Individual Batter vs. Pitcher stats & ....
I have two questions regarding my OOTP 11 historical draft league game.
1. How do I get the individual batter vs individual pitcher matchup stats to appear on the in game stats? During any game I manually play, I can read the accumulated stats of what LHB's and RHB's have done vs. LHPs and RHP's, but the line that is supposed to show what a particular batter or particular pitcher have done against each other still shows all zero's, even after playing multiple games against each other. I've searched the in-game options for something I may have over looked, when I initially did the game Set Up, but I don't find anything that would turn on this option. 2. How does OOTP 11 replenish new first year players for future first year player drafts in a historical league? Do I need to download updates for OOTP 11, or does one need to purchase the new version of OOTP when it becomes available? |

1. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is determined by the Tracked Stats Detail. It's under Game Setup --> League Setup --> Options. I don't know which level is necessary to get it to show, but it's definitely there for my league at Very High.
2. I'm a little confused about what you're asking. If you mean historical seasons (for example, you start in 1950 and want to know what happens in 1951), then the game will either import the rookies for the next year from it's database or make up fictional players, depending on how you have your league setup. You shouldn't have to download anything if I'm understanding your question right. |

Thanks for the help on #1. I didn't realize Tracked Stats Detail was for that purpose, but sure enough, after I read what you pointed out to me, that's what I was looking for. Regarding #2, I guess I confused even myself with the question I posed, so I'll try to rephrase it: How does OOTP 11 replenish the names of actual rookies from year to year? Is OOTP 11 updated with the actual names of rookies from the OOTP web site, or are actual rookies beyond the 2010 season contained within the next verson of OOTP, which would be OOTP 12? |

Steve (or anybody):
I'm talking about the real life prospects that were included in my custom historical game. When I began playing OOTP baseball for the first time, I began with version 11, and started with the 2009 season. During the inaugaral draft, the real life prospects for the 2009 season were, of coarse, part of the inaugaral draft. So, I'm wondering how OOTP 11replenishes its real life draft prospects for the first year player drafts that will occur during the subsequent seasons of 2010, 2011, etc. Will I need to purchase OOTP12, or is OOTP11 somehow updated with real life prospects for seasons 2010, 2011, etc? Thank you for any insight. |

Here's an attempt at a simple explanation:
Any historical game played in OOTP derives it's players from the Lahman DB that is included in the game. That DB has the necessary info on any player that actually played in the ML during any given season. The last possible season for that info was 2009. At some point, there will be a Lahman DB that includes 2010. However, you will not be able to access that 2010 info within OOTP11 (or at least not easily). However, you could get 2010 prospects into your league after you buy OOTP12 -- however, only those prospects who actually played some ML time in 2010, not those that were drafted in 2010 and never got out of the minors. By contrast, the 2010 MLB game in OOTP11 is not really a historical game. It was created by volunteers, who manufactured a draft list to include some of the top prospects that were available for the 2010 draft. There will likely be something of the same for the 2011 season when OOTP12 comes out. Hope that helps. |

Thanks, Steve.
As usual, you answered my question. I look forward to the release of OOTP 12, so I can update my game with the real life rookies that made their MLB debut during the 2010 season. However, as I type this message, one more question comes to mind: The OOTP 11 I'm currently using is a boxed version I purchased at Best Buy, because I wanted the convience of having the CD. When I upgrade to OOTP 12, what will my upgrade options be? Will I be able to purchase the CD version of OOTP 12 from the OOTP web site and use it to upgrade my OOTP 11? Will I be able to just download OOTP 12 from the OOTP web site as an upgrade if I so choose? Will I have to return to the retail store to purchase a boxed version of OOTP 12? |

New versions of OOTP are not upgrades, per se. They are complete games, with new features. It doesn't matter how you buy each one. What happens is that you will be able to import your existing league (in your saved game folder), just as you can now import a league created in OOTP10 into your OOTP11 game.
