2k's only real problem this year is fielding is still a bit wonkie. Honestly their "My Player" mode is almost totally equal than "Road to The Show". If your manager's AI when it comes to handleing pitchers was better I'd say it out ranks it. They need to do away with the 3rd party exclusitivity deal. That would bring console baseball back to possibly beng fantastic.

It's possible. I've never been able to get into Franchise and season type modes in console baseball games. I just think no matter what the statistics are going to be messed up, at the very least for your team. Batting for me is as much about which batter is facing which hitter, and if one person is batting all the time (like a player) then their tenancies will always over ride a player's. So instead of watching Joe Mauer hit I'm watching Joe Mauer hit while using Matt Osika's brain. I'm pretty familiar with my brain and I for one don't trust it to accurately judge pitch type or location with the same ability of Joe Mauer. |

True, but they aren't honestly made for that either. Their audience is typically looking for action. Those of us who want an accurate simulation tend to go with them for a little bit, but eventually get frustrated by limitations and problems with logic and end up playing OOTP.

Heck as a matter of fact that is the entire story on why I play OOTP. lol. No console game ever gave me a real accurate simulation. I tried a demo for OOTP and literally fell in love the second I started it up.

Yeah, I liked MLBTS for a while since the stat accruacy was ok, but the terrible drafting engine and wonky free agency caused me to give up on it and go to OOTP. I now hate all other baseball games I've played, due to the "OOTP effect".

There was a decent series back in the PS2-era called Allstar Baseball which I always used to like. They had a franchise mode where the MLB would expand by two teams and you'd control one of them. Chose from a dozen cities, a couple dozen names and even 7 or 8 different parks to play in. Stadiums were all heavily detailed, with working out of town scoreboards before they were standard in games, stadiums with retractable roofs would have their roofs open and close depending on the weather. If only the gameplay had been nearly as good. |

And see that's pretty much the same as 2k10. It's great for single play games but struggles in franchise mode. Defense is odd too. It works and everything, it's just every play is like it's the final out of the 9th. Got people diving and throwing mid air on routine grounders. |

To mesh the console and OOTP discussion, I've said a few times that the ideal game for me would have OOTP's sim engine & customization and 2k Sports' graphics & gameplay. And if someone could make a version of that for American Football I don't think I'd ever leave the house lol.

I think I may have said it once, but it's a testament to Markus at how great of a baseball game he makes with as little money and as small of team as he has for development. The simple fact a guy in Germany can put out a better game than companies with millions of dollar behind them, who also happen to come from the place that created the sport and claims it to be our national past-time is amazing. |

The Show, no matter how people try to make it, is not built for simming and playing as a GM. There simply is no point in doing that. The game is built to play, and really play a full season everyday.
