This is just frustrating
Ok, as many customers have mentioned, mlb 09 quick start leagues have aggravating financial quagmires. In my second league I've been trying to correct the problem the best I can. Today I tested by trading a player in the last year of his contract paying 8 million. The player I requested was only making 400k, yet the message I received back was that this deal would drop there budget to -9.8 million even though they currently have a positive budget of 11 million +, they also have 10 million + for FA contracts. On top of this, the afformentioned club has no outstanding FA offers on the table nor any pending trades. So my question is why did I get this message? How would this trade even place them in the red 9 million plus?
Overall the game has a few more positives than negatives however, the financial aspect has become mind numbingly frustrating when discussing mlb quick start leagues. (For those that will offer up the suggestion of me just playing fictional leagues, please dont I want to play with real players for the start of the league) I am deeply offended that after two patches and over a month since release these financial/budget issues have not been fixed let alone even discussed by Markus. Has anyone been able to modify the problems with mlb quick start leagues, besides turning financials off? Though it may offend the ootp fanboys, this is becoming a game killer for me.... I'll second this complaint, though I am not so sure it is a problem with the game itself as it is a problem with the real life salaries. The computer, unlike a real owner, doesn't allow you to go over budget. I am almost finished a season and can't wait to see what happens in the offseason. The majority of teams have no money, but there are going to be a ton of free agents out there...IRL money seems to grow on trees for free agents. Anybody go through the offseason yet?
