I'm going to Game 4 at Dodger Stadium, and it's looking like that will be the Dodgers final game this year.

Holy crap. 3 games to go, 2 at home, and the Phils need 1 win to make the series for the first time since I was in high school. I can't believe they were almost out of playoff contention 3 weeks ago.

Wow...I don't want to think my years and years of suffering as a Phils Phan is going to end but my heart is really starting to believe. When Stairs stepped up and knocked that ball out I just shook my head and was amazed that the breaks are going the boys way.

i couldnt believe it either. I've been a fan of Stairs for a long time and it was great seeing him come through. I'm sort of Dodger/Phily fan so this series is kinda wierd lol. Although i am rooting for the Phils to win, cause its just been so long seen we've won.

C'mon guys. Don't get all gushy on me here. Do you remember how 1993 was "THE YEAR"? The high jinx, the blue collar boys, the cohesion?? We've seen it before and we've seen how fast it went up in smoke too with one Mitch Williams fastball.

I will celebrate when the Phillies get their 4th win of the World Series and not a second before that last out is recorded. Stay strong with me here, fellas.

Too bad that Reading Phillies can't play like that.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Photo Gallery

Good photo that captures Stairs finishing his swing and the ball taking off into the night.

Matt Stairs is the man. I'm rooting for the Dodgers in this series, but was really happy for Matt. He's pure class.

Yeah well the home run was not so great when you are a Dodger fan and your team was winning and you're at the game.

You mean a Mitch Williams SLOWball. Those pitches were slow enough to Drive Miss Daisy.

I'm celebrating tonight. It's been 15 years since we can call our Phils the NL champions. It's only happened six times in our franchise history. Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we return to Philadelphia fans that remind them there's four games to go.

Enjoy it while it lasts, GR. It will be the last victory of the year for the Phillies, redardless of who they face.

I'm a White Sox fan and have been pulling for the Phils. Haven't forgiven the Dodgers for '59. Only condition in which I root for the Dodgers is if they play the Yankees.

It may be funny but if I'm playing in a tournament and get knocked out I'll pull for the guy that kicked my butt, but if a team clobbers the White Sox or The Bears I never want to see them win and root for them only if they play teams I absolutely detest in post season.

Anyway to undo history and never trade Johnny Callison for Gene Freese?
(One of Bill Veeck's many bad trades. Freese couldn't field and only seemed to hit in Fenway Park.) After the '59 pennant Veeck traded off Norm Cash, Don Mincher, Johnny Callison, John Romano, and Earl Battey.
Any one of these guys could have helped us snare a pennant or two in the '60s. Sigh.

Go Phillies.
