Mode 2) Go to the AAA team you want to be yours and select ALL players 3) Demote them to Double-A 4) Next go to your Triple-A affiliate 5) Select all the players and demote them to Double-A 6) Make sure that there are NO players on either team's roster 7) Go to League settings for the league 8) Select League & Teams 9) Change the Affiliation drop down for the team you want to your team 10) Do the same for the team you are trading with the other team and you are all set ** Just note that the Manager, Hitting and Pitching coaches will remain with the teams, so if you want to swap them, you will have to go in and manually edit them to the new teams. CBD's way is easy, but IF you want to keep the history of a team, then my way does that...no need to go in a reassign logos, uniforms, caps, ballparks, city coordinates, weather info, ect. And in all honesty, it takes less than 5 minutes to do the steps I posted....but it's your game, play it how you want. |
