I ordered back in February or March, I believe. I haven't played OOTP since OOTP 9, but it was by far the best sports sim I've ever played. Personally, I have no qualms about waiting for this. It gives me additional time to job hunt. Once I get OOTP 12, I'm sure I'll have plenty of distractions.

I came into this thread thinking that, since there's finally a release date and updates are being given fairly regularly, the bitching and whining would finally stop...from both sides. I was half right. The "where's our game" crowd has quieted considerably, but the apologists just don't know when to stop, do they? Still crying, still attacking, still spouting off every excuse in the book like any of them are valid. The sooner they get over themselves and grow up, the better off we'll all be. And to think, all I came here to do was say how excited I was about the new features that have already been revealed and how nice it is to have a release date. I'm really looking forward to this game. |

I find the childishness amusing, but not necessarily bothersome. The delays don't bother me either since I am enjoying version 11 so much. What IS bothering me I must admit however, is the lack of information regarding the upcoming version. I don't feel there is any excuse to at least let consumers know much more detail about features and fixes etc..

I never thought I'd use the "I've been here longer than you" defense so this is kind of shocking, but there it is. I've been here since back when people really did have a reason to complain about something. I saw OOTP go from a fantastic game (OOTP 6 & 6.5) to a buggy frustrating mess (OOTP2007) back to a truly fantastic game. The fact is your opinion is based off the same ignorant "the customer is always right" BS that gives us such crappy products and services in the modern era. Here's a statistic(an we baseball fans love statistics), the customer isn't always right but the customer is almost 90% of the time an asshole. I see your point though. We should all publicly complain about Markus for taking the time to create another source of income for his company. That will, in no way, be beneficial in the future for all of us.

I don't know why but I feel like adding... maybe it's the fact my mind is a bit cloudy, or maybe it's just the fact some how I took the comment about "blindly defending Markus" personally. I don't know... but I did...
The fact is I consider myself a very fair and even-minded, if not slightly lazy, human being. I don't run around blindly heaping praise on developers, or anybody really, just simply for doing their job. On the opposite side of the coin I don't blindly run around spouting of that some minor inconvenience to myself spells doom and gloom for all life as we know it. I am an American and the simple fact is I'm bombarded with that negative line of thinking in almost every aspect of my life from politics to how people view Americans. It's all negative and in most cases it's all a hell of a lot more important than a video game. I'm not saying this to make myself feel better, or to make anyone feel bad. I'm saying this so you understand what I'm about to say next. OOTP Developments is the very best company I have ever had the pleasure of purchasing a service from. I invite you to really stop and think for a moment how incredible it really is that year-in-year-out Markus creates a game that is of higher quality and able to deliver far more content. This is all done on a budget that most studios would consider impossible to operate on, with a team that until this year was like 2 people. Also let's not forget Markus isn't just pleasing one group of fans. He's attempting to please people who like history to replay accurately, people who like managing MLB teams, people who enjoy their own fictional universes, and people who like the competition of online leagues. Finally this all happens consistently. Now if you measure consistency by who gets out of the gate first, then maybe you would disagree. But if you measure consistency by the level of quality put into a product over time, by the level of craftsmanship a person puts into their trade then you have no choice but to agree. Do I defend Markus and OOTP? Yes. It's not blindly however, it's because if Markus were more like "the other guys" then I wouldn't have any reason to be here since I personally dislike games that attempt to blind you by superficiality in an attempt to ignore the fact you're buying a $60 roster set. If that bothers you.... well TS; I don't personally care one bit about your $30.

I play all year round, 365 days a year if the wife would ignore me....
So, who gives a crap when Markus turns it loose, I am happy, 11 rocks, 12 will likely be even cooler. My kudos to all the work on this product.

And, yes, they are by and large good people - no more or less so than any other group - and your slanderous lie about them belonging in prison is despicable. You need to go learn something besides empty-headed slogans and agenda-based hatred. You'd be amazed how completely wrong you are about all of this.

Sheesh! Was Exxon a bad example? Will "Conoco" cause the same feelings of corporate hatred to bubble up to the surface and be exposed in a completely inappropriate thread?

Sorry to clutter up the thread with replies to that nonsense, Silvam, but aggressive ignorance and vicious slander is a combination that makes me want to break things.

![]() Seriously, I completely understand why developers hate to give release dates. Thanks for the update, Markus. Looking forward to the Road-To-Release articles. Oh, and with the planned 2D/3D engine I really do want OOTP 13 now. ![]() I'll even pre-order it now if you'll let me and you won't hear a peep from about the release date. Unless you delay it past Opening Day 2012.

My guess is that you are still mostly correct about the vast majority of oil executives being good and decent people. I would be willing to bet there were those who were willfully negligent in how they operated or handled the spills. I'm pretty sure I've heard a news story a while back where the evidense was compelling that BP did not handle the drilling or the spill in a professional and ethical manner. Possibly warrenting crimial charges for some. |

Alaska will take much longer to recover because of the cold. Biological activity is cut roughly in half by every drop of 10 degrees C, so full recovery will take some time there. But it will recover.
Dollars to doughnuts that no one is convicted of anything in the BP Macondo spill. The real culprit, experts have told me, was a suboptimal choice in well design. There will be many lawsuits, many attorneys will grow rich, some truth will creep out, and life will go on and all will be forgotten. Already my fishermen friends are telling me that sport fishing in the Gulf is better than they can ever remember, due to the ban on shrimping which has led to some very plump shrimp-fed fish. I should also note that federal oversight/inspection was lacking in the extreme. And this with Obama as president!
