Oh, definitely. It would've felt like an asterisk on it.

I'm not saying they should continue the game. I'm going to bed assuming the game is over. All I'm saying is...as a Phillies fan, this is perhaps the most frustrating thing that could possibly happen.

As a Phillies fan, I know this wouldn't have happened any other way. I don't know when they're going to get a chance to play this out, because tomorrow looks worse than right now. Game 5 ain't over yet, the Phils still have a good bullpen, and all it'll take is one run in the sixth or seventh to get to Madson and Lidge.

Still, there is no stream of profanity, no words at all, that I can come up with right now to describe this situation. They were so close...and now it has to wait.

Part of the problem here is that the post-season schedule was lengthened last year by four days at the behest of FOX which wanted only one weekend in the World Series instead of the previous two.

I think they'd be better served to cut days from the post-season schedule. If that means dropping travel days in the Division Series and LCS, then so be it. Heck, before the mid-1960s, the World Series was often played on consecutive days with no off days at all.

This just convinces me that God is mad at the Phillies and is doing whatever he can to give Tampa the advantage. I bet it's because we signed Joe Morgan after 1980 season and everyone hates him. We're being punished forever.

They don't even need to cut travel days. They could take out the extraneous offdays in the first two series so that the only days off are the travel days, which isn't the case now.

What they need to do is cut the day off in both Championship series between game 4 and 5. It is absolutely ridiculous to have those as days off. They also need to cut that day off in the division series after game 1 for some teams. It needs to go like this.

AL DIVISION SERIES (Both)............NL DIVISION SERIES (Both)
Game 1- Mon..............................Game 1- Tuesday
Game 2- Tuesday........................Game 2- Wednesday
Game 3- Thursday.......................Game 3- Friday
Game 4- Friday* .........................Game 4- Saturday*
Game 5- Sunday*........................Game 5- Monday*

AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES.............NL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Game 1- Tuesday........................Game 1- Wendnesday
Game 2- Wednesday....................Game 2- Thursday
Game 3- Friday...........................Game 3- Saturday
Game 4- Saturday.......................Game 4- Sunday
Game 5- Sunday*.......................Game 5- Monday*
Game 6- Tuesday*......................Game 6- Wedneday*
Game 7- Wednesday*..................Game 7- Thursday

Then they can start the World Series on a Saturday and follow the same format.

The Devil Rays don't have hotel rooms. They had already checked out.

That sucks. Teams used to stay at the Sheraton in Society Hill 10 years ago. I don't know if they still stay there.

Sooooo wish I still lived about 10 minutes from where they are staying. I'd be there all night. I don't need sleep.

Any other game gets stopped at least an inning earlier than Game 5 was. Suspend the game, even with the Phillies leading and go through the rest today (if you can't give it to the Phillies, which I'm not going to hold a gun to Selig to do). Don't wait for the Rays to tie it and then call things when the Phillies are going to spend an extra half-inning fielding in the horrible conditions.

I'll give him credit for owning up to it after the game, but the way it was handled before that was quite poor imo.

I don't think MLB really had much of a choice. My guess is they probably wanted to see how the top and heart of the Rays order could do in the Top of the 6th.

Things really don't look good for Tuesday either and it is forecast to even snow a little on Wednesday.

10 Day Weather Forecast for Philadelphia, PA - weather.com

MLB rules technically allow them to move this one to Florida, but my guess is they'll just ride it out through Wednesday. Even if they get this thing in by Thursday, they still have Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday to wrap it up (if necessary -- though I'll be pissed if it screws up Fox Sunday's animation block).

I live in West Chester, PA... about 20 minutes from Wilmington, DE where the Rays are at (should've heckled them all night)... and about 40 minutes from Philly.

I can say, that the rain you saw last night, has not stopped. Its still pouring and its not supposed to stop. I can't see this game being played tonight unfortunately.

I'm just counting on it being played Wednesday, you should all do the same because it sucks here right now.

Play will not resume tonight.

Game Five of the 2008 World Series postponed | MLB.com: Official Info

Quote:
Game Five of the 2008 World Series will not resume tonight due to inclement weather. Game Five is now tentatively scheduled to resume on Wednesday evening at 8:37 p.m. (ET), weather permitting.

Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig said: "While obviously we want to finish Game Five as soon as possible, the forecast for today does not allow for us to continue the game this evening. We are closely monitoring tomorrow's forecast and will continue to monitor the weather on an hourly basis. We will advise fans as soon as we are able to make any final decisions with respect to tomorrow's schedule."

Hope they don't have to play a Game on 11-4 Election Day because who would carry it FSN? ESPN? TBS? MYNETWORKTV? CW? Fox can't because of Presidential Coverage.
I would give the Rays the Win and go on to Game 6 or finish the Game like let say where the Lions play because that's the neareast Dome to Phil.
I would say all teams need a Retrackable Roofs.

Yeah, I don't see how anyone could argue with any of that.
