In the last 2 months, I've had 3 fights end via DQ in the 14th round.
They were title fights in the SMW, JLW & Fly divisions. In all 3 cases, the champ was way ahead on the cards but was DQ'd in the 14th. Also, in all 3 cases, the fighter who was behind, won in his home country: Germany, Panama & just today, England. Anyone else have results like these recently? |

I had a similar fight not too long ago. Young Pluto beat Torpedo Billy Murphy for the featherweight title by DQ in the 14th round. Murphy was way ahead on the scorecards, but had a lot of fouls (I forget the total amount by now).

Another DQ this morning.
Lennox Lewis (my WBC champ) was DQ'd in the 4th round in England! He's now 18-2 (his only other loss was to Riddick Bowe) & now Lance Whitaker is my WBC champ. That's 4 DQ's in 2 months! |

It's kind of funny but a heavy fouling fighter doesn't necessarily equal disqualifications in the real world. Here's some lifetime stats for some dirty bastards.
Fritzie Zivic - DQs lifetime: 0 Harry Greb - DQs lifetime: 1 Roberto Duran - DQs lifetime: 0 Evander Holyfield - DQs lifetime: 0 These are off the top of my head. Can anyone else remember fighters so good at the art of the foul that they almost never got caught? Cube

I have noticed that the fights that end in DQ are a little above normal. I think some fighters maybe you should lower the DQ by one..if it is often..drop it to occasional etc. In one stretch...I had 7 DQs in 24 fights. Just a little high in my opinion. By the way, good point Cube and Mike..not all dirty fighters get a lot of DQs...I guess knowing what you can get away with helps.

One thing I have done is change the ratings of refs that DQ fighters with less than 3 warnings. I had a guy get 7 warnings, lose a point, then get DQ's. That was a little high. I like to see 3-4 warnings, point or two taken, then DQ .. I just don't get a lot of them though. Maybe 3-4 a year.
