What do you base your mlb amateur draft decisions on?

I think one of the biggest flaws in this game is the lack of material to base draft decisions on. I'm in year 2 with the houston astros and maybe 10% of the guys have stats so I don't really have anything to base my draft decisions on but recommended scout pick and work ethic and intelligence. Maybe I am missing something but if not all the players have stats then what am I suppose to base my decision to draft players on? This is pretty frustrating.

Are you playing stats only?

1) hs or college stats
2) scout's numerical ratings
3) scout's text (not always a perfect match)
4) OSA ratings
5) personality -- particularly work ethic and intelligence

It seems to me that that gives quite a bit to work with.

The reason most of the players don't have stats is because most of the draft prospects for the first couple of years are real life players edited into the game, who don't have game generated stats to show. I wish I knew a workaround for your case, I wonder if Markus could code something to automatically generate HS/College stats based on players' ratings?

We'll eventually be adding those guys real life stats, it'll just take some time.

The workaround, if you don't care about having the real players, is to delete the entire draft class once it generates and then set another date for the draft class generation. Then the game will create fake players with generated stats.
