Is there going to be a World Series Classic added, every 4 years? Not sure if it was added in last version (since I skipped OOTP 8), but that would be one of the best features to add to my league!

Your argument about revenue is flawed as well. If a team is good enough to get a first round bye- than they have shown they are capable of winning a world championship- which is significantly more lucrative- and has several intangible monetary benefits as well- than whatever extra revenue is gained from chancing a first round loss in a five game series (at least in baseball). I wont' disagree with your assertion that the players would rather play- but from an organizational perspective- the big picture is always more important. |

Good news - "the never get fired" option returns in OOTP 9.

Does the playoff mode include three ( or four ) league options? I'm thinking specifically of Federal League or PCL plus the established MLB model. After much tinkering, and over a hundred restarts, Ive finally gotten close to my ideal baseball universe: 4 equal leagues broken down across roughly geological lines. The regional conflicts are rife with both intended and quite unanticipated storylines. The only thing I cant really do is have a true 4 team ( one per subleague ) post season.
I cant tell you how many times Ive been frustrated trying to work around the one-league, two subleague limitation. Any light on the horizon? |

To piggyback onto that last comment, does OOTP9 support playoffs between different leagues (I think that's what he's asking)?
I would like a setup where a team plays its league schedule and there are no playoffs in each league. The league champion is determined based solely on the regular season. So the regular season champion is rewarded by the league history showing their championship, the player pages show that they won a championship, etc. But then have a true "world championship" playoff after the regular season between the league winners. It's easiest to think of this in an international setup. Basically, for example, it would be like the Japanese champions playing the Major League champions. |

Yes, essentially what I was seeking is a format similar to what Mr. Berry is describing.
I'm pretty indifferent to a World Baseball League, at least so far, but applying the multi-league playoff format is exactly what I would like to see. |

I'm sure the answer to that question is "yes".

As someone who was pushing for this, I an very happy. I have a question though.
Will it be possible to have, for example, a 16 team playoff, where SL1's three division winners and SL2's three division winners qualify, then the top 10 other teams, regardless of subleague, qualify? |

That was part of my proposal, that playoff qualifiers be selectable either from each subleague equally or from the league as a whole, at the user's discretion. I don't know if Markus was able to add that though. |

Have we had an answer to the double elimination question?

I think you can safely assume that it won't be in, at least this year. If there are no byes, there probably isn't more complicated stuff. For now, it seems to be a very simple structure, a very linear one. I don't speak officially, of course, but the absence of byes and the evidence put forth in this thread makes it seem very unlikely

This is exactly what I was hoping for! Great update! I am now very excited for this game.
Just wondering, I don't think this question has been asked yet: Will it be possible to re-seed teams in the second round, like they do in the NHL and NFL? Last edited by jg2977; 05-30-2008 at 09:35 PM. |

You should, yes. At least, that's how I proposed it: you'd have the choice between a fixed playoff draw like that used in the NBA or an open playoff draw like that used in the NHL and NFL.
