NYM Transaction:

Nolan Ryan is a now a member of the NY Mets.
I get him for Greg Gross from the HOU Astros.
I feel like a thief and maybe i should be arrested for stealing that guy.
Ryan might not have the HOF numbers as of now, but at 30 years old, he is now in his prime and he still has a long way to go.

I remember that we did not defend our title very well in 1971.
Hoping to change that tune this time.
The Prepredicts have us winnng the whole thing again.
With Blue, Sutton, Carlton, Reuss, and now, Ryan, no one is going to want to face this pitching staff.
The lineup ain't too bad either with Carew, Hernandez, Bench, Parker, Dent and the rest of the usual suspects.
Lets see if we can do it two years in a row.
MLB has expanded as the SEA Mariners and the TOR Blue Jays have joined the fun.
I will keep the playoff system where it is for now.
Top two teams in each division make it in.
So everyone...clap your hands and....

The NY Mets have one of their best starts in recent memory.
I knew we had to get out of the gate quick in order to defend our title.
But a 15-5 record for April was a lot better than i expected.
Particularly that we usually start slow in the beginning of the season.
We lead the NL East by 2 games over the CHI Cubs.
I hope we keep this ball rolling along and not slow down in the middle and end of the year.
Dave Parker gets the BOTM award.
Its a new year.
So lets have some fun.

Please believe me, i did NOT force that trade.
I have trading on Easy like i said.
Although, i have to admit, i did NOT expect the AI to offer Nolan Ryan for Greg Gross when i shopped Greg around.
I use Easy trading because sometimes the AI doesn't make good trade choices.
However, in this case, i do think the AI was punch drunk on this one.
Hey...sooner or later, Markus will get the Trade AI just where we want it to be.
In the meantime, Im still waiting for your HOU Astros dynasty.

I don't understand this at all

You're right, the ai sometimes makes poor choices. That's a reason for giving it all the help you can and playing at hard or very hard, both of which improve the ai's choices.

Playing at easy only assures you that the ai will make even worse choices than normal.

Sorry Lukasberger, i guess i didnt say that very well.
What i meant is that when i played on hard or very hard, when i shop a player around that I know the AI should take a shot at, the AI gives no responses at all.
On easy, i get responses that make some sense.
I don't mean to insult the AI at all.
Its just that on easy and below, the AI seems to give more offers to Trades that it should give me a response on.
On average, i still get nothing also.
ill will have to give an example.

Questions on your Dynasty

1 - Do you draft/trade for players your liked/idolized as a kid?

2 - Do you draft/trade for players you wished played for the Mets?

3 - Is your Dynasty about the New York Mets winning despite who plays for the Mets?

4 - Do you do any manipulation to any of the other teams?

1) The players i trade or draft for are players that i think have the best chance of helping my team overcome all obstacles and win the world series.
2) However, some of the players i have or have had on this team in this dynasty, i did wish played for the Mets when i was younger, such as Steve Carlton, Rod Carew, Willie Stargell, Gaylord Perry, and Phil Niekro among others.
3) My Mets are supposed to win no matter who plays for them.
4) I do not mess with any of the other teams.
Tom Seaver was my favorite Mets player when i was growing up.
He is on the SF Giants in my dynasty.

So be it.
I had to beat him in order to get to the world series against the TEX Rangers in 1973.
As i get into the later years, i would hope that i can get as many of the 1986 NY Mets players, which was my favorite baseball team.
But there is no guarantee that i would be able to draft or trade for the likes of Gooden, Strawberry, Wilson, Darling, Fernandez, Dykstra etc.
I keep the draft position i find myself in every year.
And since my Mets keep on winning division titles and NL Pennants, im always near the bottom of the draft order.
Keith Hernandez i was lucky to draft.
Now that my dynasty has reached the free agency era, it will be a lot harder to keep certain players on the team that i want.
Fergie Jenkins and Phil Niekro left in FA after 1976.
So, winning championships is going to be a lot tougher.
In my Expanded Playoffs Dynasty, however, i do give myself the 1st draft choice in every off-season.
But that is because i switch teams every 5+ years.
That gives me a little bit of an edge to try and win a title with every team in MLB history.
But, the OOTP engine is my biggest opponent.
Look at my Mets teams in my dynasty.
I only have TWO titles with a HOF rotation of Carlton, Blue, Sutton, Jenkins and Niekro.
Tug McGraw has blown a lot of playoff saves in this dynasty.
Nolan Ryan was just traded for this year.
And even with Stargell, Carew, Rose, and Bench, still only two titles.

I put the Trading difficulty on Very Hard for this example and i shopped Johnny Bench, who is the best catcher in this dynasty.
Are you telling me NO ONE has any interest in this guy?
If i was the GM of any other baseball team, im making a phone call!
Thats why i think the Trade AI needs some work.
The level of difficulty for Trading should not be how HARD it is to MAKE a trade, but instead, the QUALITY of AI responses to your Player shopping, and of course, the offers the Trade AI makes to you throughout the season.
For instance, i have the Trade AI offering me players at positions where im already good at all.
Why should the AI offer me a first baseman when the AI already knows i have Keith Hernandez at 1B?
Maybe in OOTP 17, you could also revamp the Trade AI where when i shop a player, i can choose the positions im looking for.
Kind of like Find a Player, but for shopping around, so that i could weed thru the chaff in order to find the wheat, so to speak.
Anyway, Lukasberger, you dont have to worry about me.
As you can tell from the THREE dynasties im doing, and now, helping the modding community, i am an OOTP player for life.
And i have more dynasty ideas brewing.
Just waiting for OOTP17, 18, 19, 20 or infinity.
Whichever comes first!
Anyway, back to baseball!

The NY Mets are tearing up the NL.
22-8 for June and 10.5 GA of the CHI Cubs.
Wayne Gross gets the BOTM Award, and Steve Carlton, another POTM Award to his credit.
Al Bumbry and George Hendrick got injured during the month, but both will be back soon.
No transactions right now.

I'm really enjoying this Dynasty. I recently started a Houston Colt .45s, from 1962. I just drafted Pete Rose to be my 2nd Baseman. During my first season, the yankees offered me Roger Maris for one of my top prospects and a reliever. I couldn't pass it up. lol

Be yourself.

IMO, these threads gave me the best outlines on how to run a classic dynasty, a real-time dynasty and a modern dynasty.
Then thanks to some great modders out there, such as Pwal, Justafan, and Fhomness, they made me want to take a shot at creating uniforms, caps and logos.
So much to do.
OOTP 17 will be even better.
But of course, the most important thing is to HAVE FUN!!!

So, I'm in the offseason of 1963. I managed to acquire 29 y/o RF Roberto Clemente, 23 y/o 1B Willie Stargell and 25 y/o SP Craig Murray from the Pittsburg Pirates for 23 y/o 1B Joe Pepitone, 22 y/o 2B Pete Rose (His potential dropped), 32 y/o C Ed Bailey and 30 y/o P Ken T Johnson. They wanted Maris, but I managed to not include him.

Did I win the trade, or did Pittsburgh?

pretty much a draw i think...Clemente and Stargell will be huge...Pepitone, you wont miss, but Pete Rose gets a lot better later.
