Confused

So I think I know what face-gen is, but the manual didn't really explain what it is and I cannot find anyone explaining it with a search so was hoping someone could help me out.

I think I grasp that face gen(photo-fit I see it called sometimes) is just a graphical image of the real player photo, but why would you want something fake over something that is real. Does this then take the current team's caps and uniform and put it on the player, is that the idea behind why someone would want face gen? Do these facegen photos take up less storage space on my server?

Then, my second question, is there a database of just the current players? I don't want to have to put in a historical database of players that I'll never use anyway if I can avoid it.

The facegens are cool because they're dynamic, unlike photos, which are static.

So long as you download the all-in one mod or another mod that has uniforms for facegen, the uniforms on the facegens automatically change to the uni of the current team when a player is called up to a big-league team or sent down to a minor league team, traded or signs with a new team.

Players with facgens can also grow or lose beards and other facial hair or change their expression at times.

Also for fictional leagues. There can be no player photos for fictional players.

What do you mean exactly by "all-in one mod". Is this the historical facegen project thread that you are referring to?

The all in one mod is found in the Add Ons Central section of your game menu. It adds all the stuff needed to update the 2013 MLB quickstart with real life logos, facegen graphics including team uniforms and quite a bit of other stuff.

You're welcome!

I think it's been around for a few years, I forget just how long. Since OOTP13 at the least. The add-ons central has quite a few mods. You'll find much more than just the all in one pack there, though that's probably the best mod in the section.

Facegen is a fun program and the best thing is anyone can use it, unless your a MAC user, see one of my threads or even my dynasty thread.

In both you will see players I or others have done. Roy Hobbs, Jake Taylor, a Navy SEAL with facepaint, paintings of Presidents and myself. 95% of them look like the actual person. You will occasionally get some weird ones. The file from the AIO - All in One, is great. Ventura looks like Ventura, Girardi looks like Girardi. Want to put Babe Ruth on the Cubs he still looks like Ruth except now he wears a Cubs jersey instead of being stuck in Yankees pinstripes.

If you are on a PC download play with it. Mugshot style pics bigger then 300 x 300 work best.

Plus as others have mentioned photos dont work in fictional leagues. You get some cool looking player FG's on occasion.
