Thats why you should play on normal, it's more realistic. I do wish that rather there being an overall trade preference, that it went by team. some teams always prefer prospects over vets

Always? Is that really the sort of thing you'd like to see etched in granite in the game? Doesn't that really depend on a team's circumstances, which can assuredly vary from season to season? Yes, some teams are rotten for years on end and seemingly never acquire anyone other than prospects in trades. However, once they begin contending again, you often see them go into "win now" mode and make trades that previously would have been considered inconceivable for them to make.

A prime example of this IRL was 2008 Milwaukee Brewers acquiring C.C. Sabathia at the trading deadline. The Brewers had been bad for so long that they hardly ever made any moves at the trading deadline at all, and when they did, they invariably got back prospects for whomever they were trading. Suddenly in 2008, the Brewers were contenders again with a reinvigorated fanbase. They went out and acquired Sabathia at the trading deadline that year to try and push themselves over the top, a trade that they never would have considered if not for their current circumstances and contrary to every type of trade that they had seemingly made over the previous 15 years or so.

If it went by team in OOTP, as you suggest, trading preference would have to function like team focus does, which is contingent on a team's current circumstances. That, of course, begs the question that if you already have team focus determining the types of transactions a team makes, why do you also need a team preference in trading?

I think I misrepresented my point. I don't mean for it to be etched in stone. It should change as you say it should. I really should have just said what you did in your last sentence. Why have the preference in the first place? That's why I have mine on neutral. I believe the team focus is enough.

I think you should be able to enter criteria of what you are looking for.

Example LF between 23-28 years old

Sorry about that. Looks like I initially misunderstood you. Yeah, those are the settings I use as well. I don't like the results on anything other than neutral. The AI tends to either be too conservative or too reckless in its dealings depending on which direction beyond neutral you choose.

I just search the player list using that criteria in the CUSTOM option, and then pick whom I want to trade for from the list that appears.
