How to import logos and other mods?

How do you import logos and all the other mods that are made for the game into OOTP12?

OOTP Baseball Manual - Team and League Logos

This is the section of the OOTP11 manual for customizing team and league logos. It still holds pretty much true for OOTP12. From here you can also find information on player photos as well. Unfortunately the manual doesn't seem to include a whole lot of information on customizing for using FaceGen PhotoFit files of real players, but often the actual mod download will include a Readme telling you what you need to do.

Obviously other mods require different instructions, but this should get you started on logos. OOTP now has the Add-On Central, but I've never used it because I like to have control over how my mods are managed (and I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing). So if you can't find the mods you're looking for through the Add-On Central, you can go to PadresFan's mod site - it has lots and lots of things for you to look through:

PadresFan's Mod Website

Hope this gets you on the right track.

Thanks very much.

Still, I've got a question that I couldn't find an answer on in the online manual. I've found the images file in my saved_game folder. I see many logos and other images in the folder. Now, do I remove all of these (not all of them are logos) or do I select the ones that I'm replacing? I'm wondering if the game can make appropriate secondary logos etc. from the mod logos as there's some option where you can reset the team logos, isn't it? Or what is that option for? I'm using Captain Walrus' logos by the way. But if anyone has suggestions on mod logo files from Padresfan that can save all of these problems at once that I'd be willing to listen.

Well, if you put the logos in your root "logos" folder before you create your league/universe, then OOTP should look for matching team logos in the root "logos" folder and copy them to the location you're talking about. If you have already started your league, you would either need to copy over any team logos in your saved-game/news/html/images folder. I wouldn't just delete everything out, because as you said, there are more than just logos in there. Basically every image (player photos, logos) for your league will be in that folder (I think).

Unless someone else is aware of something, I think you may be stuck doing a manual copy/paste/rename/restart OOTP or manually importing logos/uniforms for each team from the Options & Ballpark screen for each team. I think the only time it happens automatically is during the initial creation of the league, but someone might be able to correct me on that.

It's not a problem to me start a new game. I haven't started this one yet because I'd like to have the mods in place before I really start.

So, the root "logos" folder is the following one: Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 12\data\logos ? I can see a Bulldog and Dolphins logo in there (and I'm kind of wondering what those are for?).

Yes, put them in there. Then, you can go and edit each team's colors and logo, and when you click on the button in game to replace, the images in that folder will show up. You click the one you want.

Where exactly do I edit the team's colors and logo?

Maybe it could help if someone could tell me step-by-step what I should do from putting the logos in the appropriate files until having and seeing the right logos in the game with the corresponding team colors, jerseys etc. and then we can make this thread the ultimate guide to customizing OOTP's logos, colors and perhaps jerseys. This is the first time I'm basically doing this and I know I'm probably asking for a lot.

Don't worry about the dolphin and bulldogs...they're just examples. If you haven't started a game yet put the logos you're going to use in the folder as advised in the above posts. If you've started a game, they'll go in the saved game>news>html>images folder. Don't delete any of the other image files...they're used in the game. You do your jersey, cap, and logo edits on each team's home page. See here for more information:

Great! I'm getting there. I've done the logos, jerseys and caps and now I'm looking to add the photos and ballparks.

Now, I've downloaded Gambo's photos and I'm not sure where and how to put them in the folders. I think it's in "photos" (obviously) but do I have to put the entire folders in "photos" or just the content of the folders (i.e. taking the jpg-files out of their folders)?

Regarding ballparks: I thought it'd be cool to use either the parks' pictures or the MLB The Show set (from Padresfan) but I kind of read something about that and it seems to give some problems with how the game considers the baseball park's dimension or something. Anyway, there was some hassle about it and I'm wondering what that's about and if it will give me any headaches if I use these photos or the MLB The Show set from Padresfan.

Those photos are fine, they don't change any dimensions unless you manually do it yourself. Put those ballparks folder. To edit ballpark photos, you have to be in commish mode, go to each team's homepage, and click on edit ballpark. If you put real player photos in the photos folder, and the names are formatted correctly, the game should auto assign.

I've been reading through here because I'm having trouble getting my player photos to appear. I'm pretty sure I've followed all steps laid out in the manual. They are all .jpg files, I think I got them from Gambo originally, too, though that was a while ago that I downloaded them for a previous version of the game. But they appear to be formatted properly, and are in the right folder. Can anyone suggest what I might have screwed up?

Have you started a new game or do you want the photos to appear in a saved game?

Have you downloaded the All-In-One mod from Download Central yet?

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Thanks Wolf, but I'm pretty much set now. I followed all the instructions and downloaded the different mods from PadresFan's site. Now I'm editing the ballpark locations but I've seemed to make an error (that's a different thread).

I've just started a new historical league. I tried to put in the player photos on the same day I created the league, but can't see them.

With me it works the smoothest if you put the photos in the photo-folder that's located in the data-folder (OOTP BASEBALL 12\DATA\PHOTO) and then start a new league. There is a mod with photos that is divided up in the eras in where the players played. I think it's Gambo's.

Thank you, my friend, this is what I was doing wrong. I misunderstood the manual on what folder the photos needed to go in, apparently. Maybe a sign that I should sleep more and play OOTP less?

Well, the explanation in the manual is the culprit in my opinion. It got me confused, too.

There's another method, however, on placing photos in saved games. I don't know how to do that and I don't like it because it sounds like it could eventually corrupt your saved game or something. It's probably just in my imagination but I hate it when games are corrupting.

The reason the photos need to be in the data\photos folder is that once they are loaded in the game, it converts the players name to the players ID # and saves it to the saved games\\\\\images folder..Example john_smith.jpg bcomes player_1234.png. This changed in 11 patches. So it may not have gotten in the manual in time..
you can put pics directly into the saved games\\\\images folder , but you would need to look up every single player id number and change the name as in the example above..way, way too much work..
