Any way to force a trade?

I am playing a historical game, and want to move star players to create teams I want, like get Willie Mays and Hank Aaron on same team, but since this is "unfair" the other team won't make a trade (I know, it's ludicrous, but I want to see how some of these type of combos work for fun!!).

In OOTP you can act as commissioner and "force" trades like this - is there any similar way to create the team, even if "unfair", that you want in IOOTP by forcing teams to accept trades?

Yes there is! You go onto the manager options screen, then you open the actions button, click something about manage different team or something like that and click the team that the player that you want to trade for is on then just do the trade from the wron team. Then just do it all over again and click on your team and you should have the player that you wanted

Doesn't everyone know this?

Other things you can do as well. If you want to trade for a prospect who was just drafted (you usually can't for a year), you can switch to the other team, release him, switch back, and pick him up. I remember being the Astros and wanting to trade for P. Fielder, but he cost too much, so I traded players of equal value of Fielder to Detroit, switched to Detroit, released him, switched back, and picked him up for 8 mil. Haven't done this since. Too cheap... ;-)

Or it could be their way of doing the force trade. Who knows.

Didn't know about the release of player aspect ... even though it's pretty obvious when you think about it

Thanks all - works like a charm- while it can certainly be abused, knowing how to do that allows me to make a team I really enjoying playing with..

Manage other team workaround

I see nothing wrong with these mechanisms to move players from team to team, since we are not comparing performances or playing for prizes.

If a game player wants to put his favorite player on another team and manage that team, why not? Undoing a blunder trade your favorite team did, why not?

To reconstruct my fantasy baseball champions from 1987, I went through this laborious process of becoming manager of every team that had one of my players.

Before you do this, let me admit that my reconstructed champions were a nightmare in iOOTP -- worse defense than a Congolese reserve militia garrison, wretched catching, reserves useless for anything but PH or PR.

I've pondered creating, in my next large fantasy league a couple of teams that emphasize one skill, e.g. power or small-ball. I would be more motivated if I could assign team strategies that the AI would not change (e.g. frequent steal attempts).

Until/unless iOOTP allows easy assignment of players -- a feature I want -- that is probably too laborious. But it is hardly a bug.
