Well, a month and a half in...it seems we were all wrong about the AL Central. The Indians are about where I thought they'd be, but the Sox, Royals, and Tigers should have reverse of their current records. I guess that is why they play the games on the field and not on paper.
Weird, you guys haven't played the Sox at all and we only played 2 games against them in the first week. Could explain their start. (upon further inspection, the Sox schedule has been pretty easy, played a lot of the Twins...next handful are HOU, KC, CLE, KC, Mets, DET, WSH, KC, DET...guess we'll know more in June if they are for real) |

RIP Mr. McAuliffe. He lived here in CT and had his children at a school where my uncle was headmaster so I had the pleasure of meeting him several times.

That was a good shot in the arm. A little offensive eruption, pen and late bats overcome a shaky starter and Ausmus shows some emotion and gets ejected.
Big two game roll! Let's see if they enough to overcome what Pelfrey does to them tonight.

Ha, I watched the first inning and turned it off - figured Zimm could work with a 6 run lead. I was right, but barely. Just one of those nights with a lot of offense I guess.

I feel like a dirty traitor saying it but I don't care for Gibson on the broadcast team. He is surprisingly low energy over the air.

Survived another Pelfrey start, Miggy appears to be healthy and back to .500. Counting my blessings!

He is quite a bit different from Rod Allen. There is a managerial view that he comes with that is interesting sometimes, but he definitely doesn't get as excited as Rod and Mario when Rod is in the booth. Gibby is way better than Jack Morris though.

Rod Allen is just horrible. I won't even consider getting the Extra Innings package as long as he is part of the broadcast team. Had the free preview week to start the season, it took me all of 3 innings to change over to the Marlins broadcast, so I didn't have to listen to Rod. I like the little I've heard of Gibby. He has a great sense of humor.

His voice. He's attempts to be too folksy. Over the last few years he has developed Tom Grieve disease and spends entire games running down the opponent. He talks way way way too much. Hard for me to put into words actually, because I just won't listen to him anymore. The minute I hear his voice I either hit mute or find something else to do.

Hmmm. To each their own, I guess.
I've enjoyed him. I enjoy Gibby too, in his own way. I really enjoyed Gibby with Dick Enberg the other day. It may have had to do more with Enberg then Gibby, but they played off of each other very well, probably better than Rod or Mario could have.

I don't mind Rod Allen at all. I loved Morris as a player when I was a kid, but I have been very disappointed with him as an announcer. He comes off as very jaded and negative. Gibby has the knowledge no doubt, but he is dry to me.

I do quite like Rod Allen with Mario Impemba, they seem to play well off another. Kirk Gibson on the other hand I find really dull. He might have knowledge that former players that did not manage themselves might not have, but he's bringing it across like he's trying to market a very specific brand of raisin to a retailer. I do not enjoy him at all.

Looks like I'm just old. Y'all seem to like Rod. I simply can't stand noise and that is what he is to me.
