eMLB 2.0 seeking new GMs for 2000 season for 11 yr old real life franchise

Electronic Major League Baseball, known as eMLB and now entering its 12th full year of operation, is looking for new GMs to fill openings in its eMLB 2.0 reboot. This league is entering its third full season, and is just getting ready to enter the 2000 First Year Player (Amateur) Draft. Drafts in eMLB are lovingly put together by a collection of real life players who were drafted in that particular season AND have any amount of experience in the Bigs, plus players from our eMLB 1.0 franchise that were drafted in that same season more than 10 years ago, and are slightly "watered down" so that they still have a shot at a career, but will be more down to earth than our formerly high powered offensive original league.

These are the current teams in need of a GM:

Tampa Bay Devil Rays (61-101 in '99, 137-187 Career - 1st Pick in Draft): The team became abruptly available as we learned that the former GM couldn't handle a league that values integrity combined with a time tested system for trade evaluation. The Trade Committee simply felt that a proposed deal involving Bret Boone and one other player for just a 5th Round pick was not fair value, and would keep the Rays picking high in drafts if we allowed it. Rather than agree to disagree, he simply vanished. This is why eMLB is not just for anyone...

The Rays will have the all important 1st Round Pick, and boy could they go in many directions. Get a starter? Get a sure fire All-Star type? This will be really promising for whoever they draft.

Outside of the pick, the Rays aren't that bad. The aforementioned Bret Boone hit .254, 20 HR and 81 RBI. We really think this drop off from '98 is more the team built around him...that lost 15 more games than the previous season.

24 yr old P Livan Hernandez - 12-9, 4.88 ERA
25 yr old P Tony Saunders - 7-17, 5.61 ERA (Went 6-7, 3.99 ERA in '98)
28 yr old 1B Ryan Klesko - .281, 18 HR, 61 RBI - .852 OPS
25 yr old CF Randy Winn (2 seasons) - .286 in 472 AB - .740 OPS

Rays Prospects:

22 yr old RF Alex Hernandez
23 yr old C Brian Schneider
24 yr old P Greg Romo


San Francisco Giants (81-81 in '99 - 167-157 Overall - Pick 17th in Draft): A team built more around veterans, the Giants have been in the neighborhood, but no more than a mid-level team. What could help is that they will now start working with a younger starting rotation. What could hurt this team is that they don't have any really promising prospects that haven't been in the bigs yet. They have to hope that 21 yr old Barry Zito is ready to pitch in the Bigs, but didn't look stellar in his 11 starts he had to end '99.

35 yr old LF Barry Bonds - .302, 38 HR, 122 RBI
27 yr old CF Dave Roberts - .281, 9 HR, 71 RBI - 46 Steals in 60 Chances
39 yr old RF Tony Gwynn - .339, 4 HR, 30 RBI - .399 OBP

Giants Prospects:

25 yr old 2B/SS Rod Metzler
20 yr old P Joe Kennedy
18 yr old LF Angel Pagan
