I stand corrected on the spring training sites thing. I see some teams that train in Arizona share the same stadium.

For some old ballcap the new model got white lines on them. By exemple in 1969, the season I play, the Yankees, the Mets and the Angels had this problem.

Danke Marcus! I'll probably buy this again this year. As I have for the past, I dunno 5 years or so. 1. because you do a much better job then SI games and Football Manager! (no hating on SI just their game feels clunky and bugged now too much now, Since FM 08 it's been horrible) and 2. Because I always wanted a new hockey sim and the OOTP Gods answered that prayer

So the more money I give you the more you have to spend making OOTP and FHM even better

Can't say there is anything here besides the trading report that excites me. I'm holding out hope something cool is added or improved before releases. RTS was my favorite addition last year and that was added after the fact IIRC.

Would have liked to see more options/improvements/additions to the facegen piece of the game or more logo options and uniform options.

Yeah, I know, I'm a broken record to some of you about all of the nice shiny objects I like, but that's just me.

I like where the game is heading though, I must say.

Alright, I'll forward that to Aurelio and ask him for a fix for the shoulder problem. Hopefully he can do that easily without causing any changes to the texture files. He's already trying to add shadows.
But the neckline/t-shirt problem can not be fixed without new texture files, and that's a no-no at the moment.
Im not worried bout changing the neckline I think time is best suited else where anyways my opinion

A while back Charlie Hough posted something to the effect that undertaking a major re-coding of significant portions of the game is a job worth doing for its own sake, or something like that -- I certainly agree, so on that basis alone I look forward to seeing what comes of the work on OOTP 14.

As for independent leagues, someone asked above whether we would actually be able to interact with these so-called "independent leagues", or whether they were just places from which we might see a new player appear from time to time. Please, please let us have these be the first step toward the creation of realistic bush leagues. If Markus could just say yes, we're headed toward that promised land and this is just a first step, I can die a happy man . . . after pre-ordering, of course!

Oh, by the way -- with all the talk about adding new ethnicities, I wanted to ask whether it might be possible to get separate first- and last-name databases again, so that you can recreate the situation where players have ethnically marked last names but vanilla first names, like "Carl Yastrzemski".

No head to head online play

I was hoping that this was the year that head to head online play would be introduced. What happened ? Not in the works ?

I don't quite recall saying exactly that, but you might mean that I mentioned the potential value in major re-coding efforts because they can potentially be the equivalent of entirely new features. So, for example, re-coding an area of the game from the ground up can potentially fix many issues, add a number of smaller features that add up to a whole new experience, and generally create quite a big splash.

But it's a tough balance for developers. It's hard to market a game when the focus is mostly on recoding and improving existing aspects of the game. That certainly helps ensure repeat sales from existing customers, but one of the challenges in getting users of older versions to upgrade and in securing new customers is trying to deliver at least a couple of "back of the box" features that are entirely new and enticing. These aren't done for the sake of newness but obviously to improve and enhance the game. But this year it appears that most of the focus is on the existing features, so it will be interesting to see how the sales play out.

This is why it's incumbent upon everyone here who cares about the product to get the word out and do our small part to drive growth. I created a Facebook post that seems like it might have gotten a few people on board, but I can't be sure that they've bought or pre-ordered the game yet.

Exactly. The bit I bolded could probably be called "The Game Developer's Paradox" if someone wanted to name it.

Thanks for posting those images. Those ugly white lines came as a nasty surprise to me last year as well. Virtually all of the ballcap & jersey mods I use are from 2007-09. Oh well...
