You have your own Thai fighter, and one is enough, especially if you are having mai-tai's along with your beers! |

Northern Lights Promotions, Im sorry, I made a mistake on the months. Since Hagler was cut in his win over Leotis Martin, he has to sit out until June. For some reason, I put May/June, my mistake, when I already had him up listed for a June fight on the promotional schedule. Once again, I apologize to the promoters of Hagler for the mix-up. Do you still want to sign for that fight in June? |

International Boxing Federation Championship
IBF Title Fight - Sheraton Miami Mart Hotel, Miami, FL, USA
[Champ] Cliff "HUGE" Hughes, USA, 21-0-0 (20) vs [IBF5/World11] Jack Dempsey, USA, 24-4-0 (22) The Manassa Mauler is 3-3-0, 0KO, 1TKO in title fights. Dempsey has gone 9-1-0, 5KO, 3TKO in his last ten fights to earn this title shot opportunity. HUGE Hughes is making his first defense of the crown that he won from Joe Frazier. I dont think this fight has a chance of going the distance since both fighters are huge punchers with devastating knockout power. Dempsey lands the first blow but receives twice as much in return here in the first round, 17-7, Hughes. The champion is doing a good job of mixing up his punches as he takes the 2nd, 17-7. A 16-12, round in favor of Dempsey as the sweat flies off with each shot into the first row. Dempsey in unrestrained in the 5th and lands consecutively in a 35-1, round that sees Hughes on his back twice! I am surprised that Hughes was able to get up and continue the fight, Dempsey just didnt have enough time in the round to finish the fight. A huge hook puts Hughes down again in the middle of the 6th. Hughes has terrible swelling around the left eye. Dempsey goes to the body with a right hook. Hughes is caught in the corner. Dempsey lands another solid shot and the ref steps in between the fighters and stops the fight at the 2:27 mark of the 6th round. Jack Dempsey is the new IBF Heavyweight champion! Winner: Dempsey Result: (TKO6) Cards: 48-45 Dempsey, 47-46 Dempsey, 46-46 Punch stats: 110-268, 41% Hughes - 161-352, 45.7% Dempsey

Ceccano, Italy
[EBU1/World13] Ivan Drago, Russia, 23-6-0 (22) vs [EBU3/World26] Franco Cavicchi, Italy, 14-2-0 (10)
Drago takes two out of the first three rounds convincingly, as the former EBU champion, Cavicchi is struggling to avoid his opponents power. Round 6 provides us with the best action of the fight, 21-13, Drago, but Cavicchi takes a wicked shot at the end of the round that causes a gash over his left eye. The worry of the cut seems to have jump-started Cavicchi as he takes the 7th and 8th rounds but Drago goes to work, peppering away with his right to Cavicchi's cut and the ref stops the fight due to the severe bleeding from Cavicchi's gash. Winner: Drago Result: (TKO9)(Cuts) Cards: 78-74, 78-75, 77-75, all three cards in favor of Drago Punch stats: 144-455, 31.6% Cavicchi - 176-586, 30% Drago |

Ridgewood Grove, Brooklyn, NY, USA
[51] Oliver McCall, USA, 18-2-0 (17) vs [52] Jerry Quarry, USA, 20-4-0 (20)
A wide hook puts McCall down with only four seconds left in the 2nd round. 24-4, McCall, in a nice comeback round after the knockdown. The fans havent sat down since the beginning of the fight in anticipation of an early knockout victory for one of their big American sluggers. This is what the heavyweight division is all about, 38 total wins between Quarry and McCall, with 37 ending by knockout. The 8th is an amazing round, the type that continues the frenzy in the stands, 17-17. Quarry is caught in the corner and falls to the canvas after McCall lands a clean hook in the 10th round. This fight is close as we enter the 13th round, but it looks as though McCall is getting stronger as the rounds go on. A body shot puts Quarry down here in the last round. Another knockdown from a huge hook. A third knockdown and this fight is over as McCall dramatically ends this fight and takes the decision away from the judges. Winner: McCall Result: (KO15) Cards: 135-129 McCall, 133-131 McCall, 132-132 Punch stats: 242-1010, 24% Quarry - 427-867, 49.3% McCall |

Carney Auditorium, Erie, PA, USA
Kelvin Davis, USA, 17-2-0 (12) vs Sonny Liston, USA, 20-3-0 (20)
Concrete Davis is suppose to be a pretty hard puncher, but tonight he is facing the epitome of what a real hard puncher is in Sonny Liston. Liston has recorded 20 wins, all by knockout! Davis is struggling to get inside of Liston's reach and is eating punches as he tries to infight. Davis is cut early over the right eye and has some pretty serious swelling over around the right eye. Liston's relentless pressure continues to wear on Davis and he is starting to really have problems seeing here at the end of the 5th. Liston traps Davis in the corner and goes to work. The ref steps in and stops the fight because Davis does not respond to Liston's attack. Winner: Liston Result: (TKO6) Cards: 48-47, 49-46, 49-46, all three cards in favor of Liston Punch stats: 72-289, 24.9% Davis - 196-299, 65.6% Liston
