And now we're coming to one of those "games we're supposed to win" stretches of the schedule:
3 at home against Kansas City 3 at home against the Yankees 3 on the road against Chicago (N) 3 at home against Oakland 3 at home against Tampa Bay Thome should be back in time for the Yanks, so let's turn it on! |

Yep, great game for Jose. No need for the 'pen if our starters can go 9!
Dye is ice-cold as heck though. Last two games he is 0-9 and doesnt look good at all up there. Paulie, Sweeney and AJ continue to do well. Bring on the Royals! |

This will help them to bring Dye back at a discount. That is if they still want him if this slump continues.

Tell you what, it's never easy, is it?
Ah, well. Garland got ground balls all over the place and Jenks shut the door with the tying run on 2nd. That's 3 in a row - let's get the sweep! |

So...I was driving home from Indiana today. While on the Dan Ryan, I passed by the Cell at about 3:00 - I didn't have the game on the radio, since we were listening to my son's musical selections.
The Ryan was a parking lot due to the construction, so I rolled the window down hoping to hear something from the stadium - a huge cheer, or some fireworks, but I didn't hear anything. When we got home, I figured out why. Oof. |

The Sox have activated Toby Hall:

That may well have been two of the ugliest innings of baseball I've ever seen.
Glad I turned down those tickets. |

Blame this one on Mcdougal again!!!!!!!!!!!
Why the heck does Ozzie continue to pitch him in close games?!! ![]() I also predicted the go ahead run coming on a wild pitch from Mcdougal, and sure enough, there ya go. The 4 errors were totally uncharacteristic of the team, but they didnt cost us the game. Blame that on Mcdougal and his Wild Pitch and his 5 hits in .2 innings. Gah!!!!!!!!!! |

Guh. Remember a few days ago, when our bullpen was good?
Yeah, me neither. This is just depressing. |

dola,
Seriously, I'm pretty sure this is the worst baseball I've seen the White Sox play. And I'm talking about, like, in my entire lifetime. I have zero confidence in this team right now. None at all. Last edited by eriqjaffe; 05-19-2007 at 07:23 PM. |

Tell me about it. This team is very hard to watch. The bullpen scares the crap out of me, and the offense nearly puts me to sleep.
Hope we can win at least Sunday's game, or us Sox fans wont hear the end of it. |

After the Cubs sweep out the Sox (for ****'s sake, Nick Masset is starting - at least the bullpen won't have a lead to blow), I'll be fairly safe because the Cub fans I work with know better than to upset somebody who can lock their network accounts.
![]() Well, that, and it won't be fun for them to try to rub stuff in when all I do is agree with them on pretty much every point they're going to have to make. |

Well, I'll be damned. The game's not over yet, so anything can happen, but no matter the outcome, Nick Massett looked pretty good out there, giving up only 3 hits in 5 2/3 innings. He's in line to pick up the win in his first start, which I guess gives him something to hold over John Danks' head for the rest of their lives.

Well, get holdin', as Danks and Massett now have as many wins as McCarthy.
Of course, it the Sox had to let the Cubs get back into the game, as much as being 4 down can be "in the game". Then again, with the meltdowns the bullpen had the previous two games, a 4-run lead sure didn't feel safe, especially when Bobby Jenks fell behind 3-0 to Pagan with one out and one on. Fortunately, Bobby was able to battle back, and then was backed up by an extremely nifty play by Iguchi to retire Soriano and end the game. What really surprised me about that play is that the ball wasn't hit very hard, Iguchi had to go deep to get it and relay to Uribe who actually made the throw to first - a 4-6-3 putout. I fully expected Soriano to beat that out, considering his speed. They didn't really show any replays that showed it, but I wonder of Soriano was dogging it out of the box... |
