The trade and Waiver Wire are still open. They will close for this week in 20 hours at (6 pm CST December 27, 2007).

I don't want to start a war here but wanted to clarify something on the minors.

There will be no movement of fighters to and from the minor league rosters this season. Fighters on the minor league rosters are in limbo until the end of this season.

This is the way I understood the league vote to go down. If I'm wrong, please let me know because I've already instructed some owners in the past few weeks that this is the way it was when they were requesting roster moves during the waiver rounds.

This is correct as I recall it.

The trade wire and waiver wire are now closed.

Waiver claims...............

Undisputed Champions claim Flyweight (7)Charlie Magri 46-32-8 (27) *PRIME

from the free agent pool and they release

Flyweight (7)Jackie Paterson 10-10-3 (5) *pre-prime

With the coming of New Years eve parties around my place, Week 6 will more than likely not finish by this Sunday. It will be completed by January 1, 2008 for sure. Sorry for the slight delay in this weeks action.

I'll be back later with my predictions for week 6. I managed to go 9-3 last week (much better than my first attempt at this) and hope to top that this week. Half of my point spreads were way off last week but I got a few within a point or two.

First to see action in Week 6.............
  • Cawkney Crusaders @ Oakland Assassins
  • Fightin' Wilcats @ Muckboys
  • Stockholm's Finest @ Left Jab Inc
  • Tile Hill Top Team @ Dublin Guards

Nice, good to see that the Muckboys will be in action early. Should be a heck of a match with the Wildcats.

You might have just lit a fire under TC Dale and his group. I spelled his team name with a "C" once and he made it very clear he didn't want his team name to be related to the Kentucky Wildcats in any way shape or form. So it was with a "K" from that point on.

Week Six Picks................

Upset pick of the week:
Chilton Roughnecks defeats The Nobodies to pick up their first franchise win.
Chilton Roughnecks by 5

Behind the Woodshed Whoopin picks:
Bears Unstable too much for the expansion Antwerp Southpaws
Bears by 26
&
Hoosier Playboys @ Undisputed Champions - UC will pad their lead big time in the Midwest after a victory here
UC by 21

Rest of the picks.

Cawkney Crusaders @ Oakland Assassins
Oakland by 16

Fightin' Wilcats @ Muckboys - this will be closer than you think
Muckboys by 7

Stockholm's Finest @ Left Jab Inc - Left Jab seems to be moving up in the world
Left Jab Inc by 9

Tile Hill Top Team @ Dublin Guards - The Hilltoppers should roll against a wounded Dublin team
Tile Hill by 11

Brazilian Barbarians @ Windy City Wizards - could go either way but I like the Barbarians in this one
Barbarians by 10

Juggernaut @ Iceteaboxing - This would be my second upset pick of the week. Juggernaut surprises Iceteaboxing.
Juggernaut by 3

Mexivilles @ Hebron Haymakers - Haymakers should roll and add to their massive team point total in the standings.
Haymakers by 12

Bonner Springs Bald Beavers @ Tomato City - The Beavers own the Tomatoes but I look for a Tomato victory here.
Tomato City by 5

Punching Bags @ 420th Street Gym - First meeting between these two. Have no feeling on this one but I'll go with......
Tie

Im not too shocked to see my guys Archie "Longpants" Moore and Jose Becerra among the top pound for pound men in their weight class but Enrique Sanchez isn't expected.

Week 6 Title Bout Previews

HW-Peter Jackson: 98-9-2 (36) IceTeaBoxing
Jackson is scheduled to make his 16th and 17th defenses of his 3rd HW Title reign against the Juggernaut duo of:

Ken Norton: 77-16-3 (52) [Jackson is 4-1-0 (2) against Norton in 5 prior bouts]

Gerry Cooney: 51-37-1 (44) [Jackson is 6-0-0 (3) against Cooney in 6 prior bouts]

Peter Jackson continues his quest to 100 victories by taking on 2 more former champions this week who are both not strangers with a combined 11 bouts against him. Jackson brings a career 32-5-2 (13) [w/ 3 KO losses] record in championship bouts. He also retains his overall PfP and HW PfP #1 ranking in the UTBA.

Ken Norton is a 2-time former HW Champions who is currently ranked #5 in the HW PfP rankings. He has an overall 16-5-0 (12) [w/ 3 KO losses] record in championship bouts. Although only 1-4-0 (1) against Jackson, Norton did defeat him back in Season 3 while defending the belt.

Gerry Cooney is also a former HW Champion, but has not been as successful as either Jackson or Norton. He has a 5-4-0 (5) [w/ 4 KO losses] in championship bouts. Also, he has lost to Jackson in all 6 prior meetings.

LHW-Archie Moore: 49-6-0 (45) 1DQ Bear's Unstable
Moore is scheduled to make his 4th and 5th defenses of his 2nd LHW Title reign against the Antwerp Southpaws duo of:

Joe Calzaghe(r): 6-3-1 (6) [Moore is 1-0-0 (1) against Calzaghe in their only prior bout]

Miguel Angel Cuello: 11-45-0 (8) [Moore is 1-0-0 (1) against Cuello in their only prior bout]

This is a rematch between Bear's Unstable and Antwerp's Southpaws who previously met this season back in Week 1.

Archie Moore is currently ranked #5 in the overall PfP list and #2 in the LHW PfP list. He has an 11-2-0 (10) [w/ 2 KO losses] record in championship bouts.

Joe Calzaghe is having a pretty good rookie season and will have his 1st crack at the LHW belt against Moore. Moore beat Calzaghe (W-TKO7) back in Week 1 this season.

Miguel Angel Cuello is struggling this season w/ a 1-9-1 (1) record and lost to Moore back in Week 1 by KO in the 10th round of their non-title bout. Cuello lost his only title shot (L-KO7) back in Season 2 to then-champion Marvin Johnson. This loss sent him into a short retirement. He resurfaced in Season 4 w/ the Hebron Haymakers. The Antwerp Southpaws are the third team he has fought for in the UTBA.

MW-Tiger Flowers: 85-18-7 (22) 6DQ IceTeaBoxing
Flowers is scheduled to make his 9th and 10th defenses of his 3rd MW Title reign against the Juggernaut duo of:

Tony Zale: 73-13-5 (65) [Flowers is 4-1-0 (1) w/ 1 KO loss against Zale in 5 prior bouts]

Rito Ruvalcaba: 13-39-0 (8) [Flowers is 1-1-0 (1) w/ 1 DQ loss against Ruvalcaba in 2 prior bouts]

Tiger Flowers continues his dominant run as MW Champion. He has a 10-2-0 (4) record in championship bouts. He is ranked #6 on the overall PfP list and #1 on the MW PfP list. This week should be interesting because both opponents have beaten Flowers once.

Tony Zale is having a great 5th season with Juggernaut and has a 9-1-0 (7) record so far. Zale is a former MW Champion who briefly held the belt during the Season 2 EOY Tournament, winning it with a KO6 over Carmen Basilio but losing S-15 in his first defense to Ken Overlin. He seems to be the Rodney Dangerfield of the MW division with his impressive overall and Season 5 record but absence from either the MW or overall PfP rankings.

Rito Ruvalcaba and Tiger Flowers head towards the rubber-match of their series of fights. Flowers demolished Ruvalcaba with a TKO1 back in Season 3, but became frustrated in their rematch and was DQ'd in the 11th.

WW-Billy Graham: 16-8-6 (5) 1DQ The Dublin Guards
Graham is scheduled to make his 2nd and 3rd defenses of his 1st WW Title reign against the Tile Hill Top Team duo of:

Lloyd Honeyghan: 82-11-4 (48) 1DQ [This will be their 1st meeting]

Colin Jones: 37-50-3 (26) [This will be their 1st meeting]

Newly crowned WW Champion Billy Graham is only 2-0-0 (1) in championship bouts. He spent his rookie season with the Oakland Assassins in the Silver Conference, but now has joined the Guards in the offseason - struggling at first, but has evened his season record to 5-5-0 (5) 1DQ.

Lloyd Honeyghan is a former WW Champion who is currently ranked #7 in the overall PfP list and sits at #1 on the WW PfP list. His record in championship bouts is 7-2-0 (5) w/ 2 KO losses. Honeyghan lost his title by TKO-15 to Cocoa Kid in the 2nd round of the Season 4 EOY Tournament.

Colin Jones is a solid veteran currently having his most productive season at 7-3-0 (6). He lost in his only championship bout appearance by KO-4 to then-champion Andrew "Six Heads" Lewis back in Season 3.

LW-Edwin Rosario: 81-15-1 (72) 1DQ Muckboys
Rosario is scheduled to make his 4th and 5th defenses of his 2nd LW Title reign against the Fightin' WildKats duo of:

Sean O'Grady: 37-33-0 (33) [Rosario is 3-0-0 (3) against O'Grady in 3 prior bout]

Jesse James Leija: 22-27-1 (9) [This is their 1st meeting]

Edwin Rosario is currently ranked #17 on the overall PfP list and #2 on the LW PfP list. He has an overall 5-2-1 (4) record in championship bouts.

Sean O'Grady will be stepping into the ring for the 1st time in a championship bout, but after being KO'd in all 3 prior bouts against Rosario, chances are that he will walk away without the belt around his waist.

Jesse James Leija has 49 rounds of experience in championship bouts, but has a 0-3-0 (0) record. He spent 2 seasons in the Silver Conference as a member of the Chilton Roughnecks before moving over the the Gold Conference this season.

FW-Young Griffo: 93-7-7 (21) 2DQ Antwerp Southpaws
Griffo is scheduled to make his 11th and 12th defense of his 4th FW Title reign against the Bear's Unstable duo of:

Carmelo Negron: 17-39-1 (12) [Griffo is 3-1-0 (1) w/ 1DQ loss against Negron in 4 prior bouts]

Enrique Sanchez: 46-28-0 (31) [Griffo is 2-0-0 (1) against Sanchez in 2 prior bouts]

This is the 2nd meeting between the Antwerp Southpaws and Bear's Unstable this season.

What more can be said about Young Griffo. in 45 championship bouts, he has an incredible record of 41-3-1 (10) w/ 1 KO loss. He is currently ranked #3 on the overall PfP list and #1 on the FW PfP list. For all his dominance in the FW division, he now fights for his 3rd team in 5 seasons, but has been a champion everywhere he goes.

Carmelo Negron also fights for his 3rd team and has 2 prior championship bout appearances - both losses against who else but Young Griffo. Surprisingly, Negron handed Griffo his 1st career loss back in Season 1. Griffo was DQ'd in the 9th round of that non-title bout.

Enrique Sanches is a former FW champion currently ranked #4 on the FW PfP list. He has an overall 5-3-0 (4) w/ 1 KO loss record in championship bouts. Two of those three losses were to - take a guess - Young Griffo. Sanchez briefly held the belt back in Season 3 after a KO-9 victory against then-champion Terry McGovern, but lost in his 5th defense by TKO-12 to Ronnie Clayton.

BW-Benny Goldberg: 18-8-5 (5) 1DQ 420th Street Gym
Goldberg is scheduled to make his 2nd and 3rd defenses of his 1st BW Title reign against the Punching Bags duo of:

Oscar Muniz: 34-38-3 (23) [This is their 1st meeting]

Paul Ferreri: 28-33-3 (7) [This is their 1st meeting]

Benny Goldberg captured the BW Title last week with a U-15 decision against Memphis Pal Moore. He has a 2-1-0 (1) record in championship bouts.

Both Oscar Muniz and Paul Ferreri are making their first appearances in a championship bouts.

Oscar Muniz joined the expanison Punching Bags in Season 3 after sitting out Season 2. He fought for the Undisputed Champions in Season 1.

Paul Ferreri joined the expanision Punching Bags in Season 3 after sitting out Season 2. He fought for the Brazilian Barbarians in Season 1.

FLY-Santos Laciar: 44-9-5 (12) Brazilian Barbarians
Laciar is scheduled to make his 6th and 7th defenses of his 3rd FLY Title reign agains the Windy City Wizards duo of:

Carlos Murillo: 9-22-1 (6) [Laciar is 0-1-0 (0) against Murillo in their only prior bout]

Lee Sandoval(r): 0-10-0 (0) [Laciar is 1-0-0 (0) against Sandoval in their only prior bout]

The match between the Brazilian Barbarians and the Windy City Wizards is a rematch of Week 1.

Santos Laciar is ranked #2 on the FLY PfP list. He has a career 8-3-0 (2) w/ 3 KO losses record in championship bouts. After beginning Season 5 as the FLY Champion after winning the Season 4 EOY Tournament, Laciar was shocked in his first bout and was knocked out cold by Murillo.

Carlos Murillo is a former FLY Champion with a 1-2-0 (1) w/ 2 KO losses record in championship bouts. His other championship bout loss was also in Week 1 against Laciar's teammate Sot Chitalada.

Lee Sandoval seems highly overmatched in his rookie UTBA season, so far losing all 10 of his professional bouts. His only championship bout was a 1st round TKO loss to Sot Chitalada back in Week 1.

Friday night fights on ESPN just ended and I'll now begin preparations to begin week 6. Sorry for the delay but I had to watch the fights. If I post any results it will be around midnight CST or early am. If I don't make any posts in the next 2 or 3 hours........they'll be posted Saturday evening.

Dave, just one small thing on the champion stats. Flowers is currently in his third reign as champion and his overall record in championship bouts...... 10-2-0 (4).

Thanks. I seemed to have missed his 2nd Title (M-15) victory against Mickey Walker in the Season 2 EOY Tournament, after which he immediately lost (L-U15) to Carlos Monzon.

I've updated my database stuff...

Bah, of course O'Grady loses every fight to Edwin up to now and will probably lose every one after this but somehow has to end Edwin's title reign bastard. Still even with Edwin dropping the belt there is some great stuff coming out of this match. I'm happy that Sergei Artemiev was able to keep the title in Muckboy hands and more important I'm pumped that Curry finally went Prime that should greatly help the team, maybe he'll finally beat Breland. I'm awarding a dual MVP to Hugo Soto and Marvis Frazier this week. Soto had a big day beating Darchinyan in a huge upset and getting 2 KOs. Frazier didn't have as good a week since he didn't have any KOs but Frazier sucks and I don't expect him to win so I have to give him props for going 2-0

Man, I was expecting a 1-1 day from Danny Lopez but I thought he would lose to McGovern and beat Clayton not the other way around.
Yeah,I looked in at halftime and thought "maybe there is a chance to serve notice to the top guys in my division" alas,it wasnt to be. Still a fighter away and a couple of guys getting a little more experience. At least I am finally starting to climb a little in the overall ranks. Sorry I havent been around, but I still have a father who is in the hospital and is under HOSPICE care when at home, however,as soon as I can free up some time,I hope to be able to come back and contribute to the site a little more. Take care all and if I dont see ya until next year..have a happy new year all! Peace, health and happiness to all!! Oh yeah..thanks to SAL and all of his little elves who help with the stats, schedules and rankings. You guys make this one helluva fun league. Congrats to Romdawg and his tough, tough Muckboys squad. Hopefully I will be able to close the gap soon.

I have an odd feeling about Moore - Calzaghe. I see Calzaghe winning the Title for Antwerp!
