How in the ___ did this happen???
I set up my Northern League to be a low level indy league...with salaries running from $25K up to $60K.
And Jacksonville has 24 guys making the minimum and one guy making $7 MILLION despite the fact that cash maximum is set to $2M and their budget is $3M. How were they able to sign him? General Information Team Focus Rebuilding Staff Payroll $383,400 Player Payroll $8,063,100 Current Budget $3,125,900 Projected Balance $-14,682,415 Average Player Salary $278,038 League Average Salary $59,831 Highest Paid Players: 1) Jack Fox$7,363,100 2) Gilberto Aguirre$25,000 3) Tony Alonso$25,000 4) Sammy Barnes$25,000 5) Ben Frazier$25,000

Try using the new Player Salary Cap option, limits the highest salary a player can make in the league.

OK, thanks. But it still seems like a bad glitch...and he's not the only one...
It happens to draft picks...then when they resign they sign a more normal contract.

Well, isn't it just because you edited all of the financial stuff but then never set the player bonus baseline to a lower number? So, maybe not a glitch, but just an overlook of that setting?

Was this a free agent signing? Or was it a draft pick signing?
If it was a free agent signing, the only thing i would check is how much money the teams in your indy league are making. i wouldn't think those teams would have $7 mil laying around to offer a player. If it was a draft pick, it may be an issue. i know you can change the baseline for signing bonuses. But how much control over it do we have. And is the baseline the same for all leagues in a particular "universe." That would cause the player to ask for the same thing that players in the majors are asking for... which might not be so unrealistic. But still the indy leauge should not have been able to sign the player. Then the question is whether that player would try to sign on in the majors or is he stuck in the indy league where no one can afford to sign him. Last edited by Dark Horse; 06-28-2011 at 07:20 PM. |

Well, now I feel like a fool. It was set at 1.5M. Let this be a lesson - don't make the stupid mistake I made!
But isn't it still a glitch that a team signed a player who was way over their budget?

Ways to prevent too much money from accumulating in your league include, but aren't limited to, lowering various revenues such as merchandies, ticket prices, salaries (see above), media contracts, avg attendance. Would be interesting to see your league financial report. |
