In my [league redacted] League (INT level) there are 24 rounds of players created for twelve rounds of draft, or 288 players total. In other threads I've read references to draftees going direct to the majors or AAA. That certainly isn't happening in this league.
I had the fifth position in the draft, and by the time it got to me the best player left was rated 20 (20-80 scale) overall against all players and 23 against players at his position. He had to go in at the lowest level of minors. I just checked the four teams that drafted ahead of me, and all of those players were also assigned direct to the lowest level. Only two players in the entire draft had overalls higher than 20; one was 21 and the other 22. (Note: Scouting is off, and there are only two levels of minors — AAA and AA.) What happened? Is this what I should have expected? Obviously, no team is going to get any immediate help with drafts like this. |

I think this has to do with the talent level in that specific part of the world,I know I read about this somewhere but I can't remember where.

Yeah, I have that happen in my fictional league too.
Obviously it's not QUITE on the scale as you have, but I have a 16 team league, but even by the bottom of the 1st round, the potential ratings are in the 30's. If you're not drafting in the top half of the round, you're not getting any help. Not only that, there's a HUGE surplus of skilled middle relievers. I'm in 1953 right now, so most teams have an 8 or 9 man pitching staff (5 man rotation, 2 or 3 RP's and a CL). Is the game still creating players based on modern-day trends? Because there's a lot of middle relief talent on the FA list. |

I don't think this problem is due to the players being from Japan. I'm also noticing a steady talent deflation in the test version of my online league. We're a 24-team league that drafts 480 players from a pool of about 500. The pool is populated exclusively through our two feeder leagues (no generated players). We're two years into play and so far the talent has been pretty much what I would call "normal" in that the first round is filled with 4.5-5* potential players and a slow drop-off occurs after that (we reach only 1* potentials left around round 7-8). That works just great and is just what I'm looking for.
What I'm noticing in my test league, however, is that a couple years from now the talent falls off the face of the Earth. This coincides with the time that the last of the players generated when the league was first created leave the feeder leagues. The players generated after the "Big Bang" aren't anywhere near the talent of those original players. This despite the fact that the only change I've made to the default PCMs league-wide is to slightly increase the "Avoid Ks" saber PCM in the feeder leagues. Once the "Big Bang" players leave the system, we're routinely into nothing but 1* potentials by the 2nd round. The top starting pitchers are usually rated 50-50-50 (on a 1-100 scale), and there are only a couple of those at best. And while this is in a league with scouting on (and thus you can have erroneous scouting reports), these low ratings hold true no matter what scout is judging the pool (as commish I can access all the teams and use their best scouts to grade talent). As we approach our 3rd amateur draft, I would love to know what's causing this issue and see if someone can suggest a remedy.
