Can "Rainouts" Be Disabled?
Is it possible to disable the "rainouts"?
it's not covered in the manual. Does the rescheduling of rainouts work well? |

Define work?
The games get rescheduled and it seems to me to be a double header the next time the teams meet. It is interesting when the players are different due to injury, trades, etc but I haven't seen it be a deal breaker. I don't know if it follows 100% with real life and only judge it on how it impacts my pitching staff. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

This is how I disable rainouts. Use the ballpark editor to change the rain % to 0 for each park. (Might be tad tedious if you have a slew of parks, though)...

It works, but it could be better. Note that OOTP only uses the major league rescheduling method for postponed games (the minor leagues in real life use a different system), and only uses separate admission (i.e. day-night) doubleheaders. You won't see the traditional single admission, two-for-one doubleheader.

Eugene, you might like to checkout Questdog's Weather Mod:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ather-mod.html I use it, so that the games in my league will not have any rainouts...

I'm not saying it's wrong, but why wouldn't you want rainouts? It's a very common thing irl and is modeled well enough in ootp.

The thing I don't like about rainouts is the occasional scheduling of doubleheaders in TWO different cities. The afternoon game could be in New York and the night game could be in Los Angeles. Very unrealistic.

Yeah, this irks me to no end, but not to the point that I adjust the chance for rain. I just try to ignore it when this happens.

I play historical so when there is a rainout, I go in manually and change the game times to make it a traditional doubleheader instead of a day-night DH.
I'm not a fan of the "two-city" doubleheader when it happens on a team's last visit to a city so I may start scheduling it on a mutual off-day later in the season. Overall, I like the rainout feature, but I don't like the two-city doubleheader. But as I understand it from the board, it's an AI thing, especially in an MLB game, to make sure the home and away games balance. |

I don't know of the exact rules regarding financials but couldn't you just change the stadium when you play the game? That way it's a home game officially but you still play in the stadium of the regularly scheduled game

True. However, sometimes I'd found that some of the rescheduled games where showing up on the next season's schedule and I had to go in, find and edit them out. Not sure if this has been fixed for ootp17, but that's the bug that caused me to eliminate rainouts all together.

Eugene, it seems to me that the "set the rain % in the ballparks" trick would work well...

Does it reschedule the game without corrupting your league? That's all. I like the rainout feature and plan to use it, depending on what the gamers tell me in this thread. Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-14-2016 at 11:56 AM. |

Great workaround... and easy for me... no longer have 64 teams to administer... just 8 teams in the Southern Association. Hope I don't have to use your workaround... rainouts is a nice feature. Will use it if it doesn't have any glitches in it. Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-14-2016 at 11:54 AM. |

I put too much work in them to have a feature that isn't reliable. I only want features that are tried and true and don't create any problems. |

I hope I can reschedule this type of aberration by using the schedule editor. Will it cause any problem, if I edit that game in the schedule editor? |

This wasn't a big problem. I always run a schedule report at the beginning of each season to make sure my teams play each other the correct number of times home and away... you can find the report in the schedule editor. |

Just wanted to know if it basically reschedules the rainouts with no MAJOR problems. Should it ever reschedule the game in the wrong city, I can edit it in the schedule editor. |

Can I use the schedule editor to reschedule games myself, if the AI doesn't do it quite right? I like the feature... it will create realistic problems that managers have... how to manipulate his pitching staff when games have to be made up. |

I want to replay the league as close to reality as I can get, but I have to accept that I can only come close to recreating it... it will not be perfect. I'm hoping that the better teams in the league do well... they did in my test leagues... and hoping most of the ballplayers will be in the "ballpark" as far as season stats, knowing full well there will be some aberrations... but I can live with them. If a 6th, 7th or 8th place team wins the pennant, it will be my fault... I didn't give the players the proper ratings... I think the game will do fine in its replay... it will be as good as my ratings make it. I'm in my first month of play and it's looking pretty realistic statistically. I'm very pleased and really enjoying my Southern Association dynasty. |
