Next game update?

Just wondering what might be in the works for the next game update. Not that it needs much of anything, as I'm enjoying what's here.

It needs separate hall of fames...it's ruining a lot of the immersion in my 3 pro league world. Can't believe ootp team continues to ignore this. Disappointing on so many levels. It would be nice to get an official acknowledgementon what seems like a small tweak but changes a lot for fun. Waited 6 years and each year no acknowledgement. I'm starting to lose faith in ootp.

I don't even know what that means. Seperate Halls of Fame? Seperate from what?

I think he means one HOF for an MLB league game, one for a fictional league game and one for a historical league game. I can see where the game having only one basic HOF could ruin the immersion for any one type of game played. But I'm not 100% sure what he means by having 3 pro leagues. Before I go running any ideas to Markus, I'd need more information from him.

I think Markus might be able to add another .dat file in the youleaguename.lg folder called HallOfFame.dat.

I'll run this idea by him over in beta and see what he thinks about it.
Now I'm really confused. I thought each OOTP league had its own HOF?

Hi Cinnamon,

No, OOTP only uses one HOF - no matter what type of game you choose to play. In fact, even if style of gameplay is fictional (which is the way a lot of OOTP'ers play), you can even view the real list of retired MLB players. In the game I'm about to start playing (fictional MLB), I'm thinking of using numerous MLB HOF'ers as coaches.

Ok, now I'm confused. I have two leagues, one fictional and one historical. Both leagues have HOFers, but neither league shows the other league's players in the Hall of Fame screen.

Except that's not what his post says. He has 3 pro leagues, I guess that means 3 Major leagues and want's them to have separate HoF. Nothing to do with fict hist or current day.

Of course I could be reading that wrong.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Hi Orcin,

Sorry to confuse you. If you look inside of your league's folder [yourleaguename.lg] you will see a .dat file named world.dat and one named retired.dat. One of those .dat files must be the only thing separating your league's HOF. I do know that the game utilizes only one HOF database and that's the one located inside of the stats folder.

This. I believe he means separate Hall of Fames for different leagues in an association.

EDIT: Had my facts mixed up. Don't mind me.

From my understanding sub-leagues share a hall of fame, but associated leagues have their own individual HOFs with their own criteria for entrance.

Ah, I think you're right, I was getting mixed up.

In that case, I have no idea what he was referring to.

A good sign... Like I said, the game is solid, but any new features would be a great All-Star break bonus!

And no, I have nothing to add to the Hall of Fame debate

Ok I got tired of speculation and hearsay, so I just created a league with 2 "associated leagues" and simmed 30+ years. So I have the answer right in front of me.

Associated Leagues do indeed share a HOF the same way Sub-Leagues do.

The problem is that the HOF doesn't add the Stats together for players who payed in multiple leagues. So after simming 30+ seasons a guy with 510 HR's was NOT inducted into the Hall Of Fame Because he had hit 248 HR's in one League then Hit 262 in the other League. The HOF didn't recognize that he has hit 510 Homers in his career only that he hit 242 and 268 in each respective leagues..

So that is the way it works Kids! And frankly I think that sucks, if your going to have only One HOF you Must recognize all the stats from "associated" leagues combined!

I always manually induct players into the HOF. If I have a player who played 1 forgetable season in league X but plays 17 great seasons in league Y, I naturally want to induct him info HOF for League Y. The only problem is whatever leagues he has played in he now appears in those hall of fames as well. So now he shows up in League X and Y where only the one league he actually belongs in there.

The player also goes into the HOF for any AAA, AA, A, college, highschool, international etc, if he played 1 measly game for any of those teams.

So I was right in the first place.

I gotta stop second-guessing myself.
