Issue with DESIGNATED FOR ASSIGNMENT

I have a pitcher who supposed cleared waivers and is designated for assignment within the TRANSACTIONS area of my team. OOTP will not let me sim ahead until he has been assigned. The problem I am experiencing is it will not let me send him to my minors or my big league club since it states he has to clear waivers first. If I put him back on waivers, OOTP still will not let me sim ahead because he still shows with 0 days left for assignment in the designated for assignment area.

I feel that I am stuck since I cannot progress any further. Please advise as any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Additional information

I have just been eliminated from the League Championship series and cannot add him to my 25-man roster. He is still on my 40 man roster. Thanks again for helping.

While I'm not sure how much these thoughts will help you, I have two:

1) as a temporary workaround, perhaps you could go to League Setup and change your DFA time to a longer period allowing you time for the player to clear waivers again. If you didn't remove him from the box, I can't explain why this maneuver would be required a second time.

2) don't know what your habits are, but it is generally not a good idea to remove a player from the Waiver box once he says Cleared. If you notice, the AI tends to leave players there sometimes as long as a season so in the event it chooses to move them they have already "cleared" previously. It is probably wise to do the same. Perhaps you have a backup from a few days ago, game time?

Thanks for the help. In the end, I decided to put the team on COMPUTER MANAGER for the day in order to sim past the issue. I am back in control of the team.

As endgame said, if you put a player on DFA, I'd make sure they were already on the waivers.

Another trick, if you haven't already moved into post-season would be to move a guy from your Major League roster to DFA, move this guy to the major league roster, then swap them. It will reset the counter on the DFA for the guy in question. Just make sure you don't move a guy who gets put on irrecoverable waivers or you could lose him.

Also, if you don't make the playoffs, you don't have to reduce your roster until opening day of the following season. (Found this out by accident)
