Lightweight Second Round

Julio Cesar Chavez 75-7-4 (54) vs Bob Turner 16-5 (11)

Despite suffering a bad cut over his right eye in the fifth round, Chavez ground down Turner and floored him three times on the way to a wide UD. 99-88 x2 & 98-89

Benny Leonard 39-0-1 (26) vs Art Simms 12-7-2 (5)

Benny wasn't in the mood for a long night and he poured into Simms at the opening bell with three and four punch combinations that had him in a bad way when the ref stepped in late in round one.

Billy Petrolle 20-0 (15) vs Antonio Puddu 12-9 (2)

Puddu proved his toughness by never really being hurt but Billy dominated from the first bell to the last with hard body shots and hooks and uppercuts to the chin en route to the wide UD. 100-90 x2 & 98-92

Oscar DelaHoya 92-6-2 (62) vs Roberto Elizondo 15-6 (9)

Oscar suffered a bad cut over his right eye in round one but he maintained his composure, floored Roberto in round four and opened an even worse cut over Elizondo's right eye that eventually caused the fight to be stopped in round seven.

(WBA) Pernell Whitaker 79-1 (37) vs George Lavigne 16-5 (8)

Rematch: Whitaker TKO6

Whitaker dropped George in the third and fifth rounds and dazzled with his defense and lightning fast hands before taking his foot off the gas late and settling for a wide UD. 117-109 x2 & 116-110

Sandy Saddler 66-5-1 (54) vs Wallace Smith 13-7-1 (1)

Smith boxed well and stifled much of Sandy's vaunted offense to build up a lead through seven, that came crashing down in round eight when Saddler dropped him twice and opened a wicked cut over his right eye before the referee stepped in late in the stanza with Smith's head flying around like a pinball.

Diego Corrales 37-6-1 (30) vs Sammy Vogel 14-6-1 (4)

Chico connected with a devastating uppercut halfway through the opening round and he unleashed a series of hooks and uppercuts that rendered Vogel helpless and forced the ref to intervene late in round one.

Dick Finnegan 40-4-3 (9) vs Sonny Boy West 12-9 (5)

This was a highly competitive bout between two solid boxers, West suffered a bad cut over his right eye in round one and it was reopened several times before the referee stopped the bout due to the blood flow in round eight.

Lightweight Second Round

Cornelius Boza-Edwards 40-3-1 (28) vs Tracy Spann 10-10-1 (6)

Rematch: Boza-Edwards UD10

Edwards obliterated Spann with powerful left crosses and right uppercuts that had him wobbly from the opening round until late in round three when the ref saved Tracy from further punishment.

Ray Mancini 35-5 (26) vs Ricardo Silva 13-7-1 (5)

Boom Boom struggled to get off against the awkward Silva who used hit and run tactics and holding in close to frustrate his American rival. Mancini finally floored Ricardo in round nine with a right hand and dominated the tenth to avoid the first major upset with a razor close SD. 95-94 x2 & 94-95

Jose Napoles 39-1 (33) vs Jack Goldswain 12-9 (6)

The Brit put forth a valiant effort, but Napoles was just too gifted and he broke Jack down before dropping him in the ninth and tenth rounds before securing the TKO late in round ten with a vicious barrage of blows.

Lew Tendler 18-1-1 (11) vs Billy Hill 12-7-2 (7)

Lew overwhelmed Hill in the early going, including a body shot knockdown in round two. After trying to put Billy away for several rounds Tendler coasted down the stretch for a convincing UD. 98-91 x2 & 96-93

Sam Langford 97-3 (76) vs Giordano Campari 11-7-3 (4)

The Italian frustrated Sam at times as employed a spoiling style that kept him in it, but Langford diligently worked the body when he could and he iced Campari in round nine with a murderous overhand right.

Shane Mosley 53-6-1 (39) vs Ji Hoon Kim 11-8-2 (6)

Kim exploded out of his corner with a flurry of blows that backed Shane off momentarily, then Mosley dropped a devastating right hand flush on Ji-Hoon's chin that planted him flat on his face for the ten count after just forty-four seconds of action.

Gabriel Elorde 40-4 (22) vs Issac Hlatshwayo 29-30-2 (5)

At times Flash struggled with Isaac's size and he dropped a point for rough housing in the fourth round, but Elorde's class won out and he used a ninth round knockdown to help him advance via UD. 96-92 x3

Duilio Loi 36-3-1 (8) vs Jackie Blair 11-10 (5)

Loi's impenetrable defense was too much for the fantastic effort of Blair and the Italian coupled that with a steady jab to advance with a UD. 99-93 & 97-94 x2

Lightweight Second Round

Jose Luis Castillo 89-17-2 (54) vs Jeff Mayweather 12-9 (3)

Mayweather opened a cut over Castillo's left eye in the second round and used his jab and defense to build a slight early lead. Jose invested to the body and had 20 pt rounds in the fourth, seventh and eighth on the way to a sound UD. 97-93, 97-94 & 96-95

Ike Williams 36-3-1 (24) vs Ruben Navarro 14-6-1 (4)

Williams was superior in every area and he floored Navarro in round five before coasting to a UD over the last two rounds. 99-90, 98-91 & 98-92

Wesley Mouzon 18-1-1 (5) vs Horace Leeds 15-6 (3)

Mouzon flashed his dazzling speed of hand and foot and Leeds had no answers as he absorbed combinations from the opening bell to the last and Wesley took a wide UD. 100-91 & 99-93 x2

Roger Mayweather 52-10-2 (34) vs Hylon Williams 11-8-2 (2)

Mayweather hurt Hylon in the first two rounds with right hands before growing complacent and letting Williams sweep the last three rounds before coming up a tad short as Roger advanced via SD. 97-93, 95-96 & 96-94

Emory Cabana 16-2-2 (3) vs Mauro Vazquez 12-8-1 (6)

Rematch: Cabana UD10

Cabana repeated his preliminary win with a dull, but effective performance that led to another UD. 97-94 x3

Joe Brown 19-1 (12) vs Harlem Tommy Murphy 12-7-2 (2)

In a fast paced and entertaining bout, Brown was just too skilled for Murphy and he put his combinations together and won an impressive UD. 98-92 x2 & 98-93

Jimmy Carter 19-1 (7) vs Arthur King 13-7-1 (3)

Carter thoroughly pounded King, despite the scoring of one judge, and it got worse as the fight progressed. Jimmy floored him in round eight and dominated the final two rounds on the way to a clear UD. 100-90, 98-92 & 95-94

Aaron Pryor 56-3-1 (48) vs Kgotla Baeti 8-13 (2)

Pryor was floored by a right hand in the second round, but he went right back to work and started to brutalize Baeti in the third and Aaron sent the fans home when he flattened Kgotla for the count with a four punch combo in round five.

Lightweight Second Round

Carlos Ortiz 39-0-1 (20) vs Maxie Strub 12-6-3 (2)

Carlos put Maxie down for an eight count with a body shot late in round one. It took Strub several rounds to recover and by then Ortiz was well on his way to a concise UD. 98-90, 97-91 & 96-92

Willie Fitzgerald 18-0-2 (5) vs Kenny Baysmore 16-5 (11)

The first three rounds were tight but early in the fourth Willie landed a crushing right hand that staggered Baysmore into the ropes and Fitzgerald unloaded with both hands until the ref called a halt.

Jimmy McLarnin 53-6-3 (21) vs Jim Watt 16-4-1 (9)

Watt came up huge in the first two rounds with straight left hands and hooks to the body. McLarnin got it together and they fought on even terms until the eighth round when Watt caught him coming in with a short hook and floored Jimmy for a seven count. After a big ninth round for McLarnin, Watt closed in style and made the first upset a huge one with a MD. 93-98, 94-97 & 96-96

Erik Morales 92-16-3 (59) vs Billy Schwer 15-6 (5)

Morales was very sharp and though he never hurt Schwer, his powerful hooks and uppercuts closed his right eye and busted open his mouth to the extent that the damage caused the stoppage in round eight.

Ken Buchanan 16-2-2 (6) vs Battling Battalino 28-11-3 (10)

This was a tightly contested tactical battle with both men working well behind their jabs and scoring in tight with hooks to the body. Very little separated the two but Buchanan emerged with the difficult SD. 97-94, 94-96 & 96-94

Barney Ross 54-2-4 (17) vs Joe Shugrue 13-5-3 (2)

Ross dominated from the opening bell with sharp combinations and he busted open Shugrue's left eye in the fifth round and the fight was immediately stopped from the wound.

Sharmba Mitchell 51-8-1 (28) vs Pat Ford 11-10 (5)

Mitchell used his jab along with his swiftness of hands and feet to frustrate and control Ford en route to a dominant UD. 100-89, 99-90 & 98-91

Tony Morgano 15-4-1 (4) vs Edner Cherry 28-12-1 (1)

Tony used a constant stick and he held Cherry was he was able to get inside, by the second half Morgano was mixing in sharp right hands too and he won a well deserved UD. 98-93 x2 & 98-94

Shame about McLarnin, see judges differed on winner, how you score the fight?

Lightweight Second Round

Mando Ramos 18-1-1 (11) vs Texas Jack Burke 12-7-2 (3)

Burke made it rough from the get go, but Ramos was keen to that game and they traded on the inside with Ramos' speed getting more of his shots home. A right hand floored Burke in round six and Mando went on to take the UD. 98-92, 97-92 & 97-93

Esteban Dejesus 34-5-1 (24) vs Johnny Busso 13-7-1 (3)

'Vita' dominated Busso from the outset and he dropped Johnny with a trademark hook in the final round and cruised to a UD. 99-90 & 99-91 x2

Al Foreman 28-12-2 (7) vs Jimmy Murphy 10-11 (5)

Foreman broke Murphy's nose in the opening round with a straight right and both of eyes were swelling by the end of the second, the blood and swelling coupled with the non-competitive nature of the fight led to a referee stoppage in round four.

Bob Montgomery 17-2-1 (9) vs Teo Cruz 13-6-2 (1)

This was a well fought tactical fight, but Bob's superior power was evident and he dropped Cruz with a hook to the body in round seven and forced the stoppage with a barrage of blows in round eight.

Rocky Kansas 18-1-1 (7) vs Gato Gonzalez 13-6-2 (7)

This anticipated bout drew a large crowd in Mexico, and they were sent home disappointed as Rocky battered gato from the opening bell until the ref intervened in round two with Gonzalez floundering helplessly in the ropes under heavy fire.

Enrique Bolanos 17-3 (10) vs Aldo Spoldi 12-7-2 (5)

Bolanos gave the Mexican faithful something to cheer about when he attacked Spoldi with a brutal body assault that lowered his guard and Enrique iced Aldo with a murderous uppercut in round four.

Harold Jones 15-5 (3) vs George Bracken 14-7 (3)

Jones used his jab to keep Bracken mostly under control, George pressed the mundane fight but had trouble maintaining any success and Jones won a MD. 97-93, 97-94 & 95-95

Jimmy Paul 15-5 (10) vs Vilomar Fernandez 13-6-2 (2)

Paul's steady jab and powerful right hands kept the slick Fernandez at bay in a defensive posture for much of the fight, a series of right hands marked up Vilomar's left eye and had him in a bad way during the sixth round. Jimmy looked to try and finish him, but had to settle for a strong UD. 98-93 x2 & 98-94

Lightweight Second Round

Jose Luis Ramirez 19-1 (15) vs Juan Albornoz 38-23 (17)

Rematch: Ramirez DQ8

The rematch was another grueling inside bout but Juan kept it cleaner. Albornoz started quickly with swift combinations but the more powerful Ramirez broke him down as time went on and dominated with his punishing left hand down the stretch to earn a UD. 97-93, 97-94 & 96-94

Charley White 17-2-1 (5) vs Cesar Bazan 30-10-1 (16)

Bazan pressed a furious pace and while White landed sharp counters from both wings and appeared to be closer than the final cards, Cesar's pressure and volume led him to the upset UD. 93-98 & 94-97 x2

Sammy Fuller 34-3-3 (13) vs Eddie Cool 14-5-2 (2)

Sammy busted up Cool's face with 2 and 3 punch combinations, after three tough rounds to start, and Fuller took the sound UD. 97-93 x2 & 96-94

Frankie Randall 30-7-3 (19) vs Cesar Orta 10-11 (4)

Randall wasted little time moving on when he dropped Orta three times for the automatic stoppage after just over a minute had gone by in round two.

Beau Jack 18-2 (10) vs George Scott 15-6 (4)

Jack bore inside with disdain for George's punches and he went to work pounding the body and bringing uppercuts and right hands to the head. Scott countered effectively off of the ropes in what was a highly entertaining bout, but he couldn't match Beau's output and Jack moved on via UD. 98-92, 98-93 & 97-93

Robin Blake 18-2 (11) vs Rafael Ruelas 14-6-1 (11)

This had all the makings of a war and it disappoint. Robin stunned Rafael with a short left early in the second and he battered him until Ruelas came storming back with right hands and uppercuts that left Blake pinned in a corner eating leather to end the brutal round(19-21). The third was also tight and then the fourth was a virtual replay of round two where they both teed off on each other without even pretending to try and block shots with anything other than their faces (21-19) which are showing the affects with Blake having a badly swollen left eye and Rafael's right eye isn't far behind.

After that Blake tired and Ruelas floored him four times over the second half of the fight to advance with a wide UD. 88-98 x2 & 90-97

Brandon Rios 34-5-1 (27) vs David Diaz 27-13-1 (9)

Diaz was able to beat Rios to the punch in the early going with hooks to the body and overhand lefts to the head. As the rounds progressed Brandon landed the more powerful blows and nearly had David's left eye closed by the time the announcer raised Rios' arms for a UD win. 98-93 & 97-94 x2

Freddie Welsh 19-1 (3) vs Deuk-Koo Kim 15-4-2 (8)

Kim staggered Welsh in the opening round with a short hook and he pressed a furious pace, Freddie gathered his legs and began to pick apart kin with 4 and 5 punch combinations while deftly moving away from the non-stop punches coming his way and Freddie took a well earned UD. 98-92, 97-93 & 96-94

Lightweight Second Round

Ray Lampkin 15-3-2 (3) vs Willie Joyce 30-8-3 (9)

Willie once again fought well above his seeding, peppering Lampkin with stiff jabs and right hands to the head and body. Ray opened a bad cut over Joyce's left eye with an uppercut in round six, but Joyce remained focused and won the wide UD. 92-98 x2 & 93-97

Paul Spadafora 25-12-3 (4) vs Pedro Montanez 13-8 (6)

Pedro started off quickly, tagging Paul with hooks to the body and crosses to the head over the first four rounds. Spadafora came back in the middle rounds with 3 and 4 punch combos to the body and head, they fought evenly down the stretch but Montanez appeared to seal the deal with a strong final round where he hurt Paul twice with brutal hooks. Controversy reigned, and Spadafora took a MD. 96-94 x2 & 95-95

Jack Blackburn 33-5-2 (11) vs George Zengaras 13-7-1 (4)

Blackburn dropped George with a beautiful counter hook in the third and he dominated the entire fight en route to a comprehensive UD. 100-89, 99-90 & 98-91

Sammy Mandell 18-2 (3) vs Al Davis 25-15-1 (17)

After Mandell won the opening round and much of the second, 'Bummy' staggered Sammy late in the second with a right hand and then he floored Mandell in the third and fourth rounds with murderous uppercuts. Sammy showed his class by quickly regaining control and outboxing Al from that point on, including flooring Davis with a right hand in the final round to seal the UD. 95-92 x3

Acelino Freitas 36-7 (19) vs Kid McPartland 13-7-2 (4)

This was an entertaining, if not overly competitive, fight as they exchanged liberally throughout the contest. PoPo just had too much power for Mcpartland to match and Freitas was able to secure a wide UD. 99-91, 99-92 & 98-92

Battling Nelson 18-2 (10) vs Gary Balletto 9-12 (2)

Nelson mauled Gary on the inside the whole way and walked away with a UD victory. 100-90 x2 & 99-91

Livingstone Bramble 28-8-4 (10) vs Maxie Shapiro 13-7-2 (3)

Bramble looked like he was asleep in the ring and Shapiro took advantage, peppering him with scoring combinations and using his legs to spring the upset SD. 94-98, 97-95 & 95-97

Lockport Jimmy Duffy 14-4-2 (7) vs Herb McCoy 14-5-3 (7)

These two contemporaries battled it out in a rough and bloody contest that saw Duffy emerge with a UD based on his damaging hooks that had McCoy in trouble on at least three occasions. 97-92 & 96-93 x2

Lightweight Second Round

Roger Bernard 33-7-3 (8) vs Giovanni Parisi 30-27-4 (11)

Roger was just a tad too classy for the Italian and he thoroughly out-boxed on the way to a UD. 99-91, 99-92 & 97-95

Rufe Turner 17-3 (11) vs Juan Lazcano 29-11-1 (17)

This was a phone booth war that saw Rufe control the early action with fearsome uppercuts before Lazcano turned the tide in the fourth and fifth rounds when he hurt Turner several times with right hands. Behind on the cards, Turner closed strong in the final two rounds with a fierce body attack and that enabled him to secure a draw. 96-94, 94-96 & 95-95

Vinny Pazienza 49-29-2 (19) vs Wesley Ramey 15-6 (4)

Pazienza turned things around in round five when he dropped Ramey with a hook to the body, Wes was up at eight but his legs didn't recover and Vinny went on to win an impressive UD. 98-91, 97-92 & 96-93

Patsy Sweeney 17-1-2 (7) vs Joe Lopes 12-8-1 (2)

Both men had to battle severe swelling and bad cuts over their eyes in this dust up, Sweeney was able to hurt Lopez with hooks in the fifth and eighth rounds and those dominant stanzas in a very tight fight could have provided the difference in Patsy's MD. 96-94 x2 & 95-95

Sugar Ramos 34-9 (19) vs Fred Galiana 17-4 (5)

Galiana built a lead with sharp one-twos while the Spanish crowd roared, Sugar closed strong including a huge ninth round where he cornered Fred for the final thirty seconds and unloaded with powerful hooks to the head and body. Galiana may have gotten some hometown help to advance via SD. 93-97, 97-93 & 94-96

Art Aragon 28-11-1 (13) vs Joe Benjamin 14-6-1 (7)

Aragon was on fire early, scoring with vicious hooks to the head and body, he floored Benjamin with a 3 punch combo in round five, but Joe refused to be finished and even rallied late before Art's arm was raised with a UD. 98-90, 97-91 & 97-92

Edwin Rosario 29-9-2 (15) vs Greg Haugen 31-29-1 (7)

Rosario put forth a devastating performance, he floored Haugen in the opening round and twice more later before the referee rescued Greg from his own toughness in round eight when Chapo was burying him in the corner with rights and lefts.

Llew Edwards 16-4 (4) vs Johnny Bizzarro 27-13-3 (3)

Bizzarro fought off some rough early moments to use his movement and awkward combinations to defeat Edwards via UD. 93-97 & 94-96 x2

Lightweight Second Round

Nate Campbell 28-8-4 (17) vs Jim Holloway 10-8-3 (4)

They battled hard on the inside, but Campbell's variety and defense always had him one step ahead of the game and busted up Holloway's left eye on the way to a strong UD. 100-92, 98-94 & 97-95

Orzubek Nazarov 16-2-2 (9) vs Nick Laventis 19-2 (11)

After a tight opening round, Orzubek dropped Laventis early in the second with an uppercut and he pounded 'Nico' from pillar to post during a brutally one sided round(33-2). Nick stormed back in a violent third round and backed off Nazarov with crushing hooks to the body and uppercuts to the head. They continued to brawl in the fourth, but Orzubek gained an edge in the closing moments with two murderous crosses that drove Nick across the ring.

Nico switched up a bit and boxed well over the next two rounds, busting open Nazarov's right eye with a short hook. In round seven Orzubek dropped Laventis twice more with hooks and the ref was looking closely at the bell. Laventis courage was immense, but he was canned twice more in round eight, the second time for the count courtesy of a murderous cross.

Andy Ganigan 16-4 (12) vs Jesse James Leija 39-20-3 (17)

Only Leija's chin kept him upright and around after the first two rounds where Ganigan repeatedly rocked him with devastating left hands flush on the chin during the lopsided frames. Jesse dropped Andy early in the third with a beautiful counter hook for an eight count and he ripped off body shots to take the starch out of Ganigan during the rest of the round. The surge was short lived and Ganigan floored Leija three times over the second half to ensure that he won an impressive UD. 97-89 x3

Robert Guerrero 56-11-1 (30) vs Chango Carmona 10-10-1 (7)

After being floored by massive hooks in the first and third rounds, Guerrero dug in and pounded Carmona with combinations that had both of his eyes ballooned when Robert dropped him in round nine with an uppercut and caused the stoppage with a follow up barrage.

Ray Miller 16-3-1 (6) vs George McFadden 15-4-2 (6)

The string of brawls ended as Miller preferred to use his Boxing skills to carve out a UD over McFadden in a less than thrilling fight. 98-92 & 96-94 x2

Rodolfo Gonzalez 13-5-2 (9) vs Anthony Peterson 18-3 (10)

Gonzalez floored Peterson in the second with a hook and seriously hurt him at least three other times with the same shot, past that Anthony boxed brilliantly and dominated several rounds with flashy combinations. The judges were in agreement and Rodolfo's power garnered him the razor close UD. 95-94 x3

Willie Ritchie 16-3-1 (3) vs Johnny Summers 16-5 (10)

Summers one-twos left Ritchie's face in disarray but Willie stayed the course, doubling and tripling his jab and following with occasional right hands to manage to advance via MD. 96-94, 96-95 & 95-95

Phillip Holiday 16-4 (6) vs Bruce Flowers 15-4-2 (1)

Holiday built an early lead with rough tactics that saw him warned twice and then in the sixth a low blow tagged Flowers and the ref DQ'd the South African.

Lightweight Second Round

Jorge Linares 45-16-2 (31) vs Dave Charnley 15-5-1 (10)

Linares superior hand speed controlled the center of the ring, the problem for him is that Charnley wasn't content to fight there and he often bulled Jorge to the ropes and pounded the body resulting in a workmanlike UD for Dave. 93-98, 94-97, 95-98

Jack Berg 33-7 (20) vs Louis Kaplan 30-12-1 (5)

Berg's right hand ballooned up kaplan's left eye in the early going, but Louis stayed his course and kept working his jab as well as some nice hooks to the body. Jack staggered Kaplan with a right in the ninth but Louis came back to take the tenth with his jab and movement. Most rounds were tight, but the final round earned Kaplan the tight MD, 94-96 x2 & 95-95

Florentino Fernandez 58-20-2 (44) vs Tommy Campbell 14-7 (4)

Fernandez rocked Campbell with a right hand in the first thirty seconds of the fight and he went to work with both hands until an absolutely lethal left hook rendered Campbell unconscious in an absolutely chilling first round KO.

Kenny Lane 16-2-2 (2) vs Justin Juuko 26-12-3 (9)

Lane stifled much of Justin's offense and used his southpaw jab and defense to pile up points. One of the judges inexplicably saw the bout for Juuko, but the other two got it right. 98-93 x2 & 95-96

Spoon 33-6-1 (27) vs Dingaan Thobela 55-21-5 (19)

Thobela's awkward style caused problems early and his jab opened a gash over Spoon's left eye in round four, Spoon kept pressing and his powerful blows began to break down Dingaan; culminating in a knockdown in the final round to seal Spoon's UD. 97-92 x3

Frank Erne 32-8-2 (22) vs Colin Dunne 13-7-1 (6)

Erne was pleased with his draw and he nearly got Dunne out of there in the second after flooring him with a right hand. Colin sent Erne crashing to the canvas in round five with a wicked hook to the body and Frank barely beat the count and survived the round. Erne fought more carefully over the second half and won a wide UD. 98-91 x3

Ted Lewis 77-22-6 (22) vs Glen Flanagan 16-3-2 (2)

Not a lot of action as Lewis smothered Flanagan and the ref was lenient on clinching and fouling, in the end Ted scored with enough during the rough housing to advance with an ugly UD. 98-93, 97-94 & 96-95

Hector Camacho 77-23-4 (28) vs Len Matthews 14-7 (10)

'Macho' pounded Matthews from the opening bell with his superior speed, landing four and five punch combos and moving away before Len could get one in, the referee finally stepped in with a bloody Matthews taking a beating along the ropes in round nine. In round three Hector will most likely find a stiffer challenge in Jose Luis Castillo.

Lightweight Second Round

Sid Terris 17-2-1 (3) vs Marco Antonio Barrera 76-15-2 (56)

Terris swept the first three rounds with combination punching and movement. Barrera started to get off with hooks to the body and head in the fourth and fifth rounds and they fought closely down the stretch with the exception of the final round, when Sid used his legs and jab to take the stanza and the UD. 96-95 x2 & 98-93

Arthur Persley 15-5 vs Jack McAuliffe 15-6 (10)

Persley boxed well but his lack of power hurt him, as well as McAuliffe's powerful right hands. One of which floored Arthur in the eighth and Jack won a UD. 93-99, 93-96 & 95-96

William Parker 15-5 (7) vs Anthony Jones 35-6 (24)

Jones was faster and stronger, Parker's toughness enabled him to last the distance but Anthony won a wide UD. 92-99 x2 & 93-98

Miguel Vazquez 15-4-1 (5) vs Mike Anchondo 18-22-1 (12)

Vazquez dropped his game opponent three times and while Mike never stopped coming forward the UD for Miguel was a foregone conclusion. 97-90 x3

Stanislous Loayza 14-6 (7) vs Dave Holly 17-2-2 (7)

In a fast paced, albeit tactical, battle; Loayza opened a bad cut over Dave's left eye in round two and it reopened several times. It isn't Holly's first rodeo and he continuously scored with lead right hands, including one that floored Stanislous with twenty seconds left in the bout to seal Dave's UD win. 92-98, 93-97 & 93-96

Howard Davis, Jr. 24-13-3 (8) vs Michael Katsidis 35-5-1 (19)

Katsidis dropped Davis in round two with a right hand and he stemmed a mid round Davis rally with another knockdown in round nine and Michael went on to earn the clear UD. 91-98, 91-97 & 93-96

Aussie Jack McAuliffe 15-5 (9) vs George Araujo 34-9-1 (12)

In what turned out to be an exciting brawl that left both fighters faces in tatters, McAuliffe consistently out-worked Araujo during the toe to toe exchanges and managed to survive a brutal final round where George hurt him several times to take a clear UD. 98-93 x3

Damazo Collazo 15-4-1 (6) vs Humberto Soto 55-26-4 (28)

In a very tight contest, Soto had Damazo nearly out of there in round four after several multiple punch combinations but the Cuban rebounded and managed to scrape by with the narrowest of UD's. 96-95 x3

Lightweight Second Round

Sammy Angott 13-3-4 (3) vs Demarcus Corley 32-6-2 (10)

Angott's jab and grab style frustrated Corley and built and early lead. Over the second half Demarcus used his speed to connect with hard hooks, in particularly in the ninth and tenth rounds when he rallied furiously but Sammy was able to hang on and advance with the MD. 96-94, 96-95 & 95-95

Bruce Lee 13-4-3 (4) vs Nicolino Locche 31-6-3 (8)

Lee was the aggressor throughout the contest but he struggled mightily to penetrate Locche's prodigious defense and Nicolino countered with hooks and lead with jabs en route to a comprehensive UD over the movie star. 93-99, 93-98 & 94-97

Freddie Dawson 18-2 (4) vs Joan Guzman 44-18-3 (29)

Freddie used his educated jab and a strong chin to thwart the athletic prowess of Guzman. Joan did stagger him on a few occasions and Dawson's left eye was badly swollen but the consistency of Freddie was rewarded with a UD. 97-93 & 96-94 x2

Artur Grigorian 13-6-1 (6) vs Ali Funeka 14-6 (10)

Grigorian had a surprisingly easy go of it with the South African, keeping a steady pace, defending well and peppering Funeka with one-twos on the way to an impressive UD. 98-92 & 97-93 x2

James Busceme 18-2 (10) vs Dave Castilloux 13-6-1 (8)

After being schooled in the first two rounds, Busceme dropped the canadian with a hook in the third and turned the tide. Castilloux still boxed well behind his jab, but James dumped him with another hook in round seven and advanced with a UD. 97-92 & 95-93 x2

(IBO) Miguel Acosta 15-2-3 (9) vs Arturo Gatti 57-23-2 (37)

Gatti schoked everyone with a dominant performance, opening a nasty cut over Acosta's left eye in the opening round and dropping him with a right hand during a dominant second. The champion tried to rebound and they went toe to toe in the third and fourth rounds, but Gatti maintained his edge and he hammered Miguel in the fifth and for much of the sixth before the ref stepped in.

Seraphin Ferrer 14-4-2 (6) vs Willie Pep 42-5-1 (18)

Lets face it, the Frenchman had a tough draw even with a home town Paris crowd supporting him. It didn't matter as Willie was at his elusive best, firing off dazzling combos and dodging virtually all the incoming from Ferrer en route to a ridiculously majority decision. 91-99 x2 & 96-96, in round three Pep will square off with Benny Leonard in a dream fight.

Tyrone Crawley 17-3 (2) vs Jaguar Kakizawa 16-2-2 (4)

Kakizawa's willingness seemed to be enough to edge this stinker, alas I was not so lucky and the judges are forcing me to run it back. 95-97 & 96-96 x2

Did double take on this one. Interested though in how you rated Lee.

I snagged it from John Dewey and enhanced him. Any fictional guys I use are usually in the 8-10 range for an overall ranking. I'm getting ready to do the year end in Bizarro, when I get back around to here(snow storm and I'm in game mode waiting to drink for the fights and UFC tonight) I'll post it for you.

Lightweight Second Round

Carlo Orlandi 16-4 (5) vs Leonard Dorin 27-10-3 (14)

The deaf Italian showed he is far from handicapped, peppering Dorin with sharp one-twos that left Leonard with a badly swollen left eye and Orlandi's defense was on point as he cruised to a UD. 98-92 x2 & 97-93

Leavander Johnson 15-4-1 (5) vs Maxie Docusen 13-6-1 (2)

Docusen was just too classy for the hard charging Johnson and he played matador to the tune of a wide UD. 92-98 x3

Sean O'Grady 35-5-2 (25) vs Lew Jenkins 14-5-1 (11)

This was expected to be a war, and it was. O'Grady opened strong with hooks to the body and right hands to the head that had Lew's left eye swelling after one round. Jenkins returned the favor in round two, puffing up Sean's left eye and hurting him twice with right hands. O'Grady was floored by a hook in round three and his right eye also displayed distension at the bell.

The fourth was toe to toe, with both men hurt by huge right hands in a vicious round(18-17). O'Grady took round five with searing hooks to the body. They opened the sixth with a furious exchange and Lew rocked Sean with a murderous right hand and he teed off on O'Grady until he was rendered helpless in the ropes and the ref stepped in.

Frankie Klick 33-9 (8) vs Miguel Angel Gonzalez 28-11-1 (20)

Gonzalez surprised everyone by blowing through Klick, dominating the first two rounds before dropping him early in the third with an uppercut and finishing him off later in the round with a right hand.

Davey Day 28-8-4 (5) vs Freddie Pendleton 25-14-1 (6)

This was evenly contested throughout the bout, Freddie suffered bad cuts over both eyes but he fought valiantly only to be disappointed when Day won the SD. 97-95 x2 & 95-97

Amir Khan 51-8-1 (33) vs Lulu Costantino 16-4 (4)

Khan's rapid fire combinations and fleet feet were too much for Lulu to deal with, he managed to stun Amir in the fourth and seventh rounds but it wasn't nearly enough and Khan won a clean UD. 98-92 & 97-94 x2

Chris Calvin 13-6-1 (8) vs Fabian Tejeda 13-7 (4)

These two engaged almost exclusively on the inside, and, while it was competitive the whole way, Calvin's power was the difference as he dropped Tejeda with a combo in round two and flattened him for the count with a hook in round five.

Johnny Gonsalves 16-4 (4) vs Urbano Antillion 15-3-2 (7)

Gonsalves was just too good for Urbano, he popped jabs and right hands and walked away with a wide UD. 100-92, 100-94 & 98-93

Lightweight Second Round

Lou Ambers 18-2 (11) vs Tony Lopez 33-9 (21)

This was predictably entertaining, but Ambers superior chops showed through as he countered the aggressive Lopez brilliantly before dropping a right hand flush on Tony's chin that put him down for the count in round four.

Hilmer Kenty 17-2-1 (10) vs Paul Armstead 15-4-1 (1)

Kenty nearly finished Paul in the second round after hurting him with a short right hand. Most rounds were close, but Armstead's eyes were both ballooned when Hilmer swept the last three rounds to secure the UD. 97-94 x2 & 96-95

California Jackie Wilson 30-6-4 (15) vs Bobby Dobbs 14-4-2 (6)

Wilson was dominant in the early going, breaking down Dobbs to the body and flooring him in the fourth with a hook. While Jackie did get warned once for low blows, the immediate DQ in round six from his second seemed very premature.

Juan Diaz 15-2-3 (11) vs Benny Valgar 12-5-3 (9)

Diaz aggression and activity carried the contest, and, while Valgar had a big ninth round when he hurt Juan with two thunderous hooks, Diaz body work and high activity led him to s shockingly majority decision. 98-92 x2 & 95-95

Sergei Artemiev 14-6 (7) vs Arthur Douglas 15-3-2 (6)

Douglas out-boxed the Russian with a steady diet of jabs and advanced via UD. 92-98, 93-98 & 94-96

Julio Diaz 32-7-1 (16) vs Al Singer 15-5 (3)

These guys traded blows the whole the fight and Singer hurt Diaz a few more times on the way to a MD win, 94-97, 94-96 & 95-95

John-John Molina 30-11-1 (23) vs Jimmy Goodrich 14-4-2 (4)

Molina landed thunderous right hands throughout the tight contest while Goodrich used his jab and defense to control stretches. In the end, John-John managed to earn a UD. 98-95 & 97-95 x2

Pedro Carrasco 28-7-5 (15) vs Billy Ernst 18-2 (9)

Rematch: Carrasco KO4

Ernst completely turned things around with crisp jabs and hard right hands, Pedro floored Billy in round eight with a cross but Ernst shrugged it off and went on to win a clear UD. 92-97 x3

Sad see Costantino go out to Khan, but pleased Dobbs got through on, gift or not.

Like your biography entry for Lee too.
