Question
I started a historical league in 1906. I restructured the league, deleting a subleague and 2 teams. I now have a 14 team league, 1 subleague 2 divisions. Each team has 3 minor league teams, AAA, AA and A.
I plan on expanding this league slowly, but I figure the largest it will get will be 20 teams. I want to maintain the 2 division setup. My question to y'all is, if by chance I do make it up to modern day, is my league going to become a mess due to real life expansion. In otherwords, will the fact that I only have 20 teams and real baseball has 30 flood my league with too much talent. My main concern is superstars being stuck in the minors due to too many players. Anyone ever tried a "what if baseball didn't expand" scenario? |

I assume you're importing real players.
Eventually you will have a lot of talent, when you get to the 60's and beyond when expansion really took hold. I haven't tried this, but I would guess the modifiers (if automatically adjusted) would help alleviate that over-run of superstar stats, but then you'd probably see a lot less superstars, so to speak, because there would be a lot of players at a high talent level, there by making them more common. I would also guess that guys who hit 40 hr's normally would only hit 25 - 30 as the modifiers adjusted to overcome all the power hitters in the league. Same for pitching too. I'm only guessing at those things though. You could always stop the flow of real players at a certain point and then pick and choose only a few to bring in each year. Or pick more players who had avg/mediocre careers and fewer Babe Ruth types. |

I've done similar setups as this and it was never a huge problem. Your fringy players are getting less time but it's not to the point where every team has 9 hall of famers and Albert Pujols is sitting on the bench.
Turning off recalc might help if your into that idea.

I really hope that someday we are able to add a subleague to an already existing 1 subleague setup without it causing all kinds of problems. |

Rather than start another thread to ask this question, I am going to do it here and hope someone has the answer.
As I said earlier I am running a 1 subleague league. In the future I want to expand this league. I would love to simply add a subleague and realign with teams defecting to the new subleague. But, this causes OOTP problems and messes up this league champions history. What if I was to add a subleague and fill it entirely with expansion teams. Has anyone ever tried this? Will doing so screw up the league champion history? |
