Minor league modifiers
Alright, I read something on here recently that said that the modifiers for the minor leagues in modern-day (2013) leagues are fine at default (1.000 across the board). However, I've come across something incredibly alarming after one month of the season...
For the International League, only ONE team have an ERA under 5.00! And that's at 4.91. The PCL has three of eight teams under 5.00. The Eastern League (AA) has three of TWELVE teams under 5.00. The Southern League has four of ten under 5.00...and two of ten OVER 6.00. The Texas League looks okay...with only three of eight teams over 5.00 (and none over 5.77) The California League has SIX teams over 5.00 (none over 5.59) The Carolina League has seven of eight teams over 5.00...and THREE over 6.00. The Florida State League has three of 12 over 5.00, which isn't too bad, but one of those is at an even 6.00. The Midwest League has six of 16 teams over 5.00, none higher than 5.57. The South Atlantic League has 10 of 14 over 5.00...and an even-more alarming SIX over 6.00 (and one over 7.00). So my concern here is too much offense. I'd like some input from the community as to what I should do, if anything (recalculating). Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Search for a fairly recent thread where accurate minor league league totals were published. I don't have time to do it right now.

Uncheck the automatically adjust league totals modifiers for accuracy. Also uncheck the auto control of the in game engine.

I found the thread. It tells me to CHECK auto-adjust league modifiers (which I did when I tried that method). Also, auto control is checked by default and is grayed out, meaning I can't uncheck it.

I found out what I was doing wrong...I was checking the box to auto-adjust, but I was LEAVING it checked. That was probably causing the problem I encountered when I initially tried the method detailed in that thread.
I'm at May 1st, 2013. Question: What, exactly, am I doing (or preventing) by unchecking the auto-control of the in-game engine (which, for some reason, is now no longer grayed-out for the minor leagues)? |

I use the following quick way to get 'realistic' Minor League stats.
With these settings you'll get League ERA's around 4.5. League leaders usually pitch arround 185 innings. One thing I still do not understand is why 2008 is the default historical year for all Minors??? |

Minor league modifiers
What do you guys do to get other stats (balks, WP, SB, etc) to closely match those leagues? I know that if you auto calc, those modifiers are adjusted based on the Major League stats in the txt file. So do you guys just leave them or adjust them a certain amount?

Left to its own devices the game will create League Totals for each minor league as a derivative of the major league totals that it has in the database. You can make something like that happen in the Quickstart by adjusting the year to the most recent available in the list. In that instance, it is best (IMHO) to turn off the control in-game engine option, but leave the automatically adjust modifiers option on. Whether you get good stats in that situation is a matter of opinion, but I don't think turning off the adjusting of modifiers would make it better. |
