Free Agent Draft- Question

How does this work? What advantages does a small market team have in doing this? What can I expect? I have 1300 FA's.

I created a fictional league and took over 71-91 San Diego at the start of Free Agency. For some reason they had the 27th pick overall vs the 6th based on worst record. San Diego has $2 million available for Free Agents. i added 65 million in payroll, give or take. i took the guys who were asking for the most. Gonna try this in my EBL vs MLB league before the start of Spring training.

I didn't realize there was an option for Free Agents to be put in a draft. Am I missing that setting somewhere?

Can't seem to set rounds. Default is 20. I put in 5 and it shows 20 when I enter the draft. I know from my test no one drafted after the 15th rd.

Also for some reason after setting the draft based on fewest wins to most wins not counting the World Series teams who pick 15th & 16th When I hit use order for remaining rounds it reverted back to the setup it had when I went into the draft. I see this will be the only time I use this in my league until it is fixed. Markus, yes patches create bugs.

I missed a team when I reorganized the teams the 2nd time.
Not bad several teams skipped picks although I do not have that option. It was either take someone or complete draft. i took 2 SP, a 3B and a 1B. The AI drafted many more player s that I now have to release. It drafted 3 more 1B 2 more 3B and 4 MR that I did not want. Just noticed my team was the only team that picked after the 5th round of which I did not do the picking.

Ok time for some good news:
As I said not every team picked which is what I was hoping for, mostly just the bad teams picked.
Even with the fact that the Ai decided to pick 2 picks per round for 20 rounds (since I missed a team) My #2 pick a 3B by the name of Andrea Raht will only get 550K for 2011 He was asking for 13.5 million. My #1 pick some guy named Markus Heinsohn (clone of Maddux) will only get 390K vs the 16.5 million he was asking for.
I like this feature but it has bugs and I would have liked to see some restrictions on it. I took a 53 win team and i will be surprised if i dont win 100 after the other moves I made plus the fact that Heinsohn was on a 91 win team last year (BTW Markus only pitched in 6 games due to a broken leg)

I edited some of the guys back to Free Agency. I kept a few players like Ervin Santana who I had tested a 500K contract with, Kyle Farnsworth only because I like him, same with Craig Counsell & a corner OF Clarence Anderson. So my draft picks were Markus SP, Andres 3B, Don Mater SP & Tony Malone 1B. I added 34 wins to my team with the 3 SP and 104 HR with Andres and Tony.
