Issue with Player History Screen
I am having an issue with the player history screen and how it's formated. I recently got a MacBook Pro and installed ootp11 on it and then transfered a solo game I started on my old DELL computer. I have posted a picture of what it looks like. It isn't just one player, but it's most of the players I have checked.
It's all like in one paragraph towards the bottom of it. I transfered it over to my Mac after the 1st season, so not sure if that had anything to do with it as it's a different format than Windows. Is there any solution to fix this?

Maybe the different platforms are not backwards compatible?

The data you are seeing is stored in text files. In text files, Mac uses a CR (carriage return) while Windows uses CRLF (Carriage Return+Line Feed).
Just to make things one big happy umm... mess, Unix (and I believe therefore Linux) uses LF (Linefeeds). What you are seeing is the text files being split between using CR and CRLF for linebreaks - and OOTP is expecting just one kind of linebreak character. What is the game currently on now? Mac? |

I know little about Macs, but this little utility was compiled for Mac/Win/Unix.
https://ccrma.stanford.edu/~craig/utility/flip/ In your savegame folder, you should see a filepath: \<myleague.lg>\news\txt\players Take that players directory and simply make a copy of it and all its files in the news/txt directory. Get your flip utility and place it in the players folder. Get to a command line and then run: flip -m *.* (if Mac uses syntax similar to Windows) Code:
Usage: flip [-t|-u|-d|-m] filename[s]
Converts ASCII files between Unix, MS-DOS/Windows, or Macintosh newline formats
Options:
-u = convert file(s) to Unix newline format (newline)
-d = convert file(s) to MS-DOS/Windows newline format (linefeed + newline)
-m = convert file(s) to Macintosh newline format (linefeed)
-t = display current file type, no file modifications
Load the game and see what it looks like. If it's even worse, revert back to your backup directory. |

I couldn't find any executable file on that site for a Mac.
I may just give up and deal with the issue. It's not that big of an issue. |

Yeah, I downloaded that and then placed it in my players folder, but I don't know what to type into the command thing.

Klew, there's enough of them out there. If you don't get a response in a relatively short amount of time to your question, I suggest you either start a new thread Ping Mac Users: Player History, or something of the sort and/or email battisti. I believe he has some skills there.

Carriage Return for Windows/Mac/Linux FIX
Hope the OP fixed his issue. If not, this is what I did to fix the problem:
I just recently converted OOTP11 from windows to Linux. I had the same strange player/league history display - the dates are all mashed together and not listing correctly. I used the flip file mentioned earlier and it worked perfectly. My league, team and player histories are all displaying correctly in linux, as they did in windows. If anyone is having the same issue, do this: Download the flip file for your operating system. Use the command line switch for the OPERATING SYSTEM YOU ARE USING NOW. In other words, I had a windows copy of my database. I installed OOTP11 for linux and now I use "unix". Therefore the command I used was flip.linux -u. I went to my ootp11/data/saved_games/"name of league".lg/news folder and copied the txt folder (as a backup). Then I went into the txt folder. I had three folders here - league, players and teams. In each folder I ran the flip script, as such: ./"location of flip file"/flip.linux -u * This converted all the txt files from windows (or whatever) to unix. I had to make the file executable first (chmod +x flip.linux). Note that I ran the script with the -t flag first to see what file set was being used (mine said "MIXED"). I made a backup copy of the txt folder, just in case... To open a command window in Mac OS, use this sequence: Command + Space to open spotlight, and type "terminal". Terminal is the same as a command line in windows, for this discussion at least. I downloaded the file from https://ccrma.stanford.edu/~craig/utility/flip/ I selected the libc6 linux pre-compiled script. You should select whatever version you need. The source code is available as well, if for some reason you want to compile it. These same instructions should work for a windows to Mac OS conversion as well. In fact this should be a sticky post, so anyone else with a similar issue can quickly reference this post and fix the problem with a simply forum search. Hope this helps!! |

OOTP 12.2.17 will properly read the text files with the "mixed" line endings now. So there's no need to repair the text files if you're running OOTP 12.2.17 or a later version.
