What are the all-time records in hits, AVG, WAR, wins, and strikeouts? Are there any very dominant players who haven't hit many home runs?

Thats true but it was still unfair that the Nats didn't give him coaching even though they forced him to switch.

Mule Suttles leads in WAR with 153.67. Christy Mathewson and Dupee Shaw are tied atop the wins list with 416. George Wetzel has 413, Hugh Daily has 406, and Frank Tanana has 405. Randy Johnson leads in strikeouts with 5128, with Frank Tanana second at 5090. Mathewson also has the highest WAR for pitchers with 228.09, with Hugh Daily second at 200.50. While he hit 300 home runs, Joe Morgan also had 3511 hits. Rogers Hornsby also had a good career, .309 average, 3441 hits, 175 home runs. Rickey Henderson is second in stolen bases with 1157. The leader was a surprise to me - Gregg Jefferies with 1582, including 11 straight years with 100 plus. Danny Murphy (1898) holds the all-time hit streak with 54 games. |

2011 - The transition year
2011 marks the transition year, as the draft pool has now dried up of real players. Right now there are 1846 batters who are active in the league, many of which don't really stand the chance of doing much. But I'll follow through until everyone that is active stops playing. With this break it is time to make some changes to the format of the report.
Alex Rodriguez retired with 282 home runs, making him the 37th failure. Both Adam Dunn and David Ortiz passed the 500 home run mark for their careers. Jim Edmonds retired with 609 career home runs. Edmonds hit 393 home runs in real life. Eduardo Perez retired with 441 career home runs after hitting 79 in real life. Lance Berkman became a member of the 400 home runs club. In real life Berkman has hit 360 home runs. Eduardo Perez retired from baseball with 441 career home runs. In real life Perez hit 79. 2011 Home Run Leaders 1. Jay Bruce-45 2. Dae-Un Paek-40 3. 2012 - Prince Fielder leads the league
Prince Fielder led the league with 46 home runs this year. Jay Payton reaches 600 home runs for his career and moves up to 6th place on the all-time home run list. Michihiro Ogasawara passed 500 career home runs, and three players made their debut in the 400 home run club. Ben Zobrist finished the year with 418 home runs. At 31 years old Zobrist hasn't reached 100 career home runs yet so the chances of reaching 400 in real life are slim. Another 31 year old Garrett Jones also passed 400 career home runs, finishing the season with 409 home runs. He has also failed to reach 100 home runs in real life so chances of him reaching 400 in real life is slim. Finally, Eric Munson passed 400 career home runs. Munson hit 49 home runs in real life. Gary Sheffield became the latest failure, finishing with 160 career home runs, far short of the 509 he hit in real life. 2012 Home Run Leaders 1. Prince Fielder-46 2. Pedro Alvarez-41 3. 2013 - Ben Zobrist leads the league
The influx of fictional players has begun, with one player making their debut among the season leaders, and fictional players dominating the rookie leaders. I'll drop the rookie leaders going forward.
Ben Zobrist led the league with 42 home runs, two more than Eric Hosmer who finished with 40. The Big Hurt, Frank Thomas retired with 514 career home runs, just 7 shy of his 521 home runs in real life. Thomas has been one of the top successes so far. Adam Melhuse retired with 543 home runs. In real life he finished with 24 homers. Travis Hafner made his debut in the 400 club, finishing the season with 403 homers. Hafner has 200 home runs in real life. After doing some clean-up of there are 1264 real players who remain. Most really have no shot, but I'll slowly stop following them in groups once that becomes clear. 2013 Home Run Leaders 1. Ben Zobrist-42 2. Eric Hosmer-40 3. Ike Davis-38 4. Carlos Gonzalez-37 5. Miguel Cabrera-36 6. Dayan Viciendo-35 7. 2014 - And then there was one
As we begin the wrap-up, just one real life member of the 400 club's fate remains, as Andruw Jones awaits his fate.
Jay Payton moved up to 5th on all-time list, while Todd Helton (473 home runs, 354 in real life), Greg LaRocca (456 home runs, 0 in real life), Erubiel Durazo (429 home runs, 94 in real life), and Lance Berman (423 home runs) retired. Also calling it quits were three members of the actual 400 club, Manny Ramirez (384-555), Paul Konerko (340-412), and Vladimir Guerrero (131-449) adding three more to the failure list. Albert Pujols passed the 500 career home run mark. 2014 Home Run Leaders 1. Pedro Alvarez-44 2. Evan Longoria-43 3. Dayan Viciendo-40 4. Pablo Sandoval-38 5. Trent Oeltjen-36 6. Miguel Cabrera-34 7. Thanks, I think I've got it fixed everywhere now. I took a copy of the top 300 in home runs at one point, and he had 365 at the time. I keep on getting his total wrong, and I keep calling him Rafael, but I think I've caught all of those.

2015- Three members join the 400 club
Justin Morneau finished the year with 428 career home runs to become one of three new members of the 400 home run club. Morneau is 31 years old and passed 200 career home runs this season. 33 year old Adrian Beltre entered the 2012 season with 310 home runs in real life, so the jury is still out on whether he'll reach 400 (I think he'll get there), but he reached the 400 club in the replay, finishing this season with 417 career home runs. Trent Oeltjen was the third addition to the 400 club this year, finishing the year with 401 home runs. In real life Oeltjen hit just 5 home runs. Jay Payton moves into 3rd place on the all-time list, and Eric Munson retired with 404 career home runs. Munson hit 49 homers in real life. Also, Adam Dunn debuted in the top ten. 2017- Pujols hits 600th
Albert Pujols hit career home run number 600 this season, moving up to seventh place on the All-time home run list. Three players joined the 400 home run club this season: Matt Holliday finished the season with 408 home runs, and entered 2012 with 202 career home runs at the age of 32. Walter Young also joined the 400 club, finishing the season with 405 home runs. Young hit just 1 home run in real life. Evan Longoria was the third player to pass 400 home runs, finishing with 401 this season. Longoria is just 26 years old in real life, and entered the 2012 season with 113 home runs. There were four notable retirements this year, with Jay Payton retiring in 3rd place on the all-time home run list with 730 career home runs. In real life Payton hit 119 home runs. Alfonso Soriano retired with 565 home runs, while Justin Morneau retired with 428 home runs, and Travis Hafner retired with 403 home runs. 2017 Home Run Leaders 1. Albert Pujols-54 2. 2018- Pujols moves into 6th place
Albert Pujols continues to move up the career home run list, finishing the season in 6th place. He was the all-time leader my first go round, and I don't think he'll get there again, but perhaps he can make things interesting. Andruw Jones was the last active player of the 400 club who's fate hasn't been decided, and he's retired with 272 career home runs. Also retiring is Adam Dunn, one of the 400 club successes, finishing with 597 home runs. Garrett Jones (463), Miguel Cabrera (431), and Adrian Beltre (424) all retired, and all are current active players so their totals are unknown. Pedro Alvarez was one of two players to join the 400 club this season. He finished with 413 career home runs, and as an active player it remains to be seen how many he'll hit in real life. Ditto for Troy Tulowitzki, who finished the season with 403 home runs and is the second member of the 400 club this year. 2018 Home Run Leaders 1. Eric Hosmer-47 2. Brett Lawrie-39 3.
