Crash during trades
A much truer "technical" problem than I've posted about before...
I'm in the middle of my second season and just completed my second first year player draft. As soon as the draft was over I orchestrated a trade for a player who I missed out on in the draft. The "complete trade" button lit up, I hit it, and the game froze and had to be shut down. This happened 3 or 4 times. I've restarted the game a number of times and then tried some other trades. Oddly, most of the other trades worked. But then I found a combination of players where the game crashed yet again. So, I reinstalled the game and tried the trade again...and boom. Crash. I'm running 8.0.0.13 on a PC. Please help, since I basically can't play the game without being able to make trades. Thanks! Jack

That's ... odd. Is there anything unusual about the particular players in question that you can identify? Anything at all that might link them?

Good news and bad news
So, I figured out the problem - my lowest rookie league team was at max, so when I made the trade there was no place to put the players. Instead of placing them in the minors a level above, the game crashed. So, phew!
The bad news is that I then played the game for an hour, thinned my minor leagues (a little), simmed a game, set up my entire minor league system and then the game crashed again when I went to look at a player's 2008 stats. Half hour later it crashed again when I went into player editor. This concerns me that the game is now at some sort of fatally glitchy area. It takes so darn long for the game to save that it discourages saving often, so there's now always the danger of crashes and losing a lot of data/work. Thanks! Jack

The crashes when looking at stats or the editor are discouraging. Are you using the MLB quickstart? If so, are you seeing this behavior in other leagues, i.e. fictional ones? |

Yes, it always crashed when I had a full low(est) rookie league team, which is 200 players (I had a TON of draft picks). It's not an issue now as I've thinned the team.
Now as for the other problem, it concerns me, too. I honestly don't remember if I'm using the MLB quick start. Did the game come with a pre-made MLB? If so, that's what I'm using. It's a season that started in 2007 and had every player and every minor league player of note. That's the ONLY league I'm playing. Does this answer your question and give you any insight as to what's wrong? Thanks! Jack
