Minor League Options
Hi there!
I have a few quick questions concerning when (and how) these work, as I've paid for a few unwise moves. Please tell me if the following is correct: Spring Training: You can invite anyone who's on your 40 man roster by moving them to the active roster. If you move them back down before Opening Day, it does not count as an option. Can a player with 5 yrs experience refuse assignment if you are trying to pare your roster down? I'm guessing the answer is yes. Regular Season: Obviously if you demote them, it will count as an option. (Unless they've already used an option for the year, etc. etc.) September Callups - after World Series: Moving them back down does not(?) count as an option. Off season/Preseason: It does count, so you want to get your roster back down to 25 immediately after the World Series if not before. Is this correct? |

Spring Training DOES burn an option in ootp, but not in real life. Not sure about the 5 year refusal question, but on your transaction screen players who can refuse will have a special mark after their name. September call-ups do burn an option in ootp, not sure about real life. Offseason/preseason - not sure if flipping the calendar burns an option for the next season, but I would pare down the roster before Dec. 31st just in case.
