Long overdue Update on iOOTP 2013

Short version:

After working on 2 different projects to make them release-ready just 3 weeks apart was the hardest work I ever did in my entire life. Add in the post production for the first iOOTP update and the ongoing work on FHM + the work on the iPhone5/Retina display support (as required by Apple since May 1st) and you can imagine how I felt around the end of May. The company trip to New York was a welcome vacation but still I fell burned out and I have to make sure not to get health problems.

That said, work on iOOTP 2013 never was and never will be come to a stand. I work on it almost every day and continue to add the mentioned changes required by Apple (otherwise I can't upload any updates anymore).

Slightly longer version:

When I started on iOOTP the goal was to earn enough money with it to make a living out of it. Sales of all three versions are good but a few factors make it hard to reach the goal: a lot of people get shares from iOOTP, Apple with 30%, PISD, Graphics, PR. OOTP gets a good share and the $-exchange-rate takes another 30% away. Put taxes on top and there is just not enough money for me to buy three meals a day. For 2 years that was ok, I expected it to be hard but then it was clear something had to change. So FHM was my way to make sure that a) I can earn more money and b) iOOTP can continue. It was never planed that the Pre-Order Beta version of FHM would be released at the same time as iOOTP 2013 but reasons out of my control made it necessary and on top of it that I had to do much more work as expected.

As I mentioned above, it was the first and last time that two projects will be released at the same time, in the future iOOTP will be (as always) in April and FHM in September.

But one thing is clear: without iOOTP -> no FHM; without FHM -> no future iOOTP's.

I will try to be more communicative in the future, something I still have to learn. So bear with me as long as it takes ...

What is FHM.

And, what would be the harm in raising prices on iOOTP. personally, I think that $4.95 is ridiculously low.

FHM is Franchise Hockey Manager is a hockey sim in development. It is available for pre-order now at $10 discount which allows you to play the beta version until the completed game is released in September. It is for PC and Mac. You can read about it here

I am sure that most iOOTP players will be patient. It's not as if the game is broken. And while you know your business and I do not, my intuition tells me that you can raise the price without losing too many customers.

Oh, and in your spare time, please do a basketball manager! What's hockey, anyway?

If only there was a version for android devices. Sales would increase significantly. I have FHM, but I don't have an apple device or else I would buy the OOTP app.

What kind of timeframe are we talking about here...I know you said you have other things going, and I understand that...but on the other hand, you said you'd communicate better, and we haven't heard a peep for two weeks now.

talk to SI about Football Manager and ask if it was worth it to finally start supporting Android. They will say yes. You want more money Sebastian? Put in the effort to get it on the most widely used platform. Just sayin

BTW I ragged on the guys at SI until they finally got a droid version out there too.

Totally agree. I don't understand how this is not on the Android at this point. Would boost sales tremendously and wouldn't be terribly hard to do.

Um, Android is completely different from iOS. It's basically another game, just with some of the design specs and core gameplay carrier over. But even those would have to be redone for it to be native.
