I didn't know what to expect from Vince Young in his biggest game as a pro last night.

He left with the score tied with a supposedly nagging chronic quad injury. He also said after the game that he'd definitely be ready to play next week. Jeff Fisher left it up in the air.

I think Vince Young chickened out.

It isn't all Vince's fault. That whole Titans team has underperformed for a few weeks now, and they should have put away the Colts with their injuries and second/third stringers playing the game.

Now there were some first stringers on defense, but, this team almost beat Colts early in the season losing 22-20. You are telling me this same offense couldnt run up any more points on a banged up defense with mostly second stringers in?

They may have made the playoffs, but I thought the Browns were a much more dangerous team for playoffs than Titans. I was rooting for them to make it.

Who knows? Maybe this time next year we will be saying how great Young is, and how smart the head coach is. Or maybe he joins Billick next year.

thought i heard after the game fisher saying he coulda put vince back in but felt confident that collins could get them the W and didn't wanna risk a more serious injury to VY

Vince Young may eclipse Michael Vick status as far as being overrated is concerned, and THAT is saying something.

How bout we give the guy more than 2 years and maybe give him a WR with a pulse that can actually catch the ball. I've watched a number of games where hes made nice passes that hit his receivers in the chest and just bounced off

Right now his status is close to what Trent Dilfer was though, too hyped in the "proven winner" category. He's not as hyped as Vick in the "great quarterback category". I guess people got burnt by Vick, therefore are more cautious about praising Young's ability.

Sometimes it's a bit comical that the press try so hard to find good things to say about Young, but they can't find any, other than "just knows how to win".

Different time, different place. I seriously doubt Young has the same confidence in the NFL that he had in the last game of his college career. He has struggled in the NFL. He had led his team to a lot of late comeback wins. But he's not played in big games like this with this much at stake where he's not the best player on the field. The thing about Jeff Fisher saying is ridiculous. You're basically in a playoff game with the score tied and you feel comfortable enough with your backup QB to sit Young to avoid injury? If that's the case, Collins should be starting every week. You avoid injuries so you can play in game like these.

Collins stayed in because he gave them a better chance to win. Sanders was spying Young, taking away his running game and making him a pocket passer. Young and his receivers weren't able to get the job done even against ten defenders in the passing game. It was time to bring in a quarterback instead of some slash player.

That doesn't explain away his almost 2:1 INT:TD ratio. (And no, I don't buy the whole "bad receivers running bad routes!" ratio. It wouldn't be so bad as to account for that 2:1 ratio.)

Yeah, his receivers aren't making him throw it to the other team, no matter how bad they may be (there are worse WR corps in the NFL too).

Strangely Vick's numbers are clearly better than Young's. At least Vick has a decent TD to INT rate and his completion percentage, while not great, is at least decent. All that said, I'd still take Young on any day ending in Y over Vick. I've always had the impression Vick is about "me" while Young has always struck me as a total team guy and a leader. I'd love to see his career curve go the way of Terry Bradshaw who had very similar numbers at this point in his career. I think Young is a good guy and I hope he puts it together.

How do you know? I'm sick of people assuming he's not on steroids when there's no hard evidence to support this. Has he passed any drug tests? Has his mail ever been intercepted and steroids weren't found?
