Post Major Slowdown Problem

I'm using OOTP4, the latest patch, on Windows 98. I am in 2010 on Career 2002 league, and am experiencing some major slowdown with the game. It takes about 5 minutes to start up, and going to next year can take up to 7 minutes, and a 20-round amateur draft takes up to an hour. I have plenty of drive space and a good processor. Can anyone help?

the 20-round amateur draft may be causing the it as you probably have as many players in your league as to fill up texas. it has been recommended somewhere on the board to go with a 5-round draft or less.

How much RAM do you have? Plus, I would agree with bkurtz, you are clogging your minor leagues with too many players. Not only is it slowing down your game playing but having too many players is hindering the development of others.

Yes definately, reducing your average team rosters to around 85 players or leass per team will correct these problems. Do this by releasing all the flotsam and jetsam (like POOR-FAIR rated players or 30+ year old low minor leaguers) that are clogging up the teams minor league systems.
