Aberdeen Iron Men 2005 ATHL Champs!
The Aberdeen Iron Men have defeated the surprising Federal League Wildcard Ocean City Waves in the 2005 ATHL World Series!
Much discussed phenom Darrin "The" Gross has won his 5th consecutive Federal League MVP, and fellow Louisville Jockey Michael Depalma has won his first Cy Young Award after becoming the first pitcher to have back-to-back 20-win seasons. In the Colonial League, 3B monster Edward "Sledge" Sedgwick has won his third consecutive MVP. Aberdeen's young ace Manuel Hull has won his first Cy Young Award in a season that included 3 post-season wins, including a complete game in Game 6 to clinch the Series. Check out the site! ATHL |

Definite "Golden Era" stuff. Big names and legends of monumental status. 7 teams with 97 wins or more but an 81 win team made the World Series on the back of a closer that was selected in the draft that year.
As an aside, the fierce rivalry between the Louisville Jockeys and the Memphis Express went the way of Louisville as they came back from 2 games and won 3 straight against the unorthodox tactic of starting the bullpen by the Express.

In the meantime, you also have my team, who has mastered winning in the regular season by means of decent pitching and stellar hitting. They have also mastered losing in the first round of the playoffs. Go A's! I mean, Monsoon!

Don't you mean Rangers from the late 90's?
