Play-By-Play
I'm new to OOTP and love the game, but the pop-up PbP dude with the text is ruining my experience. I know there is a way to make him go away, and I also want the text readout to not pop up over anything, but to be in a separate, non-interfering window. Any help appreciated.

#1 should be just before the game starts, you have options for who controls things, how fast the text will scroll, and a few others. One of them should be for disabling the announcer pic.
#2 not sure what you're asking. PbP is in it's own window by default. You can modify the layout of the screen to move widgets around, open/close them, etc. Or am I not following you on point 2? |

Me too. Never seen a pop up PbP. It's in a dedicated non interfering window.

Still not seeing it...
When I hit "pitch" or swing" in the control, a large window appears overtop of it and gives the scrolling PbP text. I then have to click to remove it and get back to the control window. I cannot see where I have a control to make the PbP announcer disappear, or the PBP window to be separate.

I think he is complaining that the text appears at all. Where he says a 'window appears' is where the text appears instead of the controls (which do nothing at that point) and then he has to press a key to get back to the controls.
I'm actually not sure what he wants, though, because how will you even see what happened if that text doesn't appear? |

I do want the text, just not as a pop-up. That is how to see the result of each at-bat. I will look at the screen shot given, but I haven't seen such a screen. I may ask how to get to it or when it pops up. Thanks so far...

OK -- how do I get to the screen shown by BlueNoser. Obviously what I need, but damn if I can find it, and it does not pop up on its own. Thanks. (remember I am a beginner ... this software is amazing but a bit overwhelming...)

There is no pop-up.
If you have found a way for the PbP to appear as a pop-up, I would be interested in knowing how because I have never seen that. |

He shows it in his screencap.
When you start a game it shows you the potential starting line-ups of each team. Click on the options tab (if you are somehow not already on it) and there you are. If the game has already started, you can still click on the options tab and change it on the fly. Last edited by rpriske; 05-10-2013 at 02:59 PM. |

MikeD, in the options shows above, what is your setting for PbP Box? The largest setting I believe forces the PbP screen to pop up. This might be what you're referring to.

Thanks all for your help thus far. I found the screen, and everything works the way I want except there is still not a separate window for the pBP. A small white window appears overtop the control window for each swing or pitch. It is now smaller and less obtrusive, but it is still not in its own window. I have room underneath the controls window where it could go, but no way to make it happen that I can see.
I do not know how to do a screen shot of my display and paste in here. If someone could tell how to do that, I will post a few screenshots to demonstrate what I am talking about, and also, "there is no popup", that I am not crazy. Thanks! |

Besides that large pop up box (that I didn't even know about), I don't think there is a way to create what you are looking for. Why would you like the controls to be visible during the actual play? That may help us understand what you are trying to do.

i just would like the window not to pop up over the control, and then I have to "hit a key or click mouse" to get back to control screen. The PbP window would be below the control window. After the play, when I press "swing" in the control window, it would blank the previous PbP text and display the new. That is how I would expect it to work, and I'd prefer. It's not the biggest deal in the world(1), but I find it a little annoying and unnecessary. I expected with all the controls available in the game that I was simply overlooking the method of accomplishing it.
Thanks. |

Bluenosers had said: "#2 not sure what you're asking. PbP is in it's own window by default. You can modify the layout of the screen to move widgets around, open/close them, etc." If PbP is its own window by default, that is not happening in my setup.
Sorry to harp on what may seem trivial to some, but to me it would enhance my playing of the game. |

This is what Bluenoser and I are referring to. There is no pop up PbP window. If it is hidden behind other widgets it will give the appearance of being a pop up.
Use the configure game screen to help you move widgets around. You can also click and hold on the header of each widget to move it to its approximate position. Use the round coordinates button to line things up.

For Bluenoser
Bluenoser -- I did not mean to criticize you in any any way! I most appreciate your help. I was talking about your post to try to explain my issue.
Sorry for the misunderstanding! |

Thanks I have been experimenting with moving widgets around. I will try what you say. And that will be it on this topic -- thanks all for your time and help.
