Why did you start playing ootp?

Is this your first baseball game? What game did you come from before this? For me I've always loved baseball games. Mostly played mlb the show or it's equivlant. (2k, mvp etc) I've played them since they were out on the super nintendo. My favorite moment was when they added franchise so you could play through multiple seasons. Although i had a problem they were to easy. To many trades that they allowed that shouldn't be possible. Pedroia for Pujols is the most memorable. And player development was a joke. Just had to control the action get them good stats and bam developed an allstar. Anyways i heard about Fm and wondered if there was a baseball equivlant. Found ootp and fell in love. Especially since building a team has always been my favourite part of any sports game i play.

Yo, Homeboy!

It was a great way to pass the time in the joint and much better than the alternative.

I was kidnapped by crop-circle-making aliens and forced to play OOTP until it became a habit.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

You must have been in a nice place. I didn't have OOTP and not into the 2nd thing.
I have played many PC baeball games going back to FPS Baseball and Tony La Russa 3. OOTP is my 2nd text sim game but I was never a fan of Mogul. I played HH2003 from 2002 - 2010 and when the mod community died I started searching for a new game to play. I stumbled upon 10 downloaded the demo and played it for 13 hrs straight and then downloaded 11. I have been able to create many league that I could only hope for with graphically based games. Hoping I can get both in OOTP 14.

You must have been kidnapped by some nice aliens. They were definitely into the other thing whether I liked it or not!!!

I started with Micro League Baseball on the C64. I remember entering stats for every team off of the back of my baseball card collection. I had most of the set but there were a few guys (thank God for the team card--I actually used it to check off each guy that I added) I had to fake stats for but at least they had a real name.

After each game I would update the stats for my team only on a separate file so I could see how they were doing this year.

I ended up playing Mogul awhile back but swtiched to OOTP 2007 and haven't looked back.

EDIT: btw u seen that new Songhees jersey that txranger made and the logo by knuckler. Cool stuff.

I found OOTP through google. I really expected to find nothing that catered to my interest. I played SBS for a really short time and was hoping to find something more in depth and was amazed when I saw OOTP 8.

Before this my interest was focused on buying custom cadaco baseball card discs and creating custom leagues with players throughout the history of baseball. It was beyond time consuming however.

At the time of finding OOTP I only wanted to use players who had already existed but have since shifted almost entirely to fictional play.

This game has given me countless hours of entertainment and It hasn't been matched since I started playing.

I also enjoy MLB the show but only for playing with friends the franchise mode absolutely sucks.

Earl II was eight years old, didn't have a career mode, was DOS-based, and was seriously behind the times. I went looking around the intertubes for a replacement so I could keep running my then 12-year-old Continential League. I concluded OOTP2 was the best option.

I started because I was looking for an arcade/console style baseball game that could be played on computer (similar to Hardball, I think that's what it was called, old WIN95 game). And I found out about OOTP and was intrigued. Tried out the free trial, went through withdrawals when the trial expired.

I think I stumbled upon OOTP when I was trying to find info on Strat-O-Matic's computer version. I first played Strat's board game in middle school (still have the cards) and then moved to the computer version in high school. Then when console's took a big leap forward, I played MVP and eventually The Show. But I came upon OOTP about five years ago and bought one version (6.5, I think). Fiddled around with some demos since then until purchasing 13 this year and becoming completely addicted.

I first played board games like Baseball Strategy, Gil Hodges Baseball, Strat-O Matic, World's Greatest Baseball, Statis-Pro before getting my TRS-80 about 30 years ago. Had fun with the text games on that old machine for years. Eventually found OOTP 3 or 4 and have been having a blast with OOTP ever since.

Markus found me in my cardboard residence in downtown and put a gun to my head and told me either I buy the game or that was it for me. The rest is history.

My question for myself isn't why did I start playing, but how had I avoided it for so long?

I also go all the way back to tabletop games. Good ole Negamco really awakened my interests in such replay ventures and I actually played out an entire NL season, game by game, using stats from 1969, then 1970 and 1971 because that's how long it took me. Then came a play-by-mail league, the Statis-Pro cards and charts with increased statistical accuracy, and toying with simplifying BLM (Big League Mgr).

After a lull, a search on Google revealed What If Sports. Fascinating, but too expensive to keep buying into each league every 3 months or so.

Further searching brought me to Diamond Mind, but that was too involved and cumbersome feeling to me, with few team options unless you rated your own teams - which I did.

OOTP has been as close to perfect as could be imagined for a computer game with all the options and I've played numerous historical seasons with favorite or intriguing teams of the past.

Have been around since the very beginning - OOTP1. In my opinion, OOTP has always been the very best best baseball sim available, each and every version.

Thank you Markus for creating such a wonderful game and for all of the hard work you've put into this game over the years.

I was in High School when I first heard about Baseball Mogul in a PC Gamer magazine...this was probably the late 1990's. I couldn't believe that they made a computer game where I could be a GM of a sports team as I had always dreamed of being a real life GM.

Played Mogul for several years and then I believe it was late high school or sometime in college when I stumbled across OOTP 3...ever since then I've bought every version and haven't played Baseball Mogul since.
